WSK Super Master Series, Rd. 4 2023 | Cremona

In the first three rounds of the Super Master Series, there was a different winner for each race, in all five categories (KZ2, OK, OKJ, MINI Gr.3 and MINI Gr.3 U10). “Record-breaking” results, thanks to the highly competitive level of the championship with regulations that made it so that everyone was on the same mechanical level. Elements which also added the adoption of incremental scoring, which further adds a dynamic and a highly competitive balanced sporting venue. Now the time has come to understand who - albeit in a really tight competitive scenariowill be able to stand out from the others. In fact, the last round has numerous drivers in the running for all of the championship titles that are up for grabs and even the slightest mistake could be the decisive factor of who claims the number 1 spot! An additional variable, the Cremona Circuit, a new racing venue in our 2023 calendar with a brand-new track. Undoubtedly, as we have had the opportunity to appreciate this in the previous weeks – in Lonato, Franciacorta and Sarno – we will witness a one-of-a-kind show, made up of excitement, skirmishes, and many other opportunities that come out of events like this one. But our race does not end here because, once the Super Master Series is over, we will continue with our journey under the banner of great international karting. And you can be with us all the way!

Nei primi tre appuntamenti della Super Master Series abbiamo registrato un diverso vincitore in occasione di ogni gara, per tutte e cinque le categorie (KZ2, OK, OKJ, MINI Gr.3 e MINI Gr.3 U10). Un risultato “da primato”, merito soprattutto dell’alto livello di competitività del campionato e di un regolamento capace di mettere tutti sullo stesso piano, elementi ai quali si aggiunge anche l’adozione del punteggio incrementale, che aggiunge ulteriore brio a un quadro sportivo altamente competitivo ed equilibrato. Ora, però, è arrivato il momento di capire chi - seppur in quadro agonistico davvero combattuto - sarà in grado di svettare sugli altri: l’ultimo round vede in corsa numerosi piloti per tutti i titoli in palio e ogni minimo errore potrà essere determinante. A questo si aggiunge anche una ulteriore variabile, il circuito di Cremona, una new-entry del nostro calendario 2023 e una novità per molti partecipanti. Di sicuro, come abbiamo avuto modo di apprezzare nelle scorse settimane - a Lonato, Franciacorta e Sarno - assisteremo a uno spettacolo unico nel suo genere, fatto di emozioni, battaglie e colpi di scena. Ma la nostra corsa non finisce qui perché, conclusa la Super Master Series, proseguiremo con il nostro viaggio all’insegna del grande karting internazionale. E voi con noi!

In his fourth appearance in the KZ2 category, Freddie Slater (Birel Art/TM) achieves his longawaited first triumph. The British driver is very fast right from the get-go during the qualifying practice, where he attains the best lap time of the 2nd session and second spot in the overall combined standings. This is preceded only by Emilien Denner (Sodikart/ TM). Cristian Bertuca (Birel Art/TM) and Giuseppe Palomba (Birel Art/TM) overtake the English and French drivers in the standings at the end of the qualifying heats. Yet Denner’s response is not long in coming. The Sodikart driver wins the prefinals A race and takes the second spot on the starting grid, with Palomba in the pole position and Bertuca in third slot. After the beginning of the weekend’s decisive events, Palomba, Denner and Bertuca maintain their starting positions, followed by Tom Leuillet (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Slater. On lap 2, Denner is overtaken by Bertuca and, after a few corners, a contact with Leuillet (who withdraws from the race) sets him back several positions. Subsequently, Bertuca, Slater and Matteo Viganò (Birel Art/TM) oust Palomba and joust for the victory. In the end, after taking the lead of the race in the second to last lap, Slater triumphs, ahead of Viganò (second) and Bertuca (third).

Alla quarta presenza nella categoria KZ2, Freddie Slater (Birel Art/TM) ottiene il tanto atteso primo successo. Il britannico è velocissimo già a partire dalle prove cronometrate, dove ottiene il miglior tempo del gruppo 2 e il secondo posto nella classifica combinata, preceduto dal solo Emilien Denner (Sodikart/TM). Cristian Bertuca (Birel Art/ TM) e Giuseppe Palomba (Birel Art/TM) scavalcano l’inglese e il francese in classifica al termine delle qualifying heat. Ma la risposta di Denner non si fa attendere. Il pilota Sodikart vince la prefinale A e ottiene il secondo posto sulla griglia di partenza della finale, con Palomba in pole position e Bertuca in terza posizione. Al via della gara decisiva del weekend, Palomba, Denner e Bertuca mantengono le loro posizioni di partenza, seguiti da Tom Leuillet (Tony Kart/Vortex) e Slater. Al 2° giro, Denner subisce il sorpasso di Bertuca e, dopo poche curve, un contatto con Leuillet (che si ritira) lo arretra di diverse posizioni. Successivamente, Bertuca, Slater e Matteo Viganò (Birel Art/TM) spodestano Palomba e si giocano la vittoria: alla fine, dopo aver preso il comando della corsa solo alla penultima tornata, trionfa Slater, davanti a Viganò (secondo) e Bertuca (terzo).

