CNC stands for COMPUTER NUMERICAL CONTROL. It is a process which is used in manufacturing sector that involves the use of computer to control machine tools. On surface it may look like normal PC control machines but there is unique computer software which helps in efficient working and control of machines. The machines tools under this process functions through a numerical control.

EVOLUTION OF CNC MACHINES: JHON T.PARSON (born on Jan 7th, 1913) is the father of CNC Machines. The idea of numerical control was started when the programmable logic was incorporated with machine tools. The first CNC machine was built in 1940s and then more advanced machines were introduced in 1950s.

TYPES OF CNC MACHINES: There are basically five types of CNC machines. Let’s have a look on them.     

CNC Router Machine.

CNC PROGRAMMING CODE: The code in which CNC programming is done is known as G CODES. Generally G CODES are written and performed by CNC machine processor.

SOFTWARE USED:  First of all the part is drawn in CAD(Computer Aided Design)  Then CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) is used to convert CAD drawing to G CODES. PRECISION ENGINEERING: Precision engineering is the part of electrical, software or mechanical engineering. Precision Technology uses an instructional program that prepares individual to shape metal parts on machines such as grinders, drilling machines etc. Now a day’s Precision Machine is generally controlled by CNC machines.

This process involves a cutting tool that remove material from work piece.
