Topeka is the capital city in Kansas, and the largest among all MIAA schools with more than 125,000 people calling #TopCity home ... • There are more than 3,500 hotel rooms and over 200 restaurants available in Topeka. • Just minutes from the Washburn campus, the Topeka Zoo features over 250 animals and one of the first indoor tropical rain forests in the United States. • There are many historical places to visit, including the Brown vs. Board of Education site, the State Capitol building and the Kansas Museum of History. • Events such as the Apple Festival and Railroad Festival show off Topeka’s history, as well as events like Fiesta Mexicana, Germanfest, Juneteenth, the Mulvane Art Festival and many more that give a taste of the many diverse backgrounds we have living here. • The Kansas Governor’s Residence is the smallest occupied governor’s residence in the United States, but sits on the largest piece of property. More than 200 acres of nature, jogging and walking trails, and ponds surround the resi-

dence and are open to the public. • Heartland Park is a major drag racing and road racing course. • With unique boutiques, specialty shops and the recently updated West Ridge mall, Topeka is a shopper’s paradise. • From a late-night meal, to live music and excitement, Topeka has a variety of venues, bars and clubs to explore. Catch the big game at a sports bar with great appetizers and drink specials. Kick up your heels to country music classics on a big dance floor. Hear the best in up-and-coming bands at a neighborhood dive bar, or take a short road trip to the casinos located just north of the city. • Topeka gives visitors from small towns a big-city feel, while providing students from major metropolitan areas a more manageable environment.
