We might be trivial... but when some single-seater goes through Monza, an important racetrack which, undoubtedly, has written the history of the motorsport, a certain enthusiasm cannot be hidden. The Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth, knowing very well the value of structure, since the first edition of the championship has made a stop here, in the certainty that to “throw into the fray” some young racers in this type of context may reveal itself an important upgrade for their careers. Whichever way the race will go, in fact, when they will rest their mind and muscles in some hidden corner of the paddock, they will be able to realize with a calm mind, to have lived an unforgettable experience, experimenting firsthand the myth of an asphalt ribbon which has greeted the companies of all the best and strongest racers of the motor sport. Vettel, Prost, Senna, Schumacher and Hamilton are, just to name a few, all names that here in Monza have triumphed in F1. Important drivers who cannot be but an inspiring example for the young F.4 racers and a promise of a potential future.

Saremo banali... ma quando delle monoposto passano per Monza, un autodromo importante, che indubbiamente ha scritto la storia del motorsport, non si può nascondere un certo entusiasmo. L’ Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth, ben conoscendo il valore della struttura, sin dalla prima edizione di campionato ha fatto tappa qui, nella certezza che “buttare nella mischia” dei giovani piloti in un contesto di questo genere può rivelarsi un upgrade importante per la loro carriera. Comunque andrà la gara, infatti, a mente fredda, quando riposeranno testa e muscoli in qualche angolo nascosto del paddock, potranno rendersi conto di avere vissuto un’esperienza indimenticabile, sperimentando in prima persona il mito di un nastro d’asfalto che ha salutato le imprese di tutti i più forti piloti dell’automobilismo sportivo. Vettel, Prost, Senna, Schumacher e Hamilton sono, giusto per citarne un po’, tutti nomi che qui a Monza hanno trionfato in F1. Piloti importanti che non possono che essere un esempio per i giovani della F.4, e una promessa di possibile futuro.

The Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth in its first ever time outside of Italy began with a surprise. On the French track of Le Castellet, in the second event of the season, the two drivers in pole position did not start on the right foot. In race 1, the leader Enzo Fittipaldi (Prema Theodore Racing) started in seventh position due to a penalty and, at the start, messed up by breaking the wing and colliding his opponent Leonardo Lorandi (Bhaitech). The result? Withdrawal for both and penalties for Fittipaldi applicable to race 2. Olli Caldwell (Prema Theodore Racing) took advantage of the situation. He was the protagonist of a great start in which he overtook Vesti (Van Amersfoort Racing) and Petecof (Prema Theodore Racing), and did well to defend his first position until the finish line, closing with an advantage of over 4 seconds. Vesti, who managed the fastest lap, came second before Tobi Sovery (KDC Racing). After a good comeback, Petr Ptacek (Bhaitech) came fourth, the best of the rookies ahead of Krutten (BWT Mucke Motorsport) and Morozov (KDC Racing).

L’Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth nella sua prima assoluta fuori dai confini italiani comincia nel segno della sorpresa. Nel tracciato francese de Le Castellet, seconda stappa stagionale, i due piloti che si presentano in testa alla graduatoria non cominciano con il piede giusto. In gara 1, il leader Enzo Fittipaldi (Prema Theodore Racing) parte in settima posizione a causa di una penalità e, al momento del via, pasticcia rompendo l’ala e centrando proprio il suo avversario Leonardo Lorandi (Bhaitech). Risultato? Ritiro per entrambi e penalità per Fittipaldi da scontare in gara 2. Ad approfittare della situazione è Olli Caldwell (Prema Theodore Racing), protagonista di un ottimo scatto al via con il quale supera Vesti (Van Amersfoort Racing) e Petecof (Prema Theodore Racing), e bravo a difendere la prima posizione sin sul traguardo, chiudendo con oltre 4 secondi di vantaggio. Secondo è Vesti, autore del giro veloce, che precede Tobi Sovery (KDC Racing). The rain started in race 2. A heavy rain that forced the race to start behind the safety car. In pole position, after the Fittipaldi’s grid penalty taken in Race 1, was Olli Caldwell (Prema Theodore Racing) who, however, after a couple of laps in the lead, ended up spinning and passing the leadership of the race to Frederik Vesti (Vam Amersfoort Racing). The Dane, who started in second position, quickly took advantage of the mistake and was mature enough to manage the difficult conditions of the track without risking anything. Fittipaldi was just behind him and, despite the penalty, was able to recover and close the race in a position that earned him important points in the championship. The Argentine Giorgio Carrara (Jenzer Motorsport) was third, boldly overtaking Gianluca Petecof (Prema Theodore Racing) just a few moments before the race was stopped by the red flag due to the rain worsening. Among the rookies, Petecof won in front of Doohan (Prema Theodore Racing) and Ptacek (Bhaitech).

