Basketball Expansion Area Home of men’s and women’s basketball staff and film room. Contains assistant and head coach’s offices, lobby, and shared theatre style film room for both men’s and women’s basketball. Inventory: naming rights
Marquee (M-10 / I-94) According to the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT), 134,000 vehicles / 240,000 individuals view the signage each day. Additionally, local and college traffic will also view the display. Digital display messaging can be altered each month to satisfy specific advertising campaigns.
Matthaei Center Home of men’s and women’s basketball and volleyball. Women’s and men’s basketball play back-to-back games giving the ability to reach two audiences in a given night. Capacity: 1,400 Inventory: fixed and digital signage on the main gym scoreboard, in-game activities, naming opportunities on seating, team benches and locker rooms. Mort Harris Recreation & Fitness Center Student recreation center that offers state of the art training equipment, free weights, spinning group fitness, massage studio, and men’s and women’s locker rooms. Over 300,000 people pass through each year. Facility usage has increased by 40,000 people each year in the last three years. 50+ high ropes/team building/climbing wall rentals each year. Over 70% are outside groups not affiliated with WSU. Hosts the annual Athletics Health Fair, offering opportunities for on-site activation and access to students and faculty. ACADEMIC RECOGNITION LUNCHEON
An annual event held the week prior to winter term final exams to celebrate the scholastic success of our studentathletes. The celebration honors student-athletes with a 3.5 or better term GPA and includes invites to his/her “favorite professor.” The University’s 13 Deans, members of the Board of Governors, the President, and his cabinet attend to recognize the respective top student-athlete in their college. ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME The Athletic Hall of Fame occurs in February each year where standout student-athletes, coaches, and administrators are selected to be commemorated within Wayne State Athletics Hall of Fame. There are 231 individuals who have been inducted for success throughout their career. A lunch is held in combination with the induction ceremony. Each inductee is also recognized at the basketball game that same day. The event is held at the historical St. Andrews on campus.
W WEEK
A week long celebration of women’s athletics including events such as the W Day Brunch, WSU Athletics Health Fair, and Basic Needs Drive. The celebration of women’s athletics has particular significance as the first woman ever to compete in an NCAA Championship was a WSU female student-athlete in 1973. The week became an opportunity to underscore the past sacrifices and commitments of all female athletes to create the environment for today’s students.
BASIC NEEDS DRIVE
The Wayne State University Athletics Department “W” Week Community Service Initiative, in partnership with Wayne Cares and Covenant House Michigan, hosts a “Basic Needs Drive” to collect toiletry items for area homeless youth and adults. The campus-wide drive begins in early April and concludes the Friday ending W Week. WSU student-athletes and volunteers sort, assemble and distribute personal care kits for those in need in Detroit.

Multiple sports host golf outings throughout the year to bring back supporters and alumni for a fun day of events. Outings typically include raffle items, silent auctions, a reception, and offer the opportunity for guests to connect with the Warrior programs.
FIRST-YEAR LETTER WINNER RECEPTIONS
The Wayne State University Department of Athletics hosts three receptions a year for First-Year Letterwinners. This event marks the earning of our student-athletes’ first Letterwinner Jackets. The evening has an address from the Athletic Director and student-athlete alumni explaining the importance of the accomplishment, and what that means for the honorees moving forward in their educational and sport specific careers.
TASTE OF WAYNE ATHLETICS
The Taste of Wayne Athletics is an opportunity for alumni, local community members and University members to gather on the athletic campus for a taste of Wayne State University Athletics and support the student-athlete championship experience. Coaches, administration, studentathletes, and university officials welcome supporters to campus for an evening of new friends, award-winning food from local vendors, a reverse raffle, silent and live auction, and extravagant prizes.
