Motorsport is always looking for new emotions and new stimuli, because the possibility of new adventures is what prevents us from getting bogged down in our routine and calls to us each time, as only a genuine challenge truly can. FIA is well aware of this, and it never tires to think of new solutions and new initiatives to enrich the world of motorsport. It is in this context that a new championship is born: the Formula Regional European Championship. A reality that positions itself as a further springboard for those young drivers who, coming from a background in the more preparatory categories, aim to turn their passion into a profession. ACI Sport immediately accepted the FIA’s invitation and put all its expertise into organizing the new championship. WSK Promotion, after the positive experience of the Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth, once again has the honor of being personally involved and is ready to put its experience and its enthusiasm to the service of this great project. It’s an ambitious goal, but the organizational machine is well-oiled. We start at Le Castellet, we finish in Monza. In between... lots of entertainment and never-ending passion and emotions.

Il motorsport ha sempre bisogno di nuove emozioni e nuovi stimoli, perché sono le nuove avventure quelle che impediscono di cadere nella routine e ci richiamano, ogni volta, alla sfida della qualità. Lo sa bene la FIA, che non si stanca mai di pensare nuove soluzioni e nuove iniziative per arricchire il mondo del motorsport. È in questo contesto che nasce un nuovo campionato: il Formula Regional European Championship. Una realtà che si pone come ulteriore trampolino di lancio per quei giovani che, provenienti dalle categorie più propedeutiche dell’automobilismo, aspirano al professionismo. ACI Sport ha subito colto l’invito della FIA e ha messo tutta la propria competenza nell’organizzazione del nuovo campionato. WSK Promotion, da parte sua, dopo la positiva esperienza dell’Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth, ha ancora una volta l’onore di essere coinvolta in prima persona ed è pronta a mettere al servizio di questo grande progetto la sua esperienza e il suo entusiasmo. L’obiettivo è ambizioso, ma la macchina organizzativa è rodata. Si comincia a Le Castellet, si finisce a Monza. Nel mezzo… tanto spettacolo e un’infinita dose di passione.

The new season’s eight dates include visits to a number of historic circuits in France, Italy, Hungary, Austria and Spain. It all starts at Le Castellet, while the grand finale is on 20 October in Monza, one of the temples of motorsports.

RD.01 12/14 April The opener is at Le Castellet, which has hosted 15 editions of the Formula 1 French Grand Prix. The circuit is 5,861 meters long and was inaugurated in 1970. It takes its name from the French industrialist - a famous producer of anisette liqueur - who invested his own money for the track’s construction.

L’esordio è al circuito di Le Castellet, che ha ospitato 15 edizioni del GP di Francia di F1. Il tracciato è lungo 5861 metri ed è stato inaugurato nel 1970. Prende il nome dell’industriale francese - famoso produttore di liquori all’anice - che investì il proprio denaro per la costruzione della pista.

RD.02 3/5 May This circuit, located just 30 kilometres from Rome, was created from the transformation of a hippodrome. It was inaugurated in 1951, and since 2006 has been named after Piero Taruffi, the driver-engineer who designed it. The track is 4,805 meters.

RD.03 5/7 July A circuit built in Mogyoród to host the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix beginning in 1986. It represented an important political conquest, allowing F1 to break into the block of Socialist countries for the first time. Originally, the track’s design was even more windy.

Ad appena 30 chilometri da Roma sorge questo tracciato che nasce dalla trasformazione di un ippodromo. È stato inaugurato nel 1951 e dal 2006 è intitolato al pilota automobilistico Piero Taruffi che ne fu l’ingegnere progettista. Il tracciato è lungo 4085 metri.

CIRCUIT

Circuito costruito a Mogyoród per ospitare il GP d’Ungheria di Formula 1 a partire dal 1986. Rappresentò una grande conquista politica, perché consentì alla F1 di entrare per la prima volta nel blocco dei paesi socialisti. Originariamente la conformazione del tracciato era ancor più tortuosa.