In gara 2 arriva la pioggia. Una pioggia battente che costringe a far partire la corsa dietro la safety car. In pole position, dopo l’arretramento di Fittipaldi (Prema Theodore Racing) per la penalità rimediata in gara 1, c’è Olli Caldwell (Prema Theodore Racing) che, però, dopo un paio di giri al comando, finisce in testacoda e cede la leadership della corsa a Frederik Vesti (Vam Amersfoort Racing). Il danese, partito in seconda posizione, è lesto ad approfittare dell’errore ed è maturo nel gestire le difficili condizioni del tracciato senza rischiare nulla. Alle sue spalle risale Fittipaldi che, nonostante la penalità, è abile nel rimontare e chiudere la gara in una posizione che significa punti importanti in chiave campionato. Terzo l’argentino Giorgio Carrara (Jenzer Motorsport), autore di un audace sorpasso ai danni di Gianluca Petecof (Prema Theodore Racing) proprio pochi istanti prima che la gara venga fermata dalla bandiera rossa a causa dell’inasprirsi delle precipitazioni. Tra i rookie, vince Petecof davanti a Doohan (Prema Theodore Racing) e Ptacek (Bhaitech).

The rain did not even abandon the last race of the French weekend. The wet asphalt once again exalted the driving skills of the Dane Frederik Vesti (Vam Amersfoort Racing) who after race 2 also won race 3, closing with a good advantage. Olli Caldwell (Prema Theodore Racing), who came second, with an advantage of over three seconds, did well to redeem himself after spinning in the previous race. Once again among the protagonists was Fittipaldi (Prema Theodore Racing): the Brazilian started in pole position and, despite being overtaken immediately, tried in every possible way to stay close to Vesti. The desire to excel, however, made him lower his guard against his pursuers, so that, in the end, Fittipaldi closed in fifth place behind an excellent Tobi Sowery (KDR Racing), up from seventh place, and Leonardo Lorandi (Bhaitech), who achieved the fastest lap. Gianluca Petecof (Prema Theodore Racing) confirmed himself as one of the rookies to watch: for him an overall sixth place which means, once again, first place among the rookies in front of Ptacek (Bhaitech) and Laganella (Cram Motorsport).

La pioggia non abbandona neanche l’ultima gara del weekend francese. L’asfalto bagnato esalta ancora una volta le capacità di guida del danese Frederik Vesti (Vam Amersfoort Racing) che dopo gara 2 fa sua anche gara 3, chiudendo con un discreto vantaggio. Secondo, a oltre tre secondi, è Olli Caldwell (Prema Theodore Racing), bravo a riscattarsi dopo il testacoda della gara precedente. Ancora tra i protagonisti Fittipaldi (Prema Theodore Racing): il brasiliano parte dalla pole position e, nonostante si faccia bruciare subito, prova in tutti i modi a rimanere attaccato a Vesti. La voglia di primeggiare, però, gli fa abbassare le difese nei confronti di chi lo insegue, tanto che, alla fine, Fittipaldi chiude quinto preceduto da un ottimo Tobi Sowery (KDR Racing), risalito dalla settima piazza, e Leonardo Lorandi (Bhaitech), autore del giro veloce. Olli Caldwell is third. Behind him, left behind by a single length, we find Frederik Vesti, absent in race 1 at Adria, in strong comeback thanks to the double first places obtained in the French leg of the Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth. F.4 ROOKIE In the rank dedicated to the beginners, the leading couple is always composed by Gianluca Pedecof (135 points) and Peter Ptacek (100 points). The two, although it is still too early to be completely sure of ourselves, seem to have more continuity than the competition: the third in the standings, Marzio Moretti, stands at 56 points. Behind him, though, the race is very tight, with three racers Laganella, Cohen and Krutten - next to each other within just 5 points. Nella classifica dedicata agli esordienti la coppia in testa è sempre formata da Gianluca Pedecof (135 punti) e Petr Ptacek (100). I due, anche se è ancora presto per sbilanciarsi, sembrano avere maggiore continuità rispetto alla concorrenza: il terzo in classifica, Marzio Moretti, è a quota 56 punti. Alle sue spalle, però, la lotta è serratissima, con tre piloti Laganella, Cohen e Krutten - racchiusi in appena 5 punti.

