elcome to Winter Park and our annual Autumn Art Festival. The Winter Park Chamber of Commerce has been the proud host of the festival for 44 years, and 2017 promises to be the best yet. Having spent most of my life in Winter Park, “The Festival” has never failed to be a highlight of my year and to make me proud of my hometown. “Fine Art, Florida, Family Fun” is our promise. Ours is the only juried arts festival that features exclusively Florida artists, and we present 185 of the best this year, the most ever. We also hope you’ll enjoy the live entertainment and take advantage of the children’s workshops. The festival doesn’t happen without the hard work of our volunteer committee and my dedicated staff. I can’t thank them enough for all they’ve done to help shine a spotlight on our city, Central Park and historic Park Avenue. Thanks also to our community sponsors who help support the event. Special thanks go to our presenting sponsor, Rifle Paper Co. This incredibly successful international lifestyle brand is headquartered right here in Winter Park, and we’re so grateful for their generous backing of the festival. While you’re here, you can also take advantage of our many shopping opportunities and dining experiences. Whether you’re here to add to your art collection or simply stroll among the booths, we know you’re going to be inspired. If you’re hungry for more art, check with the Chamber staff to steer you toward one of our world-class arts and cultural opportunities.

inter Park Autumn Art Festival is celebrating 44 years of showcasing talented Florida artists. The festival began in 1973 in Central Park to celebrate local Florida artists. Shortly thereafter Rollins College became a sponsor and hosted the festival on its campus along Holt Avenue. In 1997, the festival was on the move again, due to construction and enhancements on the Rollins campus. “The Festival” found a new home at what is now called Martin Luther King, Jr. Park. Following the 2004 hurricane season, the festival moved back to its original home in Central Park and has remained there ever since. Today it is the only juried fine art festival to feature Florida artists exclusively. Each year more than 200,000 guests attend the festival to enjoy fine art, food, live entertainment, children’s art workshops and the shops along Park Avenue.

E N T E R TA I N M E N T AC T S Beth McKee

has lived through the South from Mississippi to New Orleans, through Florida, Texas and North Carolina and is well familiar with both the joys and hard times necessary to create soulful music. Her May, 2015 release Sugarcane Revival reveals a career defining collection of originals that reflect her continued efforts to delve into the fabric of her deep-South upbringing. With stellar reviews and radio airplay worldwide, including a nationally aired tourism commercial for her home state of Mississippi, her career as an indie artist has flourished and she has found a niche for herself among the songwriters of the deep south. While spending some time off-road to record the new album Beth saw a need to unify her local songwriting community. In early 2014 she began hosting a monthly singer/songwriter series at Orlando hotspot The Smiling Bison. The series quickly became one of the most well attended regular events in town and from it Beth has spawned an all-female songwriters circle that meets monthly with every member writing a song each month using a word or phrase that Beth provides ahead of time.

Cat Ridgeway, a singer/songwriter

hailing from Orlando, Florida, is a skilled lyricist and melodist. Her eclectic style shines through her ability to play guitar and harmonica, trumpet, trombone, drums, piano, and bass. She recently won indie rock duo Tegan and Sara’s worldwide cover contest and Eddie Owen Presents’ songwriter showcase in Atlanta. Her most recent single, “Whiskey Lullabies”, was recorded at Ardent Studios in Memphis, TN and can be found on iTunes, Amazon, and Spotify.

Formed in 2002,

Think Big

has become one of the most popular live bands in Orlando and throughout Central Florida. Their diversity in musical styles and remarkable precision in which they perform each song, whether it be Classic Rock, Motown, Blues, Country or your favorite dance tunes, has made them a hometown favorite. From our home state and beyond, we have had the privilege to play at some of the most exciting venues, including Bally’s Las Vegas and The Opryland Hotel in Nashville. THINK BIG is not just any ordinary ‘Live’ band! This five-seven piece ensemble offers all tastes for any event. From classic rock and dance tunes to Motown and everything in between.

Mike Petrovich

Unlike many guitarists, who are skilled in only one style of music, excels in five different styles: jazz, Latin, classical, rock, and pop. Mike was 17 years old when he began playing guitar in his hometown, Detroit, Michigan. Two years later, he moved to Orlando, and enrolled in the University of Central Florida, where he earned his Bachelor of Music Degree in Classical Guitar Performance. Mike has taught guitar at Seminole State College, Rollins College, and several other institutions. In addition, Mike has performed with various musical groups in most of the major hotels and resorts in the Orlando area, such as the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress, Peabody, Renaissance (Sea World), Mission Inn Resort, and many of the Disney Hotels. Currently, Mike is performing both solo and with his band. While performing solo, Mike is accompanied by backing tracks, which include harmony and rhythm guitars, drums, bass, and various keyboard and synthesizer parts. The accompaniment creates a “full band” sound. Mike’s repertoire includes songs from contemporary Nuevo Flamenco artists such as Strunz & Farah, Ottmar Liebert, Jesse Cook, and The Gipsy Kings, jazz artists such as Pat Metheny, The Rippingtons, Acoustic Alchemy, Craig Chaquico, Marc Antoine, and pop/rock artists such as Sting, Santana, The Eagles, Led Zeppelin, and Norah Jones..

The Swamp Sistas Songwriting Circle

A dozen women of varying ages and stages who share a passion for songwriting. The group began gathering monthly at Beth McKee’s home in early 2015, to workshop songs incorporating a word or phrase sent ahead of time. The gatherings birthed a collective that performs in-the-round for events, fundraisers and venues in the Central Florida area. The Sistas share their songs and stories, often jumping in to sing or play along on one another’s tunes. Swamp Sista Circle members include: Beth McKee, Hannah Harber, Shadow Pearson, Loi Jeannette, Renee Arozqueta, Kattya Graham, Kayonne Riley, and Tracey Gibbs.

David Julia

is more than a guitar prodigy delivering smokin’ spot-on lightening licks with killer grooves and rich vocals. As a young professional singer-songwriter he enjoys performing at festivals and concerts and has appeared with and played with some of the top names in the business such as JP Soars, Albert Castiglia, Victor Wainwright, Terry Hanck, Tom Hambridge, Selwyn Birchwood, Butch Trucks, Jarekus Singelton, Bob Margolin, and Tommy Castro just to name a few. David Julia is in his teens and dead serious about the blues. It is not surprising that he began performing at the young age of seven. With a recording under his belt and the future in front of him, we are seeing a diamond in the rough that will continue to be polished by experience and musical fortitude.

Maitland Middle School Jazz Ensemble Director Eric Mendez has taught Band in Central Florida since 1988. He is in his 15th year at Maitland Middle School where his Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band have played to musical standards rarely achieved by junior student musicians. In 2010, the Maitland Middle School One O’Clock Jazz Band was invited to feature performances at FMEA and ASBDA Conventions. The group has enjoyed straight Superior ratings for 15 years with Mr. Mendez as its director/conductor. In May 2014, the band was privileged to play at the Manhattan Riverside Cathedral in New York City, where students participated in a concert with the Maitland Middle School Orchestra and Chorus programs. The band also paid a visit to the world-renowned “Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra” during its visit.

Ukiah

The band is an acoustic trio with stunning 3 part harmony. They consist of Ronnie Lester on guitar, his daughter Lauren Lester on guitar and Chip Meyers on bass. All three are superb lead vocalists in their own right but together, the result is perfection. They take turns fronting the stage highlighting their talents. Lauren is also an acomplished song writer and a few of her self penned songs are included in the shows. We also have a 4th Ukiah, Mark Poole on guitar, who lends his talented vocals and upside down guitar magic to the mix upon occasion.
