Marae based learning Continued from page 1 It is funded through a crossagency initiative aimed at rangatahi (the younger generation) who are most at risk of long-term unemployment and who may need extra individualised and ongoing support to connect to training and employment.

Raranga, weaving, plays an important part in the course and is used as a form of therapy, up skilling and a connection to the Maori culture in the setting of being at the Wainuiomata Marae.

Lead facilitator Aroha Puketapu says to weave is a Maori women’s birthright.

“A lot of people in Wainuiomata have missed out on that because they have come to Wellington and have lived away from their own marae and the only way to learn to weave is to pay for it and in the current climate it becomes a low priority,” Aroha says.

The course is a level four NZQA qualification and it is run around marae based learning.

A range of tutors take the course with young and old showing the way in what is called Tuakana Teina a Maori concept referring to the relationship between an older sibling (Tuakana)

and a younger sibling.

“We use that process to make sure that everyone is cared for and I look at it as we are the education aunties,” Aroha says.

“The marae is the epicentre of all things Maori and we will find a lot of our answers to our lessons today.”

There are five on the team taking the ten week course which are held between the school holidays with four rotations of ten weeks and the course is funded over two years that will see 80 wahine take part.

“They normally fund rural organisations and we are the first

of two to be funded in the urban setting and the entire team from MBI came and had a look at what we are doing and they have been great to work with,” she says.

According the MBI rangatahi graduating from these programmes will emerge with more interpersonal skills, strengthened resilience, improved health and well-being practices and a better sense of their cultural identity. They will also gain practical work readiness skills ranging from driver licensing and forklift operation to first aid qualifications and food cultivation experience.

Wainuiomata, with a population of 16,901 people is seeing more than its share of house price rises.

Recent survey results from Realestateinvestar show 25.88% of its occupants live in rental accommodation and the median listing price for houses in Wainuiomata is around $592,000.

This shows a change of 13.85% over the past year and changed 9.47% over 2 years.

According to the figures the median rent in Wainuiomata for houses is $525 per week and the median rental yield is 4.61% and the average time to sell a house/townhouse is 57 days.

The median listing price for units is $535,000 and this has changed 30.49% over the past year. The average unit takes 52 days

to sell and the median rent for a unit in Lower Hutt is $440 per week, producing a rental yield of 4.28%.

Compared to Stokes Valley with 26.99% of its occupants living in rental accommodation, the median listing price for houses is $615,000, which has changed 19.65% over the past year and changed 7.08% over 2 years.

The median rent in Stokes Valley for houses is $565 per week and the median rental yield is 4.78% and the average time to sell a house/townhouse is 41 days.The median listing price for units is $535,000 and this has changed 30.49% over the past year.

The average unit takes 52 days to sell and the median rent for a unit in Lower Hutt is $440 per week, producing a rental yield of 4.28%.

inbrief news World Earth Day World Earth Day is on Thursday, 22nd April 2021. Created back in 1970, it’s a day dedicated to educate and raise awareness of the human impact on our climate. It is a day where individuals, non-profit groups, activists, governments and organisations come together to celebrate and preserve our planet and its resources.

The NZ Vegetarian Society understands the importance food choices can have on the environment, which is why this Thursday, they are encouraging New Zealanders to ditch the meat, even if only for the day.

Charlotte Besant, spokesperson for NZVS, says: “Opting to cut out meat is one of the most effective actions you can take to reduce your carbon footprint and help fight climate change. On Thursday, we urge you to make a climate conscious choice and take the first step in your plant-based journey.”

Access campaign launched National List MP based in Hutt South Chris Bishop has launched a campaign for the building of a second access road into Wainuiomata.

The campaign calls on the Hutt Council to prioritise a second access through its Long Term Plan consultation (open now) and to talk to the government about backing it with infrastructure funding from its $3.8 billion fund for accelerating housing supply.

A second access road, which would be from the north of Wainuiomata into Naenae has been talked about for years and is needed for two major reasons, Mr Bishop says.

“First, Wainuiomata has just one road in and out of the area.

One minor incident on the hill and the area is cut off, sometimes for hours. This happened just a few weeks ago, causing chaos for commuters. This isn’t good enough for a growing community. A second access road would increase resilience.

“Second, a second access road would unlock land that could be used for thousands of houses.