In third place we find the Van Amersfoort Racing, while hitting the 9 racing teams still at 0 points. A sign that there is ample margin in the next races to totally scramble the cards. Prema Theodore Racing sempre più sola al comando: la squadra italiana, dopo due gare, tocca quota 182 punti, distanziando di 78 lunghezze la diretta inseguitrice: Bhaitech. A CHAMPIONSHIP OPEN TO EVERYONE Since the beginning of its adventure, one of the stronger and more important points of the Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth, has been that of being able to demonstrate itself as a very important reference point for the entire world of the realities of single-seat karts. To prove it, there are the over thirty different teams which, during the first four years of the championship, participated in at least one of the races. A considerable number which, next to the by now, “historical and established” teams that are always present in all of the races, is in conjunction with the many different teams, smaller or in the beginning stages of their careers that have equally found the ideal arena to express themselves. In 2018, following the same path, as in the first two championship rounds, there were 13 teams present with at least one vehicle, a very significant number. Amongst them, there were 3 new entries: KDC Racings, AS Motorsport and Technorace. KDC, specifically, was able to make it to the podium in 2 events, thus providing a further indication of how the Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth is a competitive and accessible racing sport like few others in the motorsport scene.

Fin dall’inizio della sua avventura, uno dei punti di forza dell’Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth è stato quello di sapersi dimostrare un punto di riferimento importante per tutte le realtà del mondo delle monoposto. A dimostrarlo, ci sono gli oltre trenta team diversi che, nel corso dei primi 4 anni di campionato, hanno partecipato ad almeno una gara. Un numero considerevole, che accanto a realtà ormai “storiche”, sempre presenti a tutte le gare, affianca molti nomi di strutture più piccole, o emergenti, che, qui, hanno trovato anche loro la dimensione ideale per esprimersi. Anche il 2018 prosegue sulla stessa scia: nei primi due round di campionato sono stati ben 13 i team presenti in pista con almeno una vettura. Tra loro, anche tre ”new entry” assolute: KDC Racing; AS Motorsport e Technorace, con KDC, in particolare, capace di salire già due volte sul podio. Un ulteriore segnale di come l’Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth sia un campionato accessibile e competitivo come pochi altri nel panorama del motorsport.

MONZA, NICE TO MEET YOU AGAIN!

The Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth, as tradition has it, goes through Monza too. After all, how could an Italian competition not involve a track that, more than any other, has managed to create the enginesâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; history of this Country and not only? Planned in 1922, already in the realization phase it was immediately understood that its name would have rhymed with speed as the track was completed and inaugurated in just 110 days! Currently, Monza is a standing monument for Formula One, but in its recent years the structure has also been part of unique events. In 1989, it starred in the musical field by hosting the Pink Floyd, who gathered within it more than sixty thousand fans. In 2017, the field was related to the cycling sport and the organization of an individual time-trials of the Giro dâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;Italia. Today, we are coming back for the fifth year in a row, with the singleseat karts which race in the competition designed by the WSK Promotion. What changes every time is the context, yet what remains consistently unchanged is the show.

L’Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth, come da tradizione, passa anche per Monza. D’altronde, una competizione italiana come potrebbe non transitare per la pista che, più di ogni altra, è riuscita a fare la storia dei motori di questo Paese e non solo? Progettata nel 1922, già nella fase di realizzazione si capì subito che il suo nome avrebbe fatto rima con velocità: il tracciato, infatti, fu completato e inaugurato in appena 110 giorni. Oggi, Monza è un appuntamento fisso della Formula 1, ma nel suo recente passato la struttura si è prestata anche a singolari esperimenti. Nel 1989 fu protagonista in ambito musicale ospitando i Pink Floyd, che riuscirono a richiamare al suo interno oltre sessantamila persone. Nel 2017 fu la volta del ciclismo, con l’organizzazione di una tappa a cronometro del Giro d’Italia. Oggi ci tornano, per il quinto anno di fila, le monoposto che corrono nella competizione ideata dalla WSK Promotion. A cambiare, ogni volta, è il contesto. A rimanere immutato è sempre lo spettacolo.