Right at the crucial moment of the weekend, Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart/Vortex) takes over the lead and wins the race. Initially, the Italian keeps himself in the shadows and finishes sixth in Friday’s qualifying practice, while teammate James Egozi (Tony Kart/ Vortex) takes the pole position, with René Lammers (Parolin/TM) in the second slot. Two other drivers stand out in the qualifying heats: Jan Przyrowski (Tony Kart/Vortex) and David Walther (Tony Kart/ Vortex), respectively conquering first and second place in the intermediate standings, ahead of Egozi and Lammers. The prefinals change around the positions of everyone in the event, this time with Walther as the new leader and Egozi in the role of first runner up. In the final, Walther maintains the lead after the first corner, with Przyrowski, Coluccio, Egozi and Lammers right on his heels, its bumper-tobumper driving at its best. Among these, Coluccio stands out: in the middle of the race he grabs the top spot and run away, untouched, towards the victory. Lammers wins the battle for the second place, while Egozi fights for the third position that endorses him ahead of everyone else in the overall championship season final.

Proprio nel momento decisivo del weekend, Luigi Coluccio (Tony Kart/Vortex) emerge dal gruppo e vince. Inizialmente, l’italiano si tiene nell’ombra e ottiene il sesto posto nelle qualifiche di venerdì, mentre il compagno di squadra James Egozi (Tony Kart/Vortex) sigla la pole position, con René Lammers (Parolin/TM) in seconda posizione. Nelle qualifying heat si mettono in mostra altri due piloti: Jan Przyrowski (Tony Kart/Vortex) e David Walther (Tony Kart/Vortex) conquistano rispettivamente il primo e il secondo posto nella classifica intermedia, davanti a Egozi e a Lammers. Le prefinali rimescolano di nuovo i valori in campo, stavolta con Walther come nuovo leader ed Egozi nel ruolo di primo inseguitore. Nella finale, Walther mantiene il comando dopo la prima curva, con Przyrowski, Coluccio, Egozi e Lammers subito alle calcagna. Tra questi svetta proprio Coluccio: a metà corsa agguanta la leadership della gara e vola indisturbato verso la vittoria. Lammers la spunta nella bagarre per il secondo posto, invece Egozi conquista la terza posizione che lo conferma davanti a tutti in campionato.

Salim Hanna Hernandez (LN/Vortex) is once again on the podium, this time as the winner of the race. The weekend opens with the pole position going to Oleksandr Bondarev (KR/Iame), while Hanna Hernandez takes fifth place in the qualifying practice. The subsequent qualifying heats, confirm once again, that Bondarev is in the lead with Elliot Kaczynski (Tony Kart/Vortex) in second and Hanna Hernandez in third, but the results of the prefinals, once again, mix things up and Kaczynski gathers up the first position, with Bondarev and Hanna Hernandez right behind him. The final initially witness a duel between Kaczynski and Hanna Hernandez, later joined by Kirill Dzitiev (Tony Kart/ Vortex), Bondarev, Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM) and Tiziano Monza (Parolin/TM). Soon, however, the first place becomes a two-way affair between Hanna Hernandez and Bondarev: on the last lap, the Ukrainian tries to overtake him at the last turn, but the Colombian closes the gap quickly and wins by a margin of 125 thousandths of a second. David Cosma Cristofor (KR/Iame) surprises everyone in the final stages of the race and crosses the finish line in third, but a post-race penalty demotes him to the 8th position. Consequently, Monza takes the lowest step of the podium.

Di nuovo sul podio Salim Hanna Hernandez (LN/ Vortex), questa volta come vincitore di una gara. Il weekend si apre con la pole position di Oleksandr Bondarev (KR/Iame), mentre Hanna Hernandez coglie il quinto posto in qualifica. Le successive qualifying heat confermano di nuovo Bondarev in testa, con Elliot Kaczynski (Tony Kart/Vortex) secondo e Hanna Hernandez terzo, ma i risultati delle prefinali scombinano le carte in tavola e garantiscono la prima posizione a Kaczynski, con Bondarev e Hanna Hernandez subito dietro. La finale vede inizialmente un duello tra Kaczynski e Hanna Hernandez, a cui poi si aggiungono Kirill Dzitiev (Tony Kart/Vortex), Bondarev, Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM) e Tiziano Monza (Parolin/TM). Tuttavia, il primo posto diventa presto un affare a due tra Hanna Hernandez e Bondarev: all’ultimo giro, l’ucraino tenta il sorpasso all’ultima curva, ma il colombiano chiude bene lo spazio e vince con un vantaggio di 125 millesimi di secondo sul rivale. David Cosma Cristofor (KR/Iame) sorprende tutti nelle ultime fasi di gara e taglia il traguardo terzo, ma una penalità nel post-gara lo retrocede in ottava. Così, Monza conquista il gradino più basso del podio.