The area of north Wainuiomata has long been talked as an area ripe for development and Lower Hutt’s housing shortage demands action.

“The Upper Fitzherbert Rd area in north Wainuiomata

is currently rural land, and it has been identified through the Wellington “Planning for Growth” framework as one of the biggest areas that could be developed in the Wellington area. I’ve seen an estimate that around 2,500 to 3,000 houses could potentially be built on the land – but a second access road is needed to unlock it.

“We have a housing crisis in the Hutt and action is overdue and urgent. A second access road was costed in 2013 at around $30 million. It will obviously cost more now but work should begin immediately on the planning and the Council should look to prioritise the

road through its Long Term Plan; seeking funding from the government’s $3.8 billion infrastructure fund for unlocking land for housing.

“People can show their support for a Wainuiomata second access by signing my petition and I will be making a submission to the Council as well.”

Hutt South Labour MP Ginny Andersen says the idea is worth investigating but ratepayers and taxpayers need to know the cost.

“This is a local road so it’s a shame the petition has missed the opportunity to influence the Hutt’s Long Term Plan,” Ginny says.

Quarterly inflation figures due out on Wednesday may shed some light on whether interest rates may have to rise sooner than expected.

Statistics NZ reports on movements in the consumer price index (CPI) every three months, but there is heightened interest in this week’s release because of indications inflation may be slowly stirring in New Zealand and overseas.

The Reserve Bank has forecast a 1 per cent quarter-on-quarter rise in the CPI that would take annual inflation to 1.7 per cent, following a 0.5 per cent rise in the December quarter.

ANZ and Westpac are forecasting a 0.7 per cent quarterly increase while ASB, BNZ and Kiwibank all predict a jump of 0.8 per cent.

Poppy day this week Poppies are the flowers used as a symbol around the world to remember those who died in military service. They are often presented on graves in the form of wreaths since its circular shape represents eternity, continuity and the circle of life. However, the poppies are also worn on veterans’ lapels and often placed individually at a grave site to represent honoring and respecting those who sacrificed their lives in military conflict.

The red or Flanders poppy has been linked with battlefield deaths since the Great War (1914–18). The plant was one of the first to grow and bloom on battlefields in the Belgian region of Flanders.

The connection was made, most famously, by LieutenantColonel John McCrae in his poem, ‘In Flanders fields’.

“In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses row on row.”

The idea of selling artificial poppies to raise funds for veterans’ organisations was conceived by a French woman, Madame E. Guerin.

Her plan was to have widows and orphans in northern France manufacture artificial poppies that could be sold to benefit veterans and destitute children.

After Colonel Alfred S. Moffatt took the idea to the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association in September 1921, an order for 350,000 small and 16,000 large silk poppies was placed with Madame Guerin’s French Children’s League.

Armistice Day (11 November). The shipment arrived too late for Poppy Day to be properly promoted prior to Armistice Day, so the NZRSA decided to hold it on the day before

Anzac Day 1922.

The first Poppy Day was a brilliant success. The annual Poppy Day Appeal – now usually held on the Friday before

Anzac Day – has become the NZRSA’s primary means of raising funds for the welfare of returned service personnel and their dependants.

Hunters in New Zealand are extremely excited about this year’s roar. The 2020 roar was ruined by the level 4 lockdown, however that means there are a lot of extremely promising stags that have had another year to mature. The result will be a lot of high-quality animals around and that could mean some outstanding hunting opportunities.

The Game Animal Council encourages hunters to get out there and enjoy this year’s roar and the incredible hunting it will provide. However, with a lot of hunters and non-hunters out in the bush at this time of year the roar period does present a heightened level of risk. Taking the necessary precautions is absolutely critical to having a safe and successful trip. Here are some basic tips to make sure you are ‘roar ready’:

Prepare 1. Plan where you are going to hunt and how long you will be out for.

2. Make sure you have a hard copy 1:50,000 topographical map (and compass) to supplement any mapping apps you may use on your phone.

3. Check the long range weather forecast and plan your trip accordingly. DOC have recently formed a partnership with NIWA and have developed a new weather forecasting tool, that may be of use to many hunters.

