Johnsonville-based childrens entertainer Chris Lam Sam won the Best Children’s Music video at the New Zealand Children’s Music Awards in Auckland. Chris won for his video for Song

About Nothing, produced by Mukpuddy Animation. It is the second time Chris had won the award after he was part of the band The Funky Monkeys in 2008. “I wasn’t expecting to win because of the quality of competition but I was surprised and delighted.”

“This really feels like a Johnsonville award for me because I grew up here, I went to Johnsonville West, I went to Raroa, I went to Onslow and at all three schools I had teachers who encouraged me to pursue music so to bring it back here just feels right.” Continued on page 2.