BACK IN SARNO

For the first time this season, WSK Promotion arrives at the Circuito Internazionale Napoli, on the occasion of the third round of the Super Master Series. Over 250 drivers dotted the paddock throughout the weekend, in the name of sportsmanship (on and off the track), heated battles (for a place on the podium) and lots of fun as well (of course).

Per la prima volta in questa stagione, WSK Promotion approda al Circuito Internazionale Napoli, in occasione del terzo round della Super Master Series. Oltre 250 piloti hanno colorato il paddock durante tutto il weekend all’insegna della sportività (dentro e fuori dalla pista), delle accese battaglie (per un posto sul podio) e del divertimento (ovviamente).

The thrilling finale of the MINI Gr.3 in Sarno rewards Gianmatteo Rousseau (KR/Iame). The Panamanian’s weekend starts uphill with a 17th place in qualifying practice, while Iskender Zulfikari (Parolin/Iame) takes the pole position. Standing out as the undisputed leader through the qualifying heats and prefinals, however, it is Dean Hoogendoorn (KR/Iame), with four victories out of four races. In the Sunday afternoon final, a heated tussle for first place breaks out between Hoogendoorn, Noah Baglin (KR/Iame), Bogdan Cosma Cristofor (KR/Iame), Vladimir Ivannikov (EKS/TM), Keelan Harvick (Parolin/Iame), Zulfikari and, in the final laps, Rousseau is there as well. Seven drivers pass under the checkered flag in just under a second. Baglin is in front of everyone, yet a 5-second penalty for an improperly positioned nose deprives him of victory. This delivers the winner’s trophy to Rousseau. Zulfikari returns back to the podium, after withdrawing from the race, in Franciacorta, with second place, while Hoogendoorn finishes in third.

Il finale da cardiopalma della MINI Gr.3 a Sarno premia Gianmatteo Rousseau (KR/Iame). Il weekend del panamense inizia in salita con un 17° posto in qualifica, mentre Iskender Zulfikari (Parolin/Iame) conquista la pole position. A emergere, però, come dominatore incontrastato nell’arco delle qualifying heat e delle prefinali è Dean Hoogendoorn (KR/ Iame), con quattro vittorie su quattro gare. Nella finale di domenica pomeriggio si scatena un’accesa bagarre per il primo posto che vede protagonisti Hoogendoorn, Noah Baglin (KR/Iame), Bogdan Cosma Cristofor (KR/Iame), Vladimir Ivannikov (EKS/ TM), Keelan Harvick (Parolin/Iame), Zulfikari e, negli ultimi giri, anche Rousseau. Sotto la bandiera a scacchi transitano sette piloti racchiusi in poco meno di un secondo: Baglin precede tutti, ma una penalità di 5 secondi per il musetto in posizione non corretta lo priva della vittoria. Questo consegna il trofeo del vincitore a Rousseau. Zulfikari ritorna sul podio, dopo il ritiro di Franciacorta, con il secondo posto; infine, Hoogendoorn chiude in terza posizione.

The MINI Gr.3 U10 category also experienced an uncertain final until the very last meter. But let’s go in order: Albert Tamm (Parolin/Iame) records the best overall time in Friday’s qualifying practice, with teammate Daniil Kutskov (Parolin/Iame) behind him in second position. The leader, however, changes at the very end of the qualifying heats: with one victory and two second places, Giacomo Giusto (Parolin/TM) rises to the top of the overall combined standings, just ahead of Kutskov who maintains his position. The two prefinals on Sunday morning determine a new change at the top of the standings, with Kutskov first and Giusto in second place. The final sees an intense battle for the victory between Kutskov, Giusto, Leonardo Gorski (Parolin/Iame), Oleksandr Legenkyi (KR/Iame) and Maximus Unt (Tony Kart/TM). On the last lap, Unt pushes his way through his opponents, takes the reins of the race and sprints past Kutskov, by just 37 thousandths of a second and Gorski, third at +0.096 from the Swedish driver.

Anche la categoria MINI Gr.3 U10 vive una finale incerta fino all’ultimo metro. Ma andiamo con ordine: Albert Tamm (Parolin/Iame) registra il miglior tempo assoluto nelle prove cronometrate del venerdì, con il compagno di squadra Daniil Kutskov (Parolin/Iame) alle sue spalle in seconda posizione. Il leader, però, cambia al termine delle qualifying heat: con una vittoria e due secondi posti, Giacomo Giusto (Parolin/TM) sale al comando della classifica combinata generale, proprio davanti a Kutskov che mantiene il proprio piazzamento. Le due prefinali di domenica mattina determinano un nuovo cambiamento ai piani alti della graduatoria, con Kutskov primo e Giusto al secondo posto. La finale vede un’intensa battaglia per la vittoria tra Kutskov, Giusto, Leonardo Gorski (Parolin/Iame), Oleksandr Legenkyi (KR/Iame) e Maximus Unt (Tony Kart/TM). All’ultimo giro, Unt si fa largo tra gli avversari, prende le redini della corsa e batte in volata Kutskov, secondo per appena 37 millesimi di secondo, e Gorski, terzo a +0.096 dallo svedese.