4. Leave your intentions, including where you are going and when you plan to get out, with a reliable contact.

5. Give your gear (including your first aid kit) a thorough check and repair/replace anything that needs it.

AUTO TYRES Anzac Day takes place each year on April 25 and commemorates all New Zealanders killed in war, while also honouring returned servicemen and women. April 25 marks the anniversary of the landing of New Zealand and Australian soldiers, on the Gallipoli Peninsula in 1915 and WW1 centenary commemorations began last year. The aim was to capture the Dardanelles, the gateway to the Bosphorus and the Black Sea,

however, at the end of the campaign, Gallipoli was still held by its Turkish defenders. Among those who lost their lives in the Gallipoli campaign were 2779 New Zealanders, almost one in four of those who served on Gallipoli. As always, ceremonies are held at war memorials up and down New Zealand and in places overseas where New Zealanders gather to pay tribute.

This quote made by Ataturk, a great Turkish statesman in 1934, is inscribed on the memorial at Anzac Cove, Gallipoli. It is also inscribed on the Ataturk memorial at Tarakena Bay, which is said to be similar to the coast around Gallipoli: “Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives; You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country.

inbrief news COVID exercise Past research on vaccinations, such as influenza and HPV, has shown that exercise – even training shortly before injection – can both boost their effectiveness and reduce the risk of side effects.

A study published last year found that elite athletes had significantly more anti-influenza immune cells after a flu shot compared to other healthy adults. This echoed a 2019 study finding that older adults who trained regularly had a much higher antibody response to healthy adults who didn’t exercise. Consistent exercise after a vaccine is also thought to prolong enhanced protection.

ANZ backs local legends in Wainuiomata netball As the whistle blows for the start of the 2021 season of the ANZ Premiership, ANZ is looking to help netball teams in Wainuiomata get back on the court this season and is putting out a nationwide call to recognise and reward netball’s Local Legends.

After one of the toughest seasons ever for netball clubs and school teams last year, ANZ wants to find and celebrate the netball community’s Local Legends - the greatest supporters whose time and energy keep

local netball alive through the good times and the tough.

Netball’s Local Legends could be anyone from diehard supporters who turn up week in, week out; or parents that taxi their kids to games every weekend; or coaches who are constantly working behind the scenes.

ANZ wants to get behind their commitment to the game and will fund a project that will make their netball contribution easier up to the value of $15,000 plus a $1000 cash prize for the Legend themselves, as a thank

you for everything they do in the community.

For the 10th year running, ANZ is also offering netball grants to schools and netball clubs throughout Wainuiomata to help them take their game to the next level. The ANZ Netball Grants programme has helped the country’s grassroots netballers with everything from new training gear and uniforms, to spruced up netball facilities. Over the past decade, the Grants have totalled more than $1.2 million.

What’s Cooking... in Creamy coconut beef and pumpkin curry Ingredients:

Method:

s 1 tablespoon peanut oil s 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh ginger s 80g (1/3 cup) rogan josh curry paste s 1.5kg beef chuck steak, cut into 4cm pieces s 400g can chopped tomatoes s 250ml (1 cup) Massel vegetable liquid stock s 1 sprig fresh curry leaves, plus extra, to serve s 600g peeled, deseeded pumpkin, cut into 3cm pieces s 1 tablespoon Coles Cornflour s 270ml can coconut cream

1. Heat the oil in a large saucepan over high heat. Add

the ginger and cook, stirring, for 1 minute or until softened. Add the curry paste and cook, stirring, for 1 minute or until aromatic. Add the beef and cook, stirring for 5 minutes or until well coated.

2. Transfer the beef mixture to the bowl of a slow cooker. Add the tomato and stock. Stir to combine.

Add the curry leaf. Cover and cook on High for 5 hours or until the beef is tender. Add the pumpkin.

Cover and cook for a further hour or until pumpkin and beef is tender.

3. Place the cornflour and 80ml (1/3 cup) coconut cream in a small bowl and stir to combine. Add to the slow cooker and cook, with the lid removed, for 10 minutes or until thickened.

4. Divide the curry among serving plates. Drizzle with some of the remaining coconut cream (see note).

Serve with rice and topped with extra curry leaves.

2021 Season starts for Ulalei By: Toli Sagaga As the Flag and Touch seasons for Ulalei drew to a close, Ulalei Wainuiomata Netball started their pre-season training for 2021.

