Life inspires lyrics By Megan Connolly

Angelique Te Rauna is one step closer to living her dream as a singer. The 20-year-old is a finalist in the prestigious Maioha Award at this year’s APRA Silver Scrolls awards with her song Ka Ao. It has been written with local musician Tyna Keelan and her uncle Matauranga Te Rauna. The ballad, sung in Te Reo, is about self-confidence and following your dreams. It was originally written in English by Angelique and translated into Te Reo by Matauranga. “It’s cool just being nominated, especially alongside them both,” she says. Continued on page 2.
