Incredible play of light and sound, live orchestra, dozens of artists, Spirits of Wrocław, and history of the city in the 20th century. As soon as on 17 December, inside the incredible Centennial Hall, a multi-performance "Sky Web" will take place - the last instalment of the "Flow Quartet" telling the history of Wrocław and its residents. It is a climax of the project and at the same time the Closing Ceremony of the programme of the European Capital of Culture 2016. This is the only part of the Quartet which moves indoors - the largest roof in Wrocław, the roof of the Centennial Hall. "Sky Web" is a

story of three generations of women, residents of Wrocław, who embody the incredible way the city has gone in the 20th century. On stage we will see the residents of Wrocław who started their story about the city in 2015 co-creating the "Bridges" project - performance on 27 bridges and overpasses of Wrocław. Now, to end their amazing adventure they have become co-creators of the performance which thousands of people will be able to see. Once again we will see the Spirits of Wrocław. The steel constructions, awakened in January, will become a stage design of the show,

speechless but expressive witnesses of the history of Breslau/Wrocław. The space of the Hall will be filled up with music that we could hear during the January "Opening Ceremony" and in June, during the multiperformance "Flow" taking place by the River Odra. Wrocław will be re-visited by the orchestra and choruses from Poland and Israel which performed in June. Venue: Centennial Hall, ul. WROsound is a festival presenting the broad musical horizons. The line-up of each edition of the festival is determined by the Odra River, which thanks to its natural paths shows the direction of the search for bands, ensembles and innovative music projects In past years, the participants had the opportunity to listen to music created by artists not only from Poland, but also from the Czech Republic and Germany. Since 2009, the festival has featured

10

over 90 bands and over 100 hours of live music. During WROsound, everyone will be able to find something for themselves – lovers of calm melodies, fans of electronic compositions, heavy sound aficionados and those looking for new, intriguing projects. This year’s edition of the event is a part of the ECoC Wrocław 2016 CLOSING WEEKEND. The two Impart concert halls (and other spaces) will see: Christian Löffler & Mohna, Pink Freud A_GIM feat. Novika & Klark, Legendary Afrojax, WE DRAW A, and MIN t. Of course music knows no borders; however, young people are the main target of the festival. WROsound makes an effort to meet requirements of the native residents of Wrocław, students from across Poland, as well as the foreign students. Venue: Impart, ul. Friendship Festival – this is the motto of the first edition of Friendship Festival. The 15th anniversary of OCN’s (formerly Ocean) activity on stage is a perfect opportunity to bring a group of artists, connected by deep personal relationships despite working with distant musical genres, on one stage. The Friendship Festival, which will take place on 15 December at Orbita Hall in Wrocław, will feature bands that

do not need any special recommendation Happysad, Raz Dwa Trzy, and Muchy. Additionally, outstanding artists such as Lech Janerka, Monika Borzym, Olaf Deriglasoff and frontman of Jamal – Tomasz “Miodu” Mioduszewski already confirmed their active participation in the event. OCN, still as Ocean, was brought to life in Wrocław in 2001. The band has played over 800 gigs, released seven albums, and was nominated

to Fryderyk Music Award. The first album of the band OCN, "Waterfall" was produced by the Grammy Award winner, Vance Powell (producer of, among others, The White Stripes, The Raconteurs, Kings Of Leon, and The Dead Weather). Promoting the album OCN appeared on both foreign festivals (among others Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg or Sziget Festival in Budapest) and most important Polish festivals (among others, Orange Warsaw Festival where, as the only Polish band it opened the performance of Beyoncé). In August 2016 OCN appeared on the Wrocław Stadium as part of the Capital of Rock and played next to such stars as Rammstein, Limp Bizkit, or Gojira. In September the band opened the Polish concert of Kings Of Leon. Venue: Orbita Hall, ul. Wejherowska 34 Organizer: Ocean Management www.festiwalprzyjazni.pl Admission charged