RD.04 12/14 July An historic Austrian racetrack located in Spielberg bei Knittelfeld, since 2004 it has sported the name of the famous brand that acquired it, bringing it back to an elite level and allowing it once more to organize the Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix. The circuit is 4,318 meters long and includes 10 curves.

Storico autodromo austriaco situato a Spielberg bei Knittelfeld, dal 2004 porta il nome del noto brand che lo ha rilevato, riportandolo in auge e riconsegnandogli la possibilità di organizzare il Gran Premio d’Austria di F1. Il tracciato è lungo 4318 metri e si snoda su 10 curve.

RD.05 30 August / 1 September The Enzo and Dino Ferrari Speedway was inaugurated in 1953. It hosted the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix in 1980 and all 26 editions of the Grand Prix of San Marino between 1981 and 2006. It’s 4,909 meters long and is one of the few circuits that runs anticlockwise.

RD.06 20/22 September The Catalonia circuit was inaugurated in 1991 and is the site of the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix and, since 1992, the MotoGP World Championship’s Catalonia Grand Prix. Thanks to the region’s mild climate, this track is one of the most utilised for winter tests.

L’autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari è stato inaugurato nel 1953. Ha ospitato il GP d’Italia di F1 nel 1980 e tutte le 26 edizioni del GP di San Marino dal 1981 al 2006. È lungo 4909 metri ed è uno dei pochi nel quale si corre in senso antiorario.

CIRCUIT

Il circuito di Catalogna venne inaugurato nel 1991 ed è la sede del GP di Spagna di Formula 1 e, dal 1992, del GP di Catalogna del motomondiale. Grazie alla mitezza del clima della zona di Barcellona è uno dei più utilizzati per i test invernali.

RD.07 4/6 October The Mugello International Speedway is located in Scarperia and San Piero, in the province of Florence. The circuit is 5,245 meters long and has 15 curves. Designed in the 1970s at the initiative of the Automobile Club of Florence, it has hosted a variety of historic motorsport events.

RD.08 18/20 October Inaugurated in 1922, it’s the third-oldest racetrack in the world and the historic site of the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix (held here 80 times out of a total of 88). At 5,793 meters long, it has also hosted a variety of nonmotorsport events, including Pink Floyd’s concert in 1989.

L’autodromo internazionale del Mugello si trova a Scarperia e San Piero, in provincia di Firenze. Il tracciato è lungo 5.245 metri e prevede 15 curve. Progettato negli Anni ’70 per iniziativa dell’Automobile Club di Firenze, ha ospitato diverse storiche manifestazioni.

CIRCUIT

Inaugurato nel 1922, è il terzo autodromo più antico al mondo ed è la sede storica del GP d’Italia di Formula 1 (disputato qui 80 volte sulle 88 totali). Lungo 5793 metri, oltre al motorsport ha ospitato molti eventi, fra tutti il concerto dei Pink Floyd del 1989.

EQUIPMENT The Formula Regional European Championship singleseater’s equipment is first-rate: the brake system is supplied by Brembo, the sector’s undisputed leader. The shock absorbers are made by Koni and the springs by Eibach. The seat belts, finally, are produced by Sabelt. La dotazione delle monoposto del Formula Regional European Championship è di prim’ordine: l’impianto frenante è firmato da Brembo, leader indiscusso del settore. THE CHASSIS The vehicle is a Tatuus F.3 T-318, a monocoque in carbon fibre produced according to FIA F.3 specifications, homologated in 2018. Previewed last year at Vallelunga during the Italian F4 Championship powered by Abarth 2018, it can depend on the reliability and expertise of Italian manufacturer Tatuus, founded in 1980 and for years a worldwide point of reference for competitive single-seaters in the categories leading up to F1. La vettura è una Tatuus F.3 T-318, monoscocca in fibra di carbonio realizzata secondo le specifiche FIA F.3, omologata nel 2018. Presentata in anteprima lo scorso anno, in occasione della tappa di Vallelunga dell’Italian F4 Championship powered by Abarth 2018, può contare sull’affidabilità e la competenza dell’azienda italiana Tatuus, fondata nel 1980 e da molti anni punto di riferimento mondiale per le monoposto da competizione delle categorie propedeutiche alla F1.

