BIG 12

CONFERENCE

The Big 12 Conference celebrates its 23rd year, as it continues to promote the strength and success of the nation’s premier athletic conferences under the direction of sixth-year commissioner Bob Bowlsby. The Big 12 Conference is comprised of 10 members – Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, Texas, Texas Tech and West Virginia. Widely regarded as one of the top tennis conferences in the country, the league encompasses five states and nearly 38 million people. More than 4,200 studentathletes from across the United States and around the world compete annually in the sports sponsored by the conference. Five teams represented the Big 12 Conference at the 2017 NCAA Tennis Championships, and three of the five earned a spot within the top-16 seeds: No. 9 Texas, No. 14 Kansas and No. 15 Oklahoma State. Four teams advanced past the first round, including Kansas and Oklahoma State, who both reached this year’s Super Regionals. The 2020 Big 12 Women’s Tennis Tournament will be hosted by Oklahoma State at the Greenwood Tennis Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The conference office is headquartered in Irving, Texas.

“THE BIG 12 CONFERENCE IS ONE OF THE TOUGHEST CONFERENCES IN THE NATION, AND WE COMPETE AGAINST SOME OF THE TOP TEAMS IN COLLEGE TENNIS. IT’S EXCITING TO BE A PART OF THE BIG 12, BECAUSE WE ARE CHALLENGED AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL. IT IS NOT EASY TO COMPETE IN THE BIG 12, AND IT NEVER WILL BE. BUT IT SETS AN EXTREMELY HIGH BAR FOR US, AND THAT’S WHY WE ALL DECIDED TO COME TO WEST VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY – TO BE CHALLENGED AT THAT HIGHEST LEVEL, TO WORK AND BUILD TOWARDS THAT AND TO, ULTIMATELY, SEE HOW FAR WE CAN PUSH THIS PROGRAM.” – MIHA LISAC

IN THE

SPOTLIGHT

Choosing to become a Mountaineer is special. Without a professional sports team in the state, folks from across the state and throughout the region love West Virginia University athletics. No school helps its student-athletes more than the people at WVU. Mountaineers have the unique opportunity to represent themselves, their teammates and their university to news, media, alumni, friends, family and the general public. If you take advantage of these opportunities, it can have a positive effect, not only on your career as a student-athlete at West Virginia, but also on your life after you have donned the Old Gold and Blue.

IN THE

COMMUNITY

Representing West Virginia University, the city of Morgantown and the state of West Virginia in a charitable manner is important to the WVU women’s tennis team. The Mountaineers are constantly involved in community service activities throughout the state. The team has a continuing relationship with Habitat for Humanity, the WVU Children’s Hospital and the United States Tennis Association (USTA), which makes the team aware of any volunteer openings in the area. The women’s tennis team also hosts youth camps and clinics throughout the year in order to involve the community with the program. Becoming successful and positive role models on and off the court are important to the WVU women’s tennis team. The Mountaineers give back to Morgantown and its surrounding communities every chance they get.

“COMMUNITY SERVICE IS ONE OF THE MOST CRUCIAL THINGS THAT WE DO. THIS IS A VERY SMALL, TIGHT-KNIT COMMUNITY. COMMUNITY SERVICE FOR US IS A PART OF GIVING BACK TO THE COMMUNITY THAT SUPPORTS US SO WELL. NOT JUST US AS THE TENNIS TEAM BUT THE ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT OVERALL. IT IS VERY, VERY IMPORTANT THAT WE CONTINUE TO STAY CONNECTED TO THE COMMUNITY AND THAT WE CONTINUE TO SHOW OUR APPRECIATION.” – MIHA LISAC

