Mobiliz-Ed China Goals 1. Increase College Entrance Exam Scores and the academic English skills they measure. 2. Expand Knowledge of Global Cultures and Issues among Chinese English teachers and students 3. Adapt rigorous precollege curriculum for students of all abilities 4. Create inexpensive, scalable model
2013-4 Mobiliz-Ed China Pilot Participants • 2 classes of 11th grade students (16 year olds) - one average, one above average • 4 English teachers – 3 Chinese Bilingual, 1 American, 1 Swedish Project Assistant • Tech support : 1 Chinese computer teacher, 1 NC-based tech consultant • NC-Based Curriculum & Pedagogy Director assisted by bilingual Chinese workstudy students. Teachers were given no extra time or compensation to participate. Other staffers were paid for no more than 10 hrs per week
Accomplishments 1. Creation of OER Content Library including e-books, free apps and tools, and 2 interactive, multimedia books created by project team. 2. Digital content that can run on Android and IOS systems 3. Digital library lives online, content accessed offline 4. Pilot selected for presentation by ChineseAmerican teacher team at UNESCO Mlearning Week – Paris, 2014. 5. School extends Mobile Pilot to all teachers, subjects and students in grades 7-12 in 2014-5 under Principal’s direction.