Ulalei have registered four teams for the 2021 Netball Hutt Valley competition at Walter Nash Centre, Taita: Ulalei Pua – Premier 1 (Sports Team of the Year at the 2020 Hutt Valley Sports Awards) Ulalei Aute – Premier 1 Ulalei Fuesina – Senior Ulalei Moso’oi - Senior Teams Fuesina and Moso’oi commenced their grading matches on Saturday 17 April 2021, each team playing three games.

Team Fuesina is a whole new team with six new players joining the club. “It is fantastic to have all these new comers to Ulalei and I am looking forward to working with them,” says Fuesina coach Karina. “The focus of these grading games is for the team to learn to play together and try out different combinations.”

There will be no games next Saturday due to ANZAC weekend but some players will be taking part in the Atiawa Toa Netball Tournament on Saturday 24 April 2021 at the Walter Nash Centre.

The senior teams have one more round of grading games on Saturday 1 May 2021 before all teams begin the season proper on Saturday 8 May 2021.

Girls power on the field By: Gerald Rillstone Wainuiomata Intermediate girls rugby team showed the boys how it was done during the Wellington Intermediate Schools 7s tournament coming out on top as champions.

Sixteen schools from throughout the region including the Wairarapa took part

in the competition.

Coach Isaac Hayes says both teams worked hard in the build up to the event training for the last five weeks twice a week.

With a few close battles the girls came out on top against tough oppostion becoming 2021 Wellington Intermediate Girls Sevens Champions.

The factors that affect indoor plants are, light, temperature and moisture levels.

These three factors are interlinked and if they are not all correct in relationship to each other, then plants will suffer and possibly die..

Lets consider each of these starting with light; Indoors light is what I call sidewise light, it is not overhead light but its natural light that comes sidewise though windows or glass doors.

All plants need a certain amount of light and they will always grow towards the light source.

The best light in a home is within a metre of a unshaded window facing in a northerly direction.

Once we move the same plant a couple of metres from the window, but still in line with the window, the light level the plant receives drops a fair amount and the plant stretches towards the window making it lopsided.

A low light plant will be happy in that spot with all its leaves facing the window once it adjusts to that light level.

Indoor plants rely on a lot of reflected light and the lighter the colours in a room the better the plant will be for its light requirements.

When we look at the situation in midwinter our day light hours are down to 8 hours, about half the hours as we have in mid summer. So naturally from this, plants are getting far less natural light in winter.

This is why some plants do well in the summer months but fail in the winter with foliage browning or yellowing off, leaf drop and many tend to hibernate also.

In winter the temperatures being lower (without artificial heat) is the factor that sends plants into a more dormant state.

We have situations then, with people that are not home during the day and the room is cool to cold.

On returning home to a cold room artificial heat is turned on raising the temperature to a nice level.

On retiring for the night the heating is often switched off and temperatures quickly drop to zero or a few degrees.

In the morning the room maybe warmed again for a short time and then allowed to return to the normal indoor temperature of the day.

This up and down temperatures does have an effect on the well being of the plants.

Next is moisture level and its an aspect that we have the control over completely.

Plants need moisture in the air to keep nice clean foliage. When the air becomes too dry the plant keeps pushing moisture to the foliage to replace the moisture lost into the drying air.

If we water the plants well, we have the problem that when the temperature drops they have cold wet roots which are prone to rotting. Lack of good light, wide temperature swings and too much water in the mix is the death of many plants in winter.

You can control to a degree two of these factors, ensure that plants that require good light are very close to (in front of) a good light window without net curtains.

I have had people tell me that their plant is getting good light because it is right near the window.

On further questioning it turns out the plant is either beside the window or below the window which is actually worse than being over the other side of the room.

It must be direct light on the foliage, through the window.

Low light plants such as philodendrons will be happier in less light spots, but a maidenhair fern would die down. Keeping a steady temperature in winter can be expensive and a cost when you are not at home to have benefit of the heat.

Heating does dry the air and to

overcome this, and take advantage of the fact, place a clothes horse in the lounge to dry that days washing.

The drying of the clothes puts ample moisture into the air and helps to keep the plants happy.

Bowls of water near plants is another way to ensure moisture in the air near the plantâ ™s foliage.

The biggest control in the three aspects that you have, is the moisture level of the potting mix. In winter it should never be wet, just evenly moist to nearly dry.

