Welcome President of the World Travel Awards 15th World Gala Ceremony Dear friends, It gives me a tremendous honour to welcome you to the 2008 Grand Final of the World Travel Awards, here on the paradise island of Providenciales, Turks & Caicos. Now in our 15th year, the World Travel Awards is driven by a relentless quest for excellence – seeking out those travel companies and organisations that are doing more than anyone else to further the customer experience. Our quest for travel excellence continually evolves, and this year we have hosted regional finals in seven continents, including our first ever ceremonies dedicated to South America and Australasia. We also held our inaugural Green Awards to honour leaders in sustainable tourism. Tonight sees the culmination of the competition as our regional winners go head to head to be voted the very best travel organisations in the world. We are honoured to return to Turks and Caicos to host our Grand Final 2008, as well as our Caribbean Ceremony for the
region’s finest. These idyllic islands capture the very spirit of our awards – their unique combination of overwhelming natural beauty, state-of-the-art facilities and an infectious community spirit is the envy of the tourism world.
