Residential Life at Washington University in St. Louis would like to welcome you home to campus! We are excited to have you join us in August and can’t wait to get to know you by name and story. Residential Life is a resource for any housing questions or needs you may have. We have prepared this Move-In Guide to provide important information concerning the logistics of your move. Please read this guide carefully to ensure a smooth experience on Move-In Day. Most questions can be answered by reading this guide. IMPORTANT TO DO LIST: ☐☐ View your room assignment and roommate information by logging into your WashU Housing Portal, via WebSTAC. ☐☐ Check your WashU email several times a week for important information concerning Move-In Day. Each student will be assigned a specific time to move in. Your scheduled time cannot be changed. ☐☐ Bring your parking placard on Move-In Day (tear off on the back of booklet). You will need your parking placard to park your vehicle on campus. ☐☐ Complete your immunization paperwork and submit to WashU’s Habif Health and Wellness Center. You must provide proof of immunizations and health history prior to moving into campus housing. ☐☐ Get in touch with your roommate(s) and start coordinating items you may want to share and bring for your room. PACKING FOR COLLEGE You don’t need to pack your entire room to come to college, but you’ll want to make sure you don’t forget the little things you currently use in your daily life. RESIDENCE HALL MAKE UP ▶▶ Modern Residence Halls: consist of double, triple and single rooms with most layouts consisting of two double rooms adjoined by a restroom. ▶▶ Traditional Residence Halls: consist of double, triple and single rooms, and each floor shares common restrooms. Some are configured with a shared restroom. ▶▶ Residence halls also have study rooms, computer labs, community lounges, kitchens and music practice rooms.


SATURDAY, AUG 17 MOVE-IN DAY PROCEDURES

Arrive to campus at your specified move-in time. If traveling by auto, drive to the unloading zone at the corner of Wallace Drive and Forsyth Blvd. For GPS instructions, please use 6475 Forsyth Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63105 as your destination point. You will be met by a Move-In Day volunteer.

After receiving instructions from the volunteer, continue to the unloading zone. Check that your parking placard is filled out and placed on your dashboard. Once you have arrived at your designated unloading area, you will have 30 minutes to unload your belongings. Student leaders will assist you.

Once unloaded, check in with a team member of your residential college to receive your WashU ID, room key, U-Pass and Bear Beginnings schedule. If you have not submitted a current photo for your WashU ID, Card Services will be open on Move-In Day.

After check-in, please park your car in the available areas, Zone 1 or Zone 2 for long-term parking (see campus map for details).

You did it! Unpack, get comfortable, eat and then head to your required residential community meeting at 5:30 p.m. followed by Convocation Saturday evening.

*International students, Deneb STARS and fall varsity athletes may have a different arrival date than Saturday, Aug 17. Please confirm with your program director or coach.

Welcome tents will be located at the Danforth University Center (DUC), the Sumers Welcome Center and on the South 40. Stop by for information and copies of the Bear Beginnings schedule, Parent & Family Orientation guides, campus maps and St. Louis area shopping and dining information. Golf carts will be available to assist guests who may require assistance traveling around campus. FOR OUR PARENTS AND FAMILIES PARKING ON CAMPUS For GPS instructions, please use 6475 Forsyth Blvd, St. Louis, MO 63105 as your destination point. As you approach campus, you will see the Danforth University Center (DUC) at the intersection of Wallace and Forsyth Blvd. Turn south onto Wallace Drive where you will be met by a Move-In Day volunteer with further instructions. Parking Placard: On arrival, make sure your parking placard (see next page) is filled out and placed on your dashboard. Long-term parking: Parking will be available in Zone 1 (Simon Parking Lot and DUC Garage) and Zone 2 (East End Garage) where you will end the day after Convocation. There is no available long-term parking at the residential halls on the South 40.

Important: After unloading, move your vehicle out of the unloading zone and into long-term parking. Unattended vehicles, or those parked in unauthorized locations or in excess of the 30-minute limit will be towed. Towed vehicles will be moved to First Congregational Church lot at the corner of Wallace Drive and Wydown Blvd.