If you have wide variations of temperature in a room keep the mix fairly dry with only little amounts of water applied when the plant is showing signs of lack of water.

There is a simple test to determine the amount of moisture in the potting mix; that is simply lift the pot up. If it feels very light it is fairly dry. ( may need a small drink like quarter to half a cup dependent on size of pot) If heavy it is soaking wet. (dangerous) Do the lift test regularly and you will soon learn how to use this invaluable tool.

In rooms that heat comes on when you come home would be the time for a little drink which might be every few days to once a week or less.

The odd plant may need say 50 mils of water every night to prevent water loss drooping. Another plant in the same room might only require a weekly drink of 250 mls.

It is better to water from the top not into the saucer as bottom watering builds up salts on top of the potting mix.

Water in the saucer a hour or two after watering is dangerous in winter and should be emptied to prevent wet mix and root rots.

Watts takes title It was celebration time for Hawke’s Bay’s Tommy Watts at the weekend, with back-to-back wins in the South Island earning him his first national motorcycling cross-country title.

The 19-year-old Napier-based former Wairoa man had a share of the lead in the Yamaha-sponsored competition after the first two four rounds for the series, with just two days of high-speed motorcycle racing in the South Island, near Balclutha on Saturday and then near Mosgiel on Sunday, to wrap it all up.

The championship went down to the wire with Watts’ main rival, Palmerston North’s 2015 New Zealand Cross-country Champion Paul Whibley,

who was level on points with Watts after the two earlier North Island rounds (near Marton and Dannevirke respectively), featuring as a constant threat.

But, with only three rounds to be counted and riders to discard their one worst score, it meant nothing was certain until the end of racing on Sunday.

When Watts won the day at Balclutha, finishing just seven seconds ahead of Whibley in the three-hour senior race, and then repeated the dose at Mosgiel the following day, this time beating Whibley to the chequered flag by 44 seconds, the mission was complete and Watts could enjoy celebrating his first national title win.

Manawatu’s Whibley, a two-time former cross country champion in the United States, had to settle for overall runner-up, while Raglan’s Brandon Given, Glen Murray’s Sam “Charlie” Brown and Whanganui’s Seth Reardon rounded out the top five seniors for 2021.

Runner-up junior rider for the series was Eketahuna’s Luke Brown, with Cambridge’s Bailey Morgan, Rotorua’s Daniel Bates and Katikati’s Ryan Morrissey rounding out the top five.

Masterton’s Max Williams was best of the 85cc bike riders this season, impressive in finishing eighth overall in the junior grade.

Pitying a flawed Tiger Pity was the overriding emotion I felt having watched the Tiger Woods documentary over the weekend.

I’d delayed watching the muchhyped three hour documentary called ‘Tiger’ so I could watch it in one sitting.

Ultimately I was left feeling sorry for Woods because his lifestyle was not one I would wish on an enemy.

Yes, a lot of his missteps have been caused by his own hand but the robotic nature of his childhood and the striving for golf domination imposed on him by

his father, meant Tiger had anything but an ordinary childhood.

Tiger’s ability to eliminate emotion from both his professional and personal life left me stunned.

That ability undoubtedly helped him in pressure-packed moments during major golf tournaments but it also saw him burn and discard many friendships and relationships in his personal life.

Tiger was described as his Father’s ‘golfing Frankenstein’ and it’s an apt way of describing him.

Kiwi caddie Steve Williams has apparently not spoken to Tiger since he was let go from his role.

Williams said he thought he was being fired as Tiger’s caddie but did not realise he was being fired as his friend as well.

Tiger’s ability to eliminate emotion in big moments during golf tournaments made him one of the best to ever play the game but away from the greens, it made him a clearly flawed human.

It seems his intensive golf upbringing played its part in that.

What kind of childhood, if any, did Tiger have?

It certainly was not one free of pressure.

The documentary showed the

tumultuous relationship with his Dad, Earl, and the impact Earl’s supposed womanising had on the young Tiger and it seems it played a part in his own infidelity issues which hit the media around 2010.

Like any good American story, the public loved the rise of the golfing phenom, then loved breaking him down only to see him get his redemption story with his 15th major at Augusta in 2019.

Nothing about Tiger’s life has been normal, almost every second of it has been played out in the spotlight.