SAFETY The greatest care has been dedicated to the safety of the vehicle, conceived according to standards that reference the thinking developed in Formula 1, including the steel Halo system (the protective system for the cockpit capable of keeping the driver’s head safe in case of an accident). For homologation, the frame had to pass the FIA’s extremely stringent tests. Striking as well is the size of the cockpit, able to accommodate drivers up to 1.9 m tall. Grandissima attenzione è stata dedicata all’aspetto della sicurezza della vettura, concepita secondo standard che riprendono le logiche della Formula 1, incluso il sistema Halo in acciaio (ovvero il sistema di protezione dell’abitacolo in grado di preservare la testa del pilota in caso di incidente). Per essere omologato, il telaio ha superato i severissimi test della FIA. A colpire è anche l’ampiezza dell’abitacolo, che permette di accogliere piloti alti fino a 1,90 metri di altezza.

ENGINE The engine mounted on all vehicles participating in the championship is an Alfa Romeo 1750 cc TBi. The power supplied is 270 horsepower at 6000 rpm, and it can count on the reliability of Magneti Marelli electronics and the precision of the Sadev SL.R 82 transmission with a 6 LSD gearshift. Il propulsore montato da tutte le vetture partecipanti al campionato è un Alfa Romeo 1750 cc TBi. TYRES As far as the tyres are concerned we’ve gone with the experience of Pirelli, the supplier for Formula 1 as well. The Italian manufacturer has an historic bond with the world of motorsport and already collaborates with WSK Promotion and ACI Sport for the Italian F4 Championship powered by Abarth. These are the measurements of the tyres used in the Formula Regional European Championship: . Front 10” (254.0mm +/- 3mm) . Rear 12” (304.8mm +/- 3mm). THE RIGHT STEP FOR A DRIVER’S CAREER One of the main goals of the FIA has always been to create an itinerary to accompany young people on their journey to becoming serious drivers. The Formula Regional European Championship is the link that was still missing in this chain, the ideal conjunction between the first, more educational categories and those that pave way for a professional career. For everyone the foundation is represented by the kart, the perfect vehicle for laying the technical and sporting foundations for an entire career. Karting offers a prestigious stage, both national and international. The next step is Formula 4, with a single-seater that’s high performing but simple to handle. The races are almost all in Italy and take the drivers to some of the tracks that have made motorsport history. As mentioned, the journey now concludes with Formula Regional. A further step forward in terms of performance and race context (split between France, Italy, Hungary, Austria and Spain), but which maintains the keystones of the FIA philosophy fully shared with ACI Sport and WSK Promotion: contained costs and a race format that allows everyone to get out on the track as much as possible during the weekend. The route has been laid out. All that’s left to do is start your engine and see how far it takes you!

Da sempre, uno dei principali obiettivi della FIA è stato quello di creare un percorso per accompagnare i ragazzi nel loro cammino per diventare piloti. Il Formula Regional European Championship è il tassello che ancora mancava in questa filiera, ideale congiunzione tra le categorie più formative a quelle che si spalancano verso il professionismo. Alla base, per tutti, c’è il kart, mezzo ideale per porre le basi tecniche e agonistiche di un’intera carriera. Il karting offre un palcoscenico prestigioso, sia nazionale sia internazionale. Il passo successivo è la Formula 4, monoposto prestazionale ma semplice da gestire. Le gare sono quasi tutte in Italia e portano i piloti su alcune delle piste che hanno fatto la storia dell’automobilismo. Come detto, il percorso si completa, ora, con la Formula Regional. Un ulteriore passo in avanti in termini di prestazioni e contesto delle gare (divise tra Francia, Italia, Ungheria, Austria e Spagna), ma che mantiene saldi i punti cardine della filosofia FIA, pienamente condivisa da ACI Sport e WSK Promotion: costi contenuti e format di gara che permetta a tutti di girare in pista il più possibile durante i weekend. La strada è tracciata. Non resta che percorrerla fino in fondo!

