DYNAMIC. State Family
Student life begins when upperclassmen welcome freshmen at the annual State Stride, as incoming students, the President and administrators take an energetic stride down Campus Walk. A true snapshot of American society today, WVSU embraces diversity, and our students experience all the benefits of a diverse community.
ENGAGING. Student Life
Living and learning in state-of-the-art facilities is essential to the college experience and, here at State, we have made great strides in recent years to ensure our campus is among the most modern in the country. A new residence hall opened in fall 2014 with private bedrooms, featuring all the comforts today’s college students have come to expect. Combined with a new 1,350seat arena located near a physiology lab and computer lab to support academic programs and research, expanded Wi-Fi and an athletic center boasting premier training spaces for studentathletes, State’s campus is an ideal home away from home for our students.
CREATIVE. College of Arts & Humanities
Creativity is integral to life at State, and our students are able to learn in an environment that encourages their individual passions to flourish. Through partnerships with arts organizations like the West Virginia Symphony, nationally known musicians regularly visit campus where they rehearse alongside our students. An Artists Series welcomes renowned performers in the world of theatre and television to campus to work handin-hand with our students, while our communications majors travel the world and produce movies in collaboration with students from other countries. With such unparalleled access to learning, our students are truly able to unlock their creative abilities. The result? Artistic masterpieces, inspired personal expression and a lifetime of personal growth.
VISIONARY. College of Business & Social Sciences
Transformative learning begins with exploration. At State, we are known for pushing boundaries and exploring new opportunities. We invest in the local, regional and state community creating new opportunities for our students while, at the same time, supporting economic development efforts. In response to the growing natural gas industry in the region, we launched the state’s first business administration degree with a concentration in energy management, preparing our students today to be leaders in the natural gas industry tomorrow. In political science, our students have access to internships that take them under the state capitol dome in Charleston to see first-hand how the laws that govern our state are created. Academic programs supporting real-world applications enable our students to secure good-paying jobs and, upon graduation, launch their dream careers.
INNOVATIVE. College of Natural Sciences & Mathematics
