Despite the incleme nt weather, an e njoyable day was sp e nt by all the parents and friends who aHended W .P. I.'s Pare nts' Day. After re gistration and a coffe e hour, the pare nts were gre ete d in Alden Memorial Auditorium. Then the parents had an opportunity to mee t with their son' s advisor. A luncheon and a speech by President Storke followe d . The day was topped oH by th e victorious football game.

All the parents received a basic understanding of how their sons live and work here at Worce ster Tech.

This Friday marks the end of second rush. rt is the day un which the freshmen make their final choice of fra ternity.

This is the final week- the ion~ week that ends two months or rushing. It is the week when the pressure is on.

However, it is also the week when every freshman must be objective and not lose si):lht or what he wan ts in a fraternity. fn l i~ht of this, it is appropriate that a few words be directed to lhe freshmen who are about to make the ir 'big' decis ion.

The first hit of advice is : do not give in under the ftnal pressure. Keep a cool head , <tnd don't a llow a week's heat or pressure to affect a decision that will influence the rest t>f your college li fc.

In the last few wee~ . we ha\•e seen in this column the discu:.sion of school spirit in ~eneral. a nd the spirit of the class of '66 in particular. \\' e ha,•e heard it aid that '66 is the ·•best .. class. until the re ounding shouts of this m uch discu sed class are becoming a bit meaningless, and to say the least. dull . Other;; ha\'e. in q uiet di J,rusl, cnlled us the least spirited Frosh clas in the hi ·tory of Tech. One fellow said that our class wru, spiritless becall!le it has seen no thin~ but very mild school spirit among tht· upperclassmen . \\'e did see very intense ·pirit for the ftr' t thirty-six hours of ha zi n~. but as so<m ~ we put up a bit of prote t. the Sophomore class backed down and let us be. Thi!- is hardly O\'erwhelming spiri l. fndcccl. if one tried fo r any lenKlh o{ •ime. one could build up a very powerful case of no spirit among the upperclassmen. Take for instance the recent theft of the Tau Reta Pi llent. While it may have been meant as a blow to the ci<L"S of '65. it looks rnorc like an in-ult to the uppercla men as a whole, and indeed w the pride that we here a t Tech have in " engineering excellence." Are you, the upperclassmen. doinj.\ an y thin~ ? :-\0 ! It seems a bit apathetic, and . piritl<~ss, if you can 't even m u~ ter the z.eal to repossess this trad itional symhol of excellence. While no unc ·eems to know who tuok the Bent . where they put it , or why they tuok it, I would guess that they were putting the upperclassmen to 11 test.