It takes more than just competitiveness and speed on the track for a race weekend to be truly complete and well-organized: the right top-quality structures and services are necessary as well. WSK Promotion knows this, having long since raised its standards in every competition it promotes. And the Formula Regional European Championship is certainly no exception. As is the case in various other “certified by FIA” realities (such as the F3 Asian Championship, which uses the same F3 T-318 vehicle), the Formula Regional European Championship’s singleseaters are manufactured by Tatuus. A name that certainly needs no introduction, Pirelli will be the sole supplier of the tyres used in the Formula Regional European Championship for the next three years. The company created in Italy in 1872 by engineer Giovanni Battista Pirelli is today a multinational corporation that operates throughout the world, and is the exclusive tyre supplier for the Formula 1 championship. 2019 is an important year for the historic Italian brand, marking its official return to the motorsport world by lending its name to Formula 1 team (its last participation dates back to 1985), in partnership with Sauber. But the snake-logoed manufacturer’s commitment extends to the Formula Regional European Championship as well, supplying the 1750 cc TBi engines with 270 horsepower at 6000 rpm.

The Italian company founded in 1977 by Edo Riboldi and Roberto Federici is always on the cutting edge in the design, production and development of competitive engines. TEAMS

TEAMS AT THE START US RACING PREMA POWERTEAM Founded in 1983, it is the third-largest Italian team (after Ferrari and Toro Rosso in F1) in terms of size and the competitions it participates in. Present in the main preparatory categories for Formula 1, from the Italian F.4 Championship powered by Abarth to Formula 2, its ranks have included numerous drivers who have gone on to perform at the top levels in motorsport. A few examples: Lance Stroll, Charles Leclerc, Antonio Giovinazzi and Robert Kubica. KIC MOTORSPORT A Finnish team founded by Petri Lappalainen, still the owner to this day. Petri has extensive experience in the world of motorsport, beginning in the 1980s when he worked as a kart mechanic and engine preparer. REGULATIONS

ESSENTIAL RULES The FIA European Regional Championship team title will be awarded to the competitor which has scored the highest number of points, counting results from his two highest scoring cars. To participate to the Final Classification of the Championship, every driver must compete in 5 events at least. The last event must be compulsorily included in the 5 events.

The FIA European Regional Championship driver’s title will be awarded to the driver who has scored the highest number of points, taking into consideration all the results obtained during the Events which have actually taken place.

The FIA European Regional Championship best Rookie title will be awarded to the driver who has scored the highest number of points, taking into consideration all the results obtained during the Events which have actually taken place. Driver will not be eligible for this title if, the year before the FIA European Regional Championship Event he takes part in, he had competed in more than three race Events in the FIA Formula Regional either with cars with the same performance level or higher than that of a Formula Regional car. Drivers will be considered eligible for this title at the absolute discretion of the Promoter.

TYRES Only the dry-weather tyres which have been provided at the Event by the appointed supplier may be used throughout the Event. A set is considered to be compromised of two front and two rear tyres. Each driver may use per event no more than: • One set of used and one set of new dry-weather and wet-weather tyres for the two free practice sessions. In this context a tyre will be considered used if it was allocated to the same car at a previous Event, whether or not it was used on the track. At the first Event of the Championship or at the first Event for an additional car, each car will be allocated two sets of new dry-weather tyres to use in the two free practice sessions. • Two sets of new dry-weather and wet-weather tyres for the qualifying practice sessions and the races.

FUEL Only fuel provided at the Event by the following appointed supplier may be used throughout the Event: PANTA DISTRIBUZIONE SPA - S.S.235 KM47+980 - 26010 Bagnolo Cremasco (CR) Italy - Tel.0039 0373 235141 - fuelorder@panta.it. The fuel must have been ordered by the Monday before the event. All competitors will be provided with the fuel specification in advance of each Event.
