THE PROLOGUE In my dream, I saw myself shining. And my body transformed into different shapes by every second. I saw mountains, sunshine and star s on my face; I saw my tear s converging into lakes; I saw forest and villages coming up from my chest; I saw the universe in my palm; I saw my body existing all living creatures and scenery in the world. At that moment, a voice from s omewhere said " You're b or n to b e a storyteller. Tell stories in your own way. " I o p e n e d my eye s . I t s e e m s t h e r e i s something coming out of my mind. I picked up my pen, and wrote down the stories forming in my brain. I said to myself "I am a story teller. It's time to tell stories."

Pa the whale starts his journey of life. He travels many places to see this beautiful world, and ultimately he passes through a door to another world. He transforms into an immortal planet in the universe, existing everlastingly in eyes of somebody who remembers Pa.
Life is a journey. By going through trials, life transforms. Even if life is gone away, the soul becomes immortal existence, and shines in the universe. It’s also a journey to say goodbye to the world, to relatives and friends in order to start a new adventure in another beautiful world.

T h e S c u lp tu re The man was going to somewhere far away and asked the woman to wait for him. She stands at the window to see his leaving. She waits for the man at the window, day by day. But the man never comes back. The scene of the man’s leaving becomes an immortal painting, while the woman gradually becomes a sculpture.

T h e Tre e Ho le The boy tells the girl “you’re like a tree hole which can keep my secrets. We will be good friends forever.” With time passing by, a tree starts to grow in the girl’s ear. The branches scratch her face but she still can’t leave him. In the end, she really becomes a tree. She has forgotten that she is actually a human who has the will and feet to leave.

T h e S e c r e t L ove When I listened to the music, Yumeji's Theme (soundtrack from movie, In the Mood for Love), some images came into my brain. The music gave me an idea about a secret love between a man and a woman. Therefore, I drew a couple who couldn’t tell anyone about their relationship. The sight of weather condi-tion in the second piece is to tell about their emotional state. The plants in the third piece are metaphors about their growing love. In the end, they became parts of each other. They became “the one.”

D o Yo u He a r Me ? Speaking and listening are ways that people communicate with each other. As a result, it might be very lonely for those who are deaf or dumb. I emphasized on the loneliness and explored the reasons of being unable to communicate, there -fore writing the story. The girl in my story keeps the reason of why she can’t hear clearly as a secret. She wants to tell others the reason but in the same time, she is afraid that they won’t believe her.
It’s not until she meets someone who could really listen to her that she can speak it out. I link the images of each page continuously, and tie up the book with rope, putting it in a black box to symbolize the tangle of emotions. If you accidentally find the book in this black box, and are willing to listen to my story, you can untie the rope, and there flows streams of story and secret.

In my opinion, it’s easy to play game by using the shadow. Our imagination can transform the shadow of our hands, our body and objects in daily life into everything, telling different stories.
“What will happen if the real me comes out separately?” And “What will happen if shadow can speak and has emotion as human beings?” The picture book was created when I asked myself the questions.
In addition, what if the shadow is alive? I assume our shadow to represent the most truly and simplest part of us. It might be a little bit childish, but is always honest to itself and express its feeling straightly.
If someday your shadow comes out and asks you to play with it, feel free to have fun! It’s important to release the truly part of self and protect the real side of our own.

Everyone has secrets, and hopes there is someone who can be told and can keep them. We will feel relieve after we tell the secrets. There is a person called secret keeper. He is willing to listen to you and keep your secrets, because he doesn’t have mouth to speak them out.
However, when the secrets accumulate too much and there is no way to release, the secret keeper will finally be overwhelmed by them. He completes his mission: to keep your secrets for his lifetime.

We ’ r e in th e R a iny S e a so n This is a publication about students’ own stories. I use “rain” as a designing concept. Rain washes out everything. I consider the process to write stories of their own as the process to let the rain wash them clearly. After the rain, they are as clean as transparent crystals and shine as the sun, therefore writing down their own stories. Every article use raindrops as quotation marks to emphasize on the most important ideas. There are drizzling pattern on the upper right corner of each spread. You could see it’s like really raining when you flip through pages. The design is to entertain the readers and to respond to the concept of the publication.

T h e F lowe r in th e Rye When I was studied at the National Chengchi University, I took part in the musical” The Flower in the Rye” and helped to take photos. Photographer is a bystander. No matter how the plot is touching, we have to hold the feeling to take photos and record every moment. I caught the emotion on the actors’ faces. I wanted to show the loneliness, sorrow, joy and desire of actors in my photos. I told stories by photos.

THE EPILOGUE Storytelling is a way to communicate with myself and people. Stories can transmit messages and sometimes they are reflection of us. Even simple stories may have profound meaning. I hope to find more inspiration in my life and to tell more stories. In the future, I want to become a stor y teller, whose stories can be told in diversified ways, warm others’ hearts and be seen by the entire world.
