Geoffrey Kipchumba became the first Buff to earn All-American honors during the 2015 championships while Brenda Sindet and Mireia Guarner both earned All-American honors for the Lady Buffs finishing 23rd and 34th in 2012.

INDIVIDUAL LSC CHAMPIONS All-American Brenda Sindet became the first WT runner to win a LSC Individual title in 2012 on her way to finishing 23rd at the NCAA Championships that year. Emma Love won the title for the Lady Buffs in 2014, while Dylan Doss won the Buffs first title in 201. All-American Geoffrey Kipchumba lead from start to finish in 2015.

Lady Buff Elizabeth Beltran was the first to earn the honor back in 2011 where she finished 7th. The Buffs have won the award at three straight years as Blake Whalen finished 2nd at the 2015 championships.

LSC CHAMPIONSHPS
The Buffs have won the past three LSC titles while the Lady Buffs won back-to-back titles in 2012 and 2013. WT is one of three LSC schools to win both the men’s and women’s titles in the same year.

WT swept the men’s and women’s awards in 2014 as Brittany Mitchell and Geoffrey Kipchumba finsihed third and fourth respectively. Aries Bazaldua was the first WT athlete to earn the award back in 2009.

All 19 of those All-Region performances have come since 1998. WT had its best performance in 2014 when a total of six athletes finished in the top 25 at the regional championships. Stephanie Williams was the first WT athlete to earn honors in 2005.

Since joining the Lone Star Conference in 1993, WT has produced 50 All-Conference honorees including a league-high 36 since 2012. Kimberly McEntire (Dudley) was the first runner in school history to earn All-Conferences after finishing 6th in 1993.

DARREN FLOWERS HEAD COACH / 6TH SEASON
Flowers begins his sixth season as the head coach of the West Texas A&M men’s cross country program in the fall of 2016. Flowers also serves as the head coach for the men’s and women’s track & field program. Since taking over the program in 2010, Flowers has taken the program to new heights as they have won three-straight Lone Star Conference titles and qualified for the NCAA Championships three times. He has been named LSC Men’s Coach of the Year four times while his teams have finished no worse than second at the past four championships. During his time at WT he has coached one All-American, 23 All-Conference performers, eight All-Region performers and two LSC Runners of the Year.

Education: Kaplan University (B.S., 2006) West Texas A&M (M.B.A., 2007) Best NCAA Finish: 11th, 2014 Best South Central Region Finish: 4th, 2014 Best LSC Finish: 1st (2015, 2014, 2013) Flowers led the WT program to new heights during the 2015-16 ath- All-Americans Coached: 1 letic season as the Buffs finished a program-best fourth in the USTFC- LSC Coach of the Year: 4 CCCA Program of the Year rankings and Geoffrey Kipchumba became the first Buff to earn All-American honors in cross country. He was named Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year for the fourth consecutive season in 2015 while leading the Buffs to an unprecedented third-straight team title. The Buffs joined Abilene Christian as the only teams in LSC history to win three or more consecutive men’s team titles. WT would go on to qualify for the NCAA Championships after finishing fifth at the NCAA South Central Regionals held at The Range where Geoffrey Kipchumba and Blake Whalen earned All-Region honors. Kipchumba would go on to finish 20th at the NCAA Championships to become the Buffs first All-American in program history and lead his team to an 18th place finish. Flowers led the Buffs to back-to-back LSC titles and their highest finish at the NCAA Championships, 11th, in 2014. At the LSC Championships the Buffs placed seven runners in the top 15 including Newcomer of the Year Armanda Rueda and Freshman of the Year Geoffrey Kipchumba. WT would finish fourth at the South Central Regional meet and qualify for nationals for the second time in program history. In 2013, Flowers led the Buffs to their first LSC title in program history behind LSC Runner of the Year Dylan Doss. WT would qualify for the NCAA Championships for the first time in program history finishing fifth at the South Central Regionals held at the Range. The Buffs would finish 14th during their first appearance at the NCAA Championships led by Doss who finished 43rd. He began his career in 2005 as a distance coach for Pantheon Sports Performance. He also served as an assistant coach at Moore (Okla.) High School, coaching both distance and spring events in 2006 and 2007. Flowers has an extensive background of over 15 years in the cross country and track & field as either a competitor, an official or coach. He holds a USA Track and Field Level II certification in distance events. He played football as a running back and return specialist at the University of Tulsa until an injury shortened his career. He received his bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Kaplan University in 2007. In 2008, he received his master’s degree in Business Administration from WTAMU. KIMBERLY DUDLEY HEAD COACH / 20TH SEASON
Kimberly Dudley begins her 20th season as the West Texas A&M women’s cross country coach. Dudley has led the Lady Buffs to unprecedented success after its most successful season ever in 2012 and following up in 2013 with back-to-back LSC Championships. In 2012 and 2014, Dudley was recognized as the LSC Coach of the Year. During the 2014 season, the Lady Buffs tied in the point total at the LSC Championship and finished second under tie-breaker rules. Under Dudley, senior Emma Love earned her second LSC Academic Runner of the Year award while winning her first individual title. She was named LSC Runner of the Year after the season. Dudley was named LSC Coach of the Year for the third time in her career and she qualified two athletes for the NCAA National Championship in Louisville, Ky. where both ran to top-50 finishes in the nation.

