Chiltern League Round-Up

The Chiltern Cross Country League is for athletic clubs in the North West Home Counties, specifically Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Middlesex, Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire. VoAAC enters teams into the league each year and encourages all athletes within the club to compete. It is a great way for track and field athletes to maintain fitness during the winter.

Campbell Park and Shuttleworth College The final two (of five) Chiltern League rounds took place in January and February at two venues in different counties. The January round took place at Campbell Park in Milton Keynes. 39 Vale athletes took part with the top performances coming from Emile Jansen Van Rensburgh who claimed 9th in the U13 boys race with 10th place finishes for Kieran Lindars in the senior men’s race (6th in division 1), and Bali Horten in the U11 boys. Sophie Delderfield managed a creditable 13th in the senior women’s race (9th in division 1 and 2nd vet 35.)

The 5th and final round took place at Shuttleworth College in Biggleswade but unfortunately traffic and logistical issues at the venue meant that many were stuck in vehicles for long stretches, some missed their race while other races were cancelled altogether! Of those that were able to get a final race of the season, there were some fantastic performances on show and team results especially from the junior section. Luca Dolan took the highest VoAAC placing on the day with a superb 2nd in the U11 boys race. Not far behind were Peter Huck (making his VoAAC debut) with 4th and Kieran Lindars (6th) in the senior men’s race. Lucinda McRonald ran well to finish 13th (10th in division 1) in the U13 girls race.