I do wonder if Earl had his time

again, whether he would have put his son on this path.

Somehow I don’t think he would have changed much.

Tiger is a global icon and despite all the missteps, that was Earl’s goal and it has been achieved.

My biggest takeaway was Tiger did not choose this life.

Like an overzealous parent on the sideline of their child’s under-8 rugby game on a Saturday morning, Tiger has not lived out his own dreams but lived out those of his parents, and that is quite sad when you think about it.

Women’s Rugby returns to Wainuiomata

By Scott McLeod Saturday the 17th of April signalled a significant date for the future of women’s rugby in Wainuiomata. It was the date when Wainuiomata successfully relaunched a women’s team in the Wellington Rugby competition. Coach Sisi Le’afa-Paki said “2017 was the last time Wainuiomata fielded a side solely from Wainuiomata based players. In 2019 we combined with Avalon so we had the numbers to field a full side.” Le’afa-Paki added “Today is monumental in the fact that Wainuiomata can field our own side again.

It’s great for the growth in the women’s game and the future looks rosy for our daughters, nieces and cousins who want to represent our proud community in the years to come.”

Wainuiomata have started in the division 2 competition and faced friendly foes Avalon at Williams Jones Park. The game was a fiercely contested season opener with much of the battle played in the forwards.

Both teams took a while to get

into the game but the effort was there and after both team’s nerves settled the game started to flow.

Wainuiomata took a small lead into the halftime break but knew the more experienced Avalon side would come out strong in the second half and this prevailed as they slightly won the breakdown contest and had more territory. Avalon led 24 -17 with a minute to spare but a neat Wainuiomata backline move made the score 24-22 with a side line conversion to draw the game but unfortunately this missed. The inexperienced Wainuiomata side competed well at both scrum and lineout time and once the side gets used to their combinations especially at the breakdown the team will no doubt have a successful year. Le’afa-Paki was proud of the performance “We had 11 debutants today, so this is a success on its own and who won on the scoreboard doesn’t really matter. It is exciting to see what the rest of the season holds and we as a squad look forward to improving in all areas of our game.” Standout performances came from flanker Ruby Clark,

hardworking hooker Myra Tuifasio and centre Abby Clark who impressed by slicing the Avalon defence open on numerous occasions and scored a solo try in the second half.

Today’s game also marked a tremendous milestone of 100+ games for Wainuiomata veteran Jean Oti. Oti has always been an outstanding figure in Women’s local sport and has notched up the same achievement with the Women’s League side. She was convinced to play one last season by friend and coach Le’afa-Paki and Oti led from the front showing her experience with some nice touches on attack and strong defence in the midfield. Oti was a valuable member of the Wainuiomata side that won the women’s premier title in 2012 and 2016 and has represented her community for the last two decades. Oti said “I love representing Wainuiomata, it’s home, I’ve played for Avalon and Johnsonville before but it doesn’t have the same feeling when you are representing your home, family and friends who grew up wearing the same colours.” Her career

On the search for points

By Ryan Imray It was another busy day for Wainuiomata Football Club as 7 of our 11 teams were playing away from home. Unlike last week where 8 of our teams walked away with points, only 5 teams managed to walk away with points from their respective games.

Our Men’s 1st team travelled to unbeaten Miramar Rangers and unfortunately the search for their first points of the season continues as Miramar comfortably won 6-0.

The Men’s reserves team continued their 100% start to the season as 2 goals was enough to see them walk away 2-1 winners against Island Bay. Halfbaked’s first half goal was enough to see them beat Victoria University to claim their first win of the season, while the Fiddick’s and Roundballs both failed to follow on

from their opening round victories and succumbed to their first loss of the season.

Across the Masters grades, the Undertakers and Pacifica both suffered narrow losses while the Pacifica Originals walked away 5-2 winners. The standout result from Saturday came from Newlands Park where are Masters 6 team, The OC’s, won comfortably 4-0.

The weekend was rounded off on Sunday where the Under 17’s team followed up their 6 goal victory last week to easily dispatch Western Suburbs 7-3 thanks to an emphatic 5 goals from Jon Smoothy. Our Women’s team had a tough day at the office at Alex Moore Park where they sadly also had their first loss of the season as they went down 4-1 to North Wellington.