All six runners LSC Coach of the Year: 3 who competed earned All-Conference honors at the LSC meet while two athletes made the Academic All-Conference team, including Emma Love, the LSC Academic Runner of the Year who also went on to win the prestigious NCAA Elite 89 Award. Love was also named Captial One FirstTeam Academic All-America while senior Amber Moore made the second-team. Four Lady Buffs were honored on the Capital One Academic All-District Team while three earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors. During the 2012 season, the Lady Buffs won the Lone Star Conference Championship for the first time in program history. The team had five athletes earn All-Conference accolades by finishing in the Top 15 at the LSC Championships with Brenda Sindet becoming the first Lady Buff to win an individual titleoverall title. Sindet, Mireia Guarner, and Amber Moore earned All- Region status after a successful South Central Regional Meet. The team qualified for the NCAA Division II National Meet and placed 11th out of 32 teams. Sindet and Guarner earned All- American status by finishing in the Top 40 at the meet. The team also excelled in the classroom, registering a team GPA of 3.61. During the 2011 season, Dudley guided the team to a second place finish at the LSC Championships. The team also boasted a pair of All-Conference performers with Amber Moore and Elizabeth Beltran receiving the honors. Moore was also named to the All-Region team as well. Along with the athletic success, the team had a GPA of 3.53 for the academic year and numerous honors for their outstanding academic achievements. The Lady Buffs continue to build on their success under Dudley. The team has four LSC runner-up finishes over the last several years (2014, 2011, 2008, and 2005) and two LSC individual champions (Emma Love in 2014, and Brenda Sindet in 2012). The Lady Buffs are one of two schools to have individuals finish 1-2-3 in two different championships. Dudley graduated from WTAMU with her Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1994 and followed up with her Master’s in Exercise and Sports Science in 1996. After graduation, Dudley took over the head coaching position for the team and has guided numerous runners to All-Conference honors and All-Region honors. She is a threetime recipient of the Lone Star Conference Coach of the Year Award (2005, 2012, 2014). 2015: Kipchumba was named the 2015 Lone Star Conference Runner of the Year after an impressive sophomore campaign that saw him become the first All-American in men’s cross country program history with his 20th place finish at the NCAA Division II Championships in Joplin, Mo. He covered the 10,000 meters course in a personal-best time of 30:12.6 to improve 26 spots from the previous year. He earned All-Region honors with his seventh place finish at the South Central Regional Championships (10K) with a time of 30:22.0. He led from start to finish at the Lone Star Conference Championships (8k) earning his first individual title in a time of 25:03.0. Finished 16th overall and 4th in the college division at the Chile Pepper Festival (8k) in a personal-best time of 24:09.5. Throughout the season, he was twice named the LSC Runner of the Week. 2014: Kipchumba earned LSC All-Conference honors with a fourth place individual finish in the LSC Championship (8K), leading the Buffs to a second-consecutive team title and earning himself the LSC Freshman of the Year award. He then led the Buffs to national qualification again as he placed 16th, earning USTFCCCA All-Region accolades, at the NCAA South Central Regional Championship (10K), running a 32:55.0. Then, at the NCAA National Championship (10K), Kipchumba placed 46th overall, running a 31:39.6 and leading the Buffs an 11th place team finish, the highest in program history.

2015: As a sophomore, Cecchini finished the season with a trio of top 25 performances in the Buffalo Stampede (6k), NMJC Cross Country Open (5k) and LSC Championships (6k). She ran a personal-best time of 19:37.8 in the 5k at the Chile Pepper Festival placing 239th. She ran a personal-best time of 23:52.7 in the 6k at the NCAA South Central Regional where she placed 91st. 2014: As a freshman, Cecchini opened up the season with top-50 finishes in both the Joe I. he 2015 season saw the West Texas A&M men’s cross country team earn their third-straight trip to the NCAA Championships, where they finished 18th on a cold, windy day in Joplin, Mo. Geoffrey Kipchumba became the first Buff to earn All-American honors in program history finishing 20th while the team finished 18th with 440 points. The men’s team became just the second team in LSC history to win three-straight team titles led by individual champion Kipchumba and Newcomer of the Year Blake Whalen. Jamie Taylor-Caldwell, Tyson Wieland and Zach Daniel all earned All-Conference honors. The Lady Buffs finished seventh at the LSC meet led by the 21st place finish of Sierra Spinler.
All-American Geoffrey Kipchumba was named LSC Runner of the Year after earning All-South Central honors for the second consecutive year while Whalen also earned All-Region honors finishing 13th. The Lady Buffs relied heavily on underclassmen during the fall of 2015. Sierra Spinler and Chloe Smith finshed as the top runner for five of the six meets during the season while Stephanie Ovalle was the top finisher for WT at Regionals. The Buffs earned USTFCCCA All-Academic Accolades as Daniel was named to the LSC All-Academic and CoSIDA Academic All-American teams.
