North Safanyia HIPPS Study Customer: Saudi Aramco/WorleyParsons Petrocon Location: Saudi Arabia WorleyParsons provided safety lifecycle activities for the High Integrity Pressure Protection System (HIPPS) on several interconnected wellhead platforms. The services included hazard study, SIL assessment, consequence analysis, cost-benefit analysis and reporting. Our consultants structured the analysis for suitability for future platform additions and covering overpressure scenarios from wellhead to shore encompassing tie-in platforms and trunklines.

Full compliance with customer standards, IEC61508/61511 and internal WorleyParsons procedures were used to complete the hazard study, the results were used to produce a fault tree analysis modeling the entire inter-connected field from multiple offshore wellhead platforms to shore. Consequence analysis was completed using relevant data to allow mapping of the fault tree analysis results against the customer cost-benefit criteria in order to demonstrate HIPPS as a viable and safe solution for overpressure protection. HIPPS has been successfully implemented based on the analysis performed to date.