ITALIAN F.4 CHAMPIONSHIP

REGULATIONS TYRES PNEUMATICI One Brand PIRELLI must be provided of the following sizes and models: . Slick Tyres: Front: 200/540-13. Rear: 250/575-13. . Wet Tyres: Front: 200/540-13. Rear: 250/575-13. The maximum number of slick tyres to be used in free practices for each car at each event is limited to n° 1 (one) new complete set; the use of maximum one set of marked tyres is also permitted, for any race, in the last event in which the car has participated. Slick tyres allotment for each vehicle at Qualifying Sessions and Races is of n° 4 front tyres new; n° 4 rear tyres new. Non-compliance with this provision will be sanctioned by the Race Officials, up to exclusion from the race. Rain tyres allocation for each vehicle at Official Qualifying Sessions and Races is limited to n° 4 front tyres new; n° 4 rear tyres new.

ENGINE MOTORE

All vehicles must compulsorily use engine Abarth 414TF 1400 cc. Fire Turbo supplied by ABARTH. Each conductor, for each event, will be combined with a single motor. This combination will be declared in writing to C.T., on the occasion of antegara event checks in question. With this engine is due to take part in all the tests prescribed in the course of the event (free practice, qualifying, races, etc.). The engine can be replaced during the event; such replacement will include the sanction of relegation ten places on the grid for the next race. That penalty will not be applied only if the Commissioners will have found one of the two following cases: . the replacement of the engine is due to an accident caused by another conductor; . the replacement of the engine is due to manufacturing defects recognized by automotive engines.

Monofornitura PIRELLI delle seguenti dimensioni e modelli: . Pneumatici slick: Anteriori: 200/540-13. Posteriori: 250/575-13. . Pneumatici wet: Anteriori: 200/540-13. Posteriori: 250/575-13. La dotazione di pneumatici slick per ciascuna vettura a ogni manifestazione relativamente alle Prove Libere sarà limitata a n° 1 (uno) set completo nuovo; è consentito inoltre l’utilizzo di max un treno di pneumatici punzonati, nell’ultima manifestazione, a cui si è partecipato. La dotazione di pneumatici slick per ciascuna vettura a ogni manifestazione, relativamente a Prove Ufficiali di Qualificazione e Gare sarà limitata a n° 4 pneumatici anteriori nuovi; n° 4 pneumatici posteriori nuovi. Il mancato rispetto di questa norma sarà sanzionato dagli Ufficiali di Gara preposti fino all’esclusione dalla gara. La dotazione degli pneumatici rain per ciascuna vettura a ogni manifestazione relativamente a Prove Ufficiali di Qualificazione e Gare sarà limitata a n° 4 pneumatici anteriori nuovi; n° 4 pneumatici posteriori nuovi.

Tutte le vetture utilizzeranno obbligatoriamente il motore Abarth 414TF 1400 cc. Fire Turbo fornito dall’ABARTH. Ogni conduttore, per ciascun evento, sarà abbinato ad un solo motore. Tale abbinamento sarà dichiarato per iscritto ai C.T., in occasione delle verifiche ante gara dell’evento in questione. Con tale motore il Conduttore dovrà prendere parte a tutte le prove previste nel corso della Manifestazione (prove libere, prove ufficiali, gare, etc.). Il motore potrà essere sostituito nel corso della manifestazione; tale sostituzione prevederà la sanzione della retrocessione di dieci posizioni sulla griglia di partenza della gara successiva. Tale sanzione non verrà applicata solo se i Commissari avranno riscontrato uno dei due seguenti casi: . la sostituzione del motore è dovuta ad incidente causato da un altro conduttore; . la sostituzione del motore è dovuta a difetti di fabbricazione riconosciuta da Autotecnica Motori.

I Premi maturati saranno corrisposti solo e soltanto se il Conduttore avrà partecipato ad almeno 5 Manifestazioni. In caso di mancata assegnazione dei premi ACI SPORT si riserva il diritto di deciderne altra eventuale destinazione.