"Il Trovatore" by Giuseppe Verdi is the first première of the Opera in Wrocław in season 2016/2017. A lot has been written about the work of the Italian composer; its musical qualities have been praised but its allegedly libretto has been exposed to criticism. However, the story of the main characters in simple and clear. "Il Trovatore" is a story with a classic triangle of characters - the lovers, Leonora and Manrico, and Count di Luna, jealous of their feelings. The ending brings a final solution to the tragic set of circumstances. The staging of "Il Trovatore" has been prepared in cooperation with the Latvian National Opera. Riga was the European Capital of Culture in 2014; the very same year a premiere of "Il Trovatore" took place at the Latvian National Opera. The realization of the Wrocław Opera,

Masterpieces of painting form the National Gallery in Berlin. Joachim Wagener's Collection It is the first time a fragment of a collection which constitutes a basis for one of the best-known European museums - the National Gallery in Berlin, will be presented in Poland. The German banker and art patron Joachim Heinrich Wilhelm Wagener for years collected works of painters of his times, mainly from Germany, but also from other European countries in order to hand them over to the state and create an open National Gallery. The works gathered by him make up a representative world of European painting of the first half of the 19th century. Venue: City Museum of Wrocław, Royal Palace, ul. Bishop Karl Ferdinand von Vasa, the patron of art, is also mentioned. The title of the exhibition makes a perverse reference to a widely spread fear among inhabitants of Wrocław (which persisted many years past the war) that the return of the previous inhabitants, Germans, triggers a series of consequences. The artists who have been invited to participate in the exhibition will explore traces of the past and bring the realistic truth back to life. Then, they will make them available for the recipients who will be able to objectively form their own bias and understanding and search for their newly faceted meaning. Integrator // Agnieszka Casting // Iza Rutkowska Bocheńska-Niemiec Last year the artist carried out and Przemysław Chimczak some actions in the area of

The project consists of artistic interventions within the interesting public space of the City of Wrocław, with an emphasis on its backyards. Artists working in a given space cooperate with the residents so that the solutions were their common negotiated work. The project’s objective is to raise awareness amongst the Wrocław inhabitants about their communal responsibility for “no man’s land” areas, which are often vacated and disregarded. At the same time we want to trigger the residents' potential to take actions - to activate them. We would also like to directly reach the residents and organise, still very rare, direct meeting of the recipients with the artists. Venue: City space Organizer: ECoC Wrocław 2016 www.wroclaw2016.pl/podworze Admission free

The workshop has a studio or exhibition character designed for sharing experiences among local community and artists and animators. All residents of Wrocław are welcome, in particular residents of Przedmieście Oławskie. The initiative is directed both for children, young people, and seniors. Venue: Komuny Paryskiej 45 Workshop www.wroclaw2016.pl/pracownia

The aim of the project is to integrate local community living in ul. Waryńskiego, in Sępolno. As a result of the carried out debate it turned out that the residents need space for different kinds of activities. Artists presented the residents an installation which, instead of enforcing specific behaviours, would encourage them to be more creative. For some it is going to be a meeting place and for other a field playground. The facility will be ready in the second half of November. Venue: Square by the flowerbed, ul. Waryńskiegoj

Also adults gathered around the hedgehog. New neighbourly relations were established. The artist organised also a crowd-funding event; as a result children were able to go on a camp. Currently, Iza Rutkowska decided to organise a "Casting" where the neighbours will be able to submit their own ideas of creative actions for the surroundings and the residents and later execute the idea together with the artist. Christian Lillinger’s GRUND

"Kobietostan" / final presentation of the project

Christian Lillinger provides safe ground with his compositions (German word "Grund" means ground). Their boundaries are frequently very liberal - for example: open spaces allowing the soloist to express his irrepressible creativity being part of the composition. It is Christian's dream line-up. Apart from GRUND those world-recognised musicians cooperated with each other in various configurations.

"Kobietostan" is a project about women, for women, and created by women. Magdalena Mądra, a photographer, and Mariae Śmiarowska, an actress - led by Agnieszka Bresler of Jubilo Foundation - carried out a series of meetings and workshops at Female Detention Ward of the Prison No. 1 in Wrocław and St. Brother Albert's Shelter for Women and Mothers with Children. Actions with the charges of these units became a starting point for the artists to come up with an original performance. On 4 December we will be able to see the effect of their work.
