SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES YOUNG WRITERS’ GROUPS FROM SEPTEMBER 2015 ONWARDS
YOUNG WRITERS Writing West Midlands is the region’s literature development agency, one of seven such agencies in the UK supporting creative writers and creative writing. We work with writers of all ages, but specialise in work with young writers aged 8-20. We have 21 Write On! Young Writers’ Groups, which meet monthly across the West Midlands. These are led by professional writers who help children to make the most of their talents. The Young Writers’ Groups are partly subsidised by our funding from Arts Council England. To enable us to continue to support the groups, we are seeking local sponsors who want to invest in young people, too.
“Since attending your writing group his written work has significantly improved. His work is far more expressive and descriptive. I can’t thank you all enough!” - Feedback from a parent of a Write On! Young Writer’s Group member.
Arts Council England, the Department of Health and many leading healthcare experts believe that the arts have an important part to play in improving the health and wellbeing of people in many ways. There is an accepted positive relationship between creative writing and health and wellbeing. Children involved tell us that it improves their writing—with benefits for their education—and gives them confidence to invest time in their creativity.
“My daughter was a very shy teenager and this has been a real bonus at improving her social skills. She has come a long way and is very confident now.” - Feedback from a parent of a Write On! Young Writer’s Group member.
We are seeking sponsorship for our 2015/16 year, which will begin in September 2015. Our twenty-one Young Writers groups meet across the region. We would be delighted to discuss the most appropriate group for you to sponsor. For illustration purposes, we are using the word Birmingham in the text below. Sponsor benefits include: •
