CHARTER ALASKA
ALASKA Indescribably pure and sublime, Southeast Alaska, also known as the Alaskan Panhandle, is the epitome of icy wilderness filled with outdoor splendor and hypnotic solitude. Because of its remote location, the area is accessible only by air or boat, rendering it the perfect destination for superyacht travel. The breathtaking grandeur of ice-blue glaciers, snowcapped mountains, and towering Sitka spruce are the backdrop to this secluded corner of America, promising an experience like no other. As you journey through the tangle of islands and inlets, you’ll likely experience intimate wildlife encounters with mystical humpback whales, orcas, and seals. Among the mountainous terrain with lush covers of timber, you’ll spot American bald eagles soaring overhead or brown bears feasting in the salmonrich waters. Adventurous or serene, your journey can be customized to accommodate your every desire. From kayaking the immense turquoise waters or glacier-top picnics by helicopter, to world-class fly fishing or simply enjoying a bottle of wine aboard your yacht, your experience in Southeast Alaska will leave you with a prevailing sense of wonder.
TRACY ARM Arrive in Juneau and make your way to your private luxury yacht. Meet the captain and crew and get settled into your new floating home. Relax and let the captain and crew prepare to get underway! Heading south down Stephens Passage you will see a spectacular, narrow fjord that twists and turns for more than 30 miles. Tracy Arm Fjord is a highlight of Southeast Alaska. The twin Sawyer Glaciers greet you at the end of the fjord after you’ve navigated through ice chunks that have ‘calved’ from the glaciers.
ENDICOTT ARM One of the favorite but lesser-known destinations in Alaska is the Endicott Arm with Dawes Glacier and Fords Terror Wilderness. Larger cruise ships usually don’t venture into the Endicott Arm, leaving you to cruise its open waters. The location is known for its rugged mountains, deep valleys, and towering waterfalls. At the head of the fjord is a tidewater glacier. Bears, deer, mountain goats, eagles, and harbor seals are often on display for visitors.
PYBUS BAY / ADMIRALTY ISLAND The yacht will cruise to the east side of Admiralty Island where you will see sea lions sunning themselves. Take notice of Cannery Cove, the former site of a cannery in the 1920s. The view is beautiful and at low tide, you will have the opportunity to watch the brown bears head to the coastline to feed. Admiralty Island has the highest population of Brown Bears in the state and is part of the Kootsnoowoo Wilderness, meaning “the Fortress of Bears.”
SECURITY BAY / RED BLUFF BAY Spend the day enjoying some of the world’s most serene anchorages. Enjoy kayaking through the small coves and inlets of Security Bay, located on the north end of Kuiu Island overlooking the Frederick Sound and Catham Strait. You can expect to observe plenty of local wildlife, including brown bears, Sitka black-tailed deer, migratory waterfowl, and shorebirds. This bay is a popular spot for Dungeness crab harvesting, take the tender out and spend the afternoon crabbing. Your chef can create a unique dinner menu to pair with your delicious catch of the day.
WARM SPRINGS BAY No Alaska vacation would be complete without a visit to Baranof Warm Springs. Located just off of Chatham Strait in Warm Springs Bay, the hot springs are next to a beautiful 100-foot waterfall. Glacially-fed freshwater lakes, rivers, and streams surround the area and the tall trees are home to bald eagle nests, which you will certainly see soaring silently in the sky. The biggest attraction is the series of nine different hot springs, which range in temperature, reaching as high as 120-degrees Fahrenheit. Soaking in the warm waters while sipping a cool drink under the Northern Lights is an experience you won’t soon forget.
TENAKEE INLET As you cruise north north along Chatham Strait, the summer feeding grounds for Orcas and hundreds of humpback whales that travel both in groups and alone. We often see the impressive collective feeding behavior called “bubblenetting”. It is likely that you will observe it very, very close to the yacht. You’ll be amazed at the explosive bang created when whales crash back into the water following a breach or leap into the air. Prepare to anchor in Tenakee Inlet a majestic anchorage steeped in history.
FRESHWATER BAY In the heart of Freshwater Bay, you’ll be surrounded by mountainous terrain and pristine glistening water. This destination is a marvel for geologists as the surrounding rocks comprised of limestone tower well over 1,000 feet tall. Kayak to the northeast side of the bay where you’ll be greeted by dark glimmering rock formations that were once lava flows.
JUNEAU Cruise home to Juneau and say goodbye to your fabulous crew. Admire the marvelous scenery along the way, a unique paradise with an unexpected blend of beautiful scenery and historical significance from the US first major gold strike in 1880. It is still a favorite destination among adventure travelers on water, and nowhere is the aweinspiring wilderness setting so breathtaking. This itinerary takes you to those places that you didn’t think existed anymore and will provide you and your guests with memories that will become legendary.
