WORLD TRAVEL AWARDS GRAND FINAL 2015 Thank you for joining us this evening at Mazagan Beach & Golf Resort here in the world-beating tourism destination of Morocco for what promises to be the highlight of the 2015 hospitality calendar. Tonight represents the end of a year-long journey for World Travel Awards, with our annual Grand Tour having taken us to the four corners of the earth in search of the very best in international tourism. We began the year in the United Arab Emirates, at the Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach, welcoming hundreds of industry leaders to our Middle East Ceremony. One of our largest ever events, we were proud to recognise the best of regional tourism during a dazzling show. Next came Seychelles, perhaps one of the most sought after tourism destinations on earth, with the Kempinski Seychelles Resort taking over hosting duties for the Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony. These events were followed by our first ever visit to Italy, when we were welcomed to Forte Village in Sardinia for the Europe Gala Ceremony. We have since visited Colombian capital BogotĂĄ for the Latin America Gala Ceremony and the Bahamas for the Caribbean & North America Gala Ceremony, before completing the Grand Tour with the Asia & Australasia Gala Ceremony at InterContinental Grand Stanford Hong Kong in October. Over 9,000 nominees came before the WTA voters over the course of 2015, with only a handful being picked in each region. These select few now join us here this evening, with the very best of them taking home the global awards â&#x20AC;&#x201C; the highest accolade in the travel, tourism and hospitality industry. you must try the warming tagines, flaky pastillas, spicy hariras and fishy chermoula. When you’re looking for something to drink, mint tea (known as Berber whiskey) is the national drink and you’ll find it enjoyed everywhere.

To celebrate this rich heritage, Morocco holds a wide variety of festivals; in the bigger cities these can be vast events that carry on for several days, attracting artists and performers from across the country. DESERT Morocco’s deserts are an intense and glorious landscape that reward exploration. The dunes of the Sahara, the world’s largest hot desert, offer a harsh and beautiful landscape in which civilisation and nature have bloomed, and the best way to explore this remarkable landscape is by embarking upon a trek, often by camel, and with the option to sleep under the vast starry skies. Whether it’s exploring the deserted white sands of Plage Blanche or gazing upon the tallest dunes in the worlds in Erg Chebbi, there is an adventure waiting for everyone.

Etihad Airways leads World Travel Awards winners in Middle East In the first event of the World Travel Awards Grand Tour 2015 Etihad Airways retained its title as the Middle East’s Leading Airline for an incredible ninth consecutive year. The United Arab Emirates’ flag-carrier was recognised during a red carpet awards presentation evening at the Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach in front of hundreds of Middle Eastern tourism leaders. World Travel Awards winners celebrate at Kempinski Seychelles Resort Winners at the World Travel Awards Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony were unveiled at the Kempsinki Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare during the second stop of the Grand Tour 2015. Air Seychelles was among the biggest winners on the night, taking the titles of Indian Ocean’s Leading Airline, Indian Ocean’s Leading Airline – Business Class and Indian Ocean’s Leading Cabin Crew. In front of an audience of more than 150 industry leaders from 20 countries, Maldives was recognised as Indian Ocean’s Leading Beach Destination, while host Seychelles took the title of Indian Ocean’s Leading Destination. In Africa, Kenya took the coveted trophy for Africa’s Leading Tourist Board. World Travel Awards President Graham Cooke said: “Tonight has been a fantastic showcase of hospitality brands from across Africa and the Indian Ocean. We have recognised some industry leading brands and it is a pleasure to honour our winners here at Kempinski Seychelles Resort.” He added: “This evening’s winners will now move forward to the Grand Final in Morocco later in the year, and I look forward to welcoming them there.”

Transcorp Hilton Abuja was also among the big winners, taking a total of five awards. The luxury property took the trophies for Nigeria’s Leading Hotel and Africa’s Leading Business Hotel among a clutch of prizes. World Travel Awards has revealed Diamonds La Gemma dell’Est, Zanzibar, Tanzania, has been selected to host the Africa & India Ocean Gala Ceremony 2016. Set to take place on Saturday, April 9th, 2016, the dazzling red-carpet ceremony will welcome hospitality leaders and luminaries from across the regions. Diamonds La Gemma dell’Est, located on the north-western shores of magical Zanzibar, is set within stupendous exotic tropical gardens. Saint Petersburg, Russia, leads World Travel Awards European winners in Sardinia Saint Petersburg, Russia, claimed the title of Europe’s Leading Destination at the World Travel Awards Europe Gala Ceremony in Sardinia, Italy. During a glittering ceremony at Forte Village Resort, the Russian capital of culture was recognised for its exceptionally rich history, centuries-old traditions and bright future. Latin America travel winners revealed in magical Bogotá Ecuadorian capital Quito led winners at the World Travel Awards Latin America Gala Ceremony 2015, being recognised as Latin America’s Leading Destination for the third successive year. On a night of night of high drama in host city Bogotá, Chile claimed the title of South America’s Leading Adventure Tourism Destination, while Argentina picked up the trophy for South America’s Leading Heritage Destination. In a special presentation, TurisRio President Paulo Senise was awarded the title of Latin America Travel Personality of the Year 2015.
