Designed to be a statement, an eye-catcher and simultaneously offer leisurely comfort, the low lounge chair promises to suit contem porary living with ease. By communicating a strong visual, modern design, that calls to mind the voluminous, impressive shapes from the iconic design decades, the Meadow chair forms a memorable expression that will stay relevant and beautiful for years to come.
ORGANIC LINES INSPIRED BY THE SOOTHING SHAPES FOUND IN NATURE
Meadow is characterised by amiable organic shapes and curvy lines. Made from high-quality foam, the lounge chair persuasively portrays a solid yet soaring silhouette, while it offers a comfortable seating experience. A comfort that is enhanced by its wide seat combined with the lightly swaying metal frame. Constructed to support the movement of the human body.
Designed from the memory of sitting in high grass, swaying in the summer breeze, the Meadow lounge chair com bines soft upholstery with a modern graphic frame. With a desire to con vey the feeling of sitting in a meadow, the design carries an embracing and mellow aesthetic while the wide seat resembles open spaces.
The Meadow frame is available in three dif ferent finishes; classic black painted steel, modern chrome-plated steel and exclusive brushed stainless steel. With its wide and deep selection of high-quality fabric and leather options in numerous colours and structures, Meadow will suit any public space with ease. Also, the chair is tested for contract use.
Born and bred in southern Denmark, designer Finn Hvidberg Nielsen enjoyed spending time in the magical nature during the Danish summer as a child. The design of Meadow is based on one of these strong childhood memories from a fine summer day fifty years ago, exploring the verdant and fertile grassy fields. A memory that has been transformed into contemporary and sophisticated lines.
“Looking back on the sunkissed days, I was sit ting in the middle of a spacious, and for me back then, endless green and beautiful mead ow. I still remember this state of pure, focused being - completely present and at one with this fascinating beauty of nature,” Finn Hvidberg explains. A leisurely vibe that the inviting form of the low lounge chair echoes.

“For me, Meadow possesses a very significant function; the chair is able to stand completely alone and still shine. Just like a work of art. The shape, itself, is so iconic, it stands out and attracts attention effortlessly. At the same time, due to its organic shapes and sleek metal frame, it can easily be part of a styling with other WOUD designs - and I think that is an essential quality.
In addition to that, listening to the source of inspiration really made the design come to life. Designed to create the same feel as walking in a vigorous meadow. Relaxation. Equanimi ty. Recharging. Qualities and moods we all are seeking and longing for these days,”
- Mia Koed, Creative DirectorUTILISING THE ARTISTIC APPROACH FROM THE WORLD OF CERAMICS
Finn Hvidberg Nielsen is the designer behind Meadow. A sculptural designer and artist from South Denmark. Mainly shaping and creating ceramics, he runs his own studio and atelier on the small Danish island, Als, called Hvidberg Studio. Actually, the Meadow lounge chair is his very first launched furniture design.
He works in the intertwined fields of aesthetics and philosophy. A design process and approach where thoughts, perspectives and inspirations are interconnected and challenged to create new aesthetic concepts and shapes. Resulting in sprightly and admirable creations, that you easily will fall in love with.
A central theme for his creations is visual sym bolism and with that, a visual reflection and representation of stories through shapes. And the design of Meadow is no exception. Echoing the fine memory of joyful days surrounded by the Danish nature and all the associated emo tions it convey. A sense of presence. A sense of tranquility. A sense of genuine happiness when you feel the light breeze on your cheeks while you pick a spontaneous blend of flowers and grasses.
The creation of Meadow happened fairly untraditionally, Mia Koed tells;
“When Finn contacted us, he first pre sented some ceramic work, but then he mentioned that he was actually working on some furniture designs in very organic forms as well, which sounded very interesting to us. The first renderings were very futuristic. However, an early version of Mead ow caught my attention, and we were curious to see a simplified version of the outline.
Many renderings have gone back and forth since then until one day I opened my mail and there it was! And when we first saw the small scale model, we immediately fell in love with its enticing expression all over again”.
