Be Thankful You Don’t Have to Pay Your Parents’ Interest Rate 2017 was supposed to be the year the housing market saw interest rates creep back up to 5%. However, according to Freddie Mac, the average interest rate on a 30 year fixed mortgage in June 2017 was 3.9%. That is their lowest mark this year.

Formerly a Midwesterner, Megan has been a Florida resident since 1987 and has called Central Florida home since 1999. A passion for real estate investing sparked a career collaborating with buyers and sellers to maximize their closing outcomes for both personal and professional endeavors. Q: What is your most valuable real estate advice? A: My most valuable real estate advice is: Be fully honest with your Realtor. Communication is key. The more I can learn about a clients current situation, goals for the future, likes and dislikes, the better I can do my job. Lay it all out there for your Realtor and, in the right hands, things go a lot smoother!

While housing experts do agree interest rates will rise by year’s end, no one knows by exactly how much. But if you are thinking about either trading up or buying your first home in the next few months, you can still get a mortgage at historically low interest rates - and win bragging rights at the Thanksgiving table.
