Tonight represents the culmination of a yearlong search for the very best travel brands in the world, covering seven continents and featuring over 3,600 nominees. Now the competition has been whittled down to the elite few – the winners from each of our seven regional events. This year, 183,000 travel professionals registered to vote and participate in the World Travel Awards programme – a phenomenal 10% rise in registrations this year compared to last year. Welcome to the World Travel Awards’ Grand Final. I’m very proud that Britain once again hosts this prestigious annual event in one of the most vibrant, dynamic and contemporary cities in the world. Coming as the world arrives in London for the World Travel Market, we celebrate the best in tourism – for Britain, a £114 billion industry that is vital to the wellbeing of our economy. Supporting 2.6 million jobs and 200,000 small businesses in the UK, tourism is central to our efforts to emerge from one of the most severe economic downturns in living memory. Although visits to many of the world’s destinations have faced the pressure of the tough economic climate since the last World Travel Awards, the relative position of sterling against the dollar and Euro have presented us with a great opportunity. It has meant that for many, exploring all that Britain has to offer has never been more affordable. As well as celebrating our sporting heritage and drawing visitors to some of the world’s greatest ‘cathedrals of sport’, events will get Britain on the wish list of potential travellers who have no historical ties to Britain. We have an unprecedented opportunity to deliver a world-class welcome to all visitors and thereby to enhance the image of the UK as a truly world class visitor destination. Bobby Davro The impressionist and comedian Bobby Davro has been one of the UK's undisputed stars of Saturday-night television for more than a decade. Bobby Davro made his TV debut in 1981, but his major breakthrough came with an appearance in ‘Live at Her Majesty’s’ in 1983. This led to his own Saturday night series ‘Bobby Davro on The Box’, ‘Bobby’s Sketch Pad’ and ‘TV Weekly’, which immediately topped the ratings for six consecutive years. In 1991 Bobby moved to the BBC and made three series, ‘Public Enemy Number One’, ‘Rock with Laughter’ and ‘Run the Risk’. In 1997 Bobby hosted for Yorkshire Television’s ‘Winner Takes All’ for 65 programmes. Bobby recorded the No 1 Hit by the proclaimers’ for comic relief with Peter Kay. Bobby has recently joined the UK's top rating TV series ‘Eastenders’, playing lovable rogue ‘Vinnie Monks’.

Tamara Beckwith Tamara's career includes writing, presenting and acting. She also has many business interests including a jewellery range for QVC; co-owns The Little Black Gallery in London; and is involved with www.gift-library.com. Tamara has written columns for many magazines and newspapers including OK! Magazine, Harpers Bazaar Australia, LA Confidential, Esquire, Sunday Express, News of the World, Looks, Ahlan! Dubai and Total Style. She currently writes for Hello Magazine. Tamara's radio and television career has included presenting for 'The Big Breakfast', MTV, VH-1, 'Exclusive' and 'The Casting Couch'. She has appeared on numerous TV shows including 'Dancing On Ice', 'Celebrity Scissorhands', 'Come Dine With Me' and 'Celeb Detox'. Tamara has also been a presenter on Liberty Radio and Talk Radio. Tamara's acting credits include performing Eve Ensler's 'The Vagina Monologues' on tour (2004-05 and 2009). Tamara has also fronted TV advertising campaigns for Heineken and Kentucky Fried Chicken, and modelled for Charles Worthington, Shi Cashmere, Freemans, Peter Golding and Next amongst many others; and taken to the catwalk for Anna Molinari, Evisu, Abe Hamilton, Scott Henshall and Gai Mattiolo.
George Sampson With his cheeky little grin and cute butterwouldn't-melt face - it's no surprise George Sampson has a fan base that spans 7 year old girls to grannies. Since dancing his way to the top of Britain's Got Talent in May 2008, the 15 year old from Warrington has been propelled to popularity of Disney heartthrob proportions. Having taken centre stage at the ‘Britain’s Got Talent tour’, George was the guest of honour at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards (where he was declared 'favourite winner'), he starred in the West End dance show ‘Into The Hoods’, appeared at ‘T4 on the Beach’, attended The Pride of Britain Awards, was the face of Natwest Teenage Accounts and did a star turn at BBC Switch Live. And now with the release of his own DVD featuring four new and exclusive videos which see George showcasing his vocal talents as well as his fancy footwork - things just keep getting better for Mr Sampson. And just like his dancing, it shows no signs of stopping.

Income from tourists is being used to provide education for the children, as well as basic sanitation and running water.
