Sulphur Recovery Unit Assessment How effective are your Sulphur Recovery processes? -----
Do they run at minimum operating cost? Do they achieve “best in class” reliability? Do they employ modern technology? Can they achieve minimum emission limits?
Our solution
Our zero cost SRU Assessment provides insight into your SRU’s performance when benchmarked against industry best practice to ultimately provide you with the knowledge of how to increase its efficiency whilst reducing operating costs and emissions. As market leader, WorleyParsons has designed more than 600 sulphur removal units worldwide, including some of the world’s largest plants. Our breadth of knowledge stretches from acid gas removal, to Claus and tail gas treatment, and solid sulphur handling and transport in both greenfield and brownfield operations.
Avoid unplanned shutdowns
Reduce likelihood to impact asset capacity and integrity
With this unrivalled experience and expertise, developed over 60 years to produce designs that are robust and reliable, we are ideally placed to advise you on how best to meet your challenges.
How can this benefit you?
Meets new statutory regulations for lower emissions (“future proofing”) And not incur regulatory penalties
Accommodates changes in acid gas composition
Reduces operating costs Increases capacity of existing plants by using technology innovation worleyparsons.com

Challenge Evaluate the feasibility of low level oxygen enrichment and capacity increase on two existing Claus units and common Tail Gas Treatment Unit where previously WorleyParsons provided the original technology and also executed EPC. Solution -- WorleyParsons developed the preliminary process concept, using its proprietary oxygen enrichment technology, for the Gdańsk Refinery to increase the Sulphur Recovery Unit capacity by 20% at minimum cost. -- Capital cost savings were achieved by the re-use of existing equipment. -- WorleyParsons executed the detailed design of the required modifications. Value delivered -- Minimised operating costs. -- Increased capacity through existing plants by technology innovation at minimum capital cost while meeting emissions regulations.

Challenge
Challenge
Processing of lean acid gas (<60% H2S) to meet stringent emissions targets.
Expand oil and gas handling facilities from 12 to 22 million tonnes per year. Solution
Solution WorleyParsons worked closely with GASCO to develop the optimum process scheme before producing the Basic Engineering Design Package for the sulphur removal and Tail Gas Treating Units (TGTU) at Habshan using WorleyParsons’ proprietary technology. The project selected the highly selective FlexsorbTM solvent, which minimised both equipment sizing and energy usage.
This WorleyParsons’ licensed sulphur plant is one of the world’s biggest single train plant producing 2,450tpd of sulphur. The plant incorporates a BSR Tail Gas Treatment Unit which uses FlexsorbTM solvent which provides a design which has significant advantages in both capital and operating costs.
Value delivered -- Delivered a solution with the best operational and economic performance. -- The reaction furnaces are the world’s largest. The design allowed a single thermal stage design which saved capital cost and enabled a simplified control scheme to be implemented. -- Delivered a plant that is reliable and meets all process guarantees. -- Minimised operating costs. -- Accommodating off-design acid gases.
Value delivered -- Increased capacity of plant fully meeting all customer requirements. -- High sulphur recovery of 99.9% with minimum emissions. -- Minimum capital cost design using highly selective Flexsorb™ solvent to minimise TGTU size and tail gas recycle volume. -- Minimum operating cost design with minimum solvent flow and regeneration duties.
