Swan Lake Act II (Tchaikovsky/Balanchine)

The Company Premiere of George Balanchine’s stunning “White Act – from the most famous of all ballets. It was a love doomed from the start.

THE four temperaments (Hindemith/Balanchine)

This is Balanchine’s groundbreaking modern abstract ballet. Allusive scenes and images suggested by the “four temperaments of medieval medicine and philosophy (Melancholic, Sanguinic, Phlegmatic and Choleric) make this a vision of momentum and urgency, uniting the human condition.

“the FOX-TROT: Dancing In The Dark” (Carmichael, Parish, Ellington, et.al./Villella)

Romance and jealousy are all part of the high-energy Act III from Edward Villella’s The Neighborhood Ballroom. This lively romp through American ballroom dance and swing music of the forties will have your feet tapping to the beat of big band’s Duke Ellington, Artie Shaw and others.

Mercuric Tidings (Schubert/Taylor)

Our Company Premiere of this whirlpool of activity created by contemporary master Paul Taylor. Almost too much for the eye to take in at one time, it embodies the excitement and athleticism that Taylor is known for.

This plotless masterpiece pays homage to the spirit and grandeur of imperial St. Petersburg. Balanchine described it as “a contemporary tribute to Petipa, the father of classical ballet, and to Tchaikovsky, his greatest composer.”