In 2014, former West Virginia University women’s tennis player Jo Marie (Cinco) Bohn was inducted into the 24th annual WVU Sports Hall of Fame at the Caperton Indoor Practice Facility. “It was so unexpected. As I look back on the previous inductees and their past collegiate accomplishments, I was completely shocked that I was inducted into the WVU Sports Hall of Fame,” Bohn said. A former standout for the women’s tennis team, Bohn put together a career record of 214-73 from 1988 to 1992 under former coach Martha Thorn. Bohn received her degree in sports management from WVU in 1992, and 22 years later she continues to remain at the top of the record book. The 1989 Atlantic 10 Conference Freshman of the Year, Bohn finished her career as the 1992 Atlantic 10 Senior of the Year and remains the only player in WVU history to win more than 60 matches in one season and have two 30-win seasons in singles matches. Bohn also was honored with a spot on the Atlantic 10 All-Tournament Team in her final season as a Mountaineer. “This honor means a lot to me. I come from a small women’s sport at a large University,” Bohn said, a native of Charleston, West Virginia. “I also come from a small high school, Charleston Catholic High, so to receive the highest collegiate athletic award one can acquire is an amazing feeling.” Although, the highlight of her college years were not the accolades she received year after year, but simply donning the Old Gold and Blue. “I enjoyed the team, traveling and even the band practicing a ly can say that I miss it all,” Bohn said. As the assistant coach for the women’s tennis team at the University of Charleston from 2012-14, Bohn encouraged her players to live in the moment and to not take the game they love for granted. “As a college athlete you only get four years to play, so why not give it your all and leave with no regrets,” Bohn said. “Then hopefully down the road you can look back and be proud of your contribution to your University.” Bohn resides in Charleston with husband, Pete Bohn, and their two children, Jada and Xavier. She is currently a tennis instructor at the local YMCA and the Charleston Tennis Club. The 2014 class also included Michael Anti (rifle), Chris Enochs (baseball), George King (men’s basketball), Mike Krak (golf), Gene Lathey (football), Mike Logan (football) and Lester Rowe (men’s basketball). The class brought the number of total inductees to 156.

STUDENT-ATHLETE

DEVELOPMENT

West Virginia University offers a variety of services and programs to help student-athletes maximize their academic potential. Department staff members work with coaches, on campus student service providers and faculty to help student-athletes meet the unique demands of the classroom, the supporting arena and the personal-social challenges they face as developing adults While many of the headlines center of the Mountaineers’ accomplishments on the playing field, West Virginia athletes have also made some noteworthy strides in the classroom. Some of those strides include of 11 consecutive years where the department has had at least one first team Academic All-American. To help its student-athletes achieve academic success, one of the nation’s finest facilities resides in the WVU Coliseum - The Athletic Academic Performance Center. The 8,000-square foot facility provides individual and group study areas, a plethora of computer stations and the latest in fingerprint technology used when signing in. A total of 488 student-athletes were represented in 2014-15 on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll, of which 43 of them registered a 4.0 GPA. Additionally, seven student-athletes were named recipients of the fifth annual Dr. Gerald Large Academic Achievement Award, which is the Big 12 Conference’s highest academic honor. Over 500 student-athletes were honored on WVU’s Garrett Ford Academic Honor Roll. Implemented in 1989, the Garrett Ford Academic Honor Roll was created to recognize students who have achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or better. Since the program began in 1989, nearly 4,000 student-athletes have earned a place on the honor roll. Ford retired in 2011 after 44 years of service with the WVU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

MIHA HEAD COACH » 7th SEASON AT WEST VIRGINIA » VELENJE, SLOVENIA Miha Lisac (MEE-ha LEE-sots) enters his seventh season as the head coach of the West Virginia University tennis program. The 2009 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Coach of the Year, Lisac previously spent six seasons as head coach at Georgia State, where he built one of the top Division I programs in the nation. Lisac is a former student-athlete at Georgia State and served as the men’s assistant coach for two years. In 2007, Lisac was named head coach of the women’s tennis team at his alma mater. While at Georgia State, Lisac led the women’s tennis program to one conference title, back-to-back CAA Championship final appearances and two other berths in the CAA Championship semifinals. His overall record as a head coach stands at 101-136. The highlight of his tenure came in 2009 when he guided Georgia State to the first NCAA Championship appearance in school history and was named CAA Coach of the Year. AT WEST VIRGINIA Lisac and the Mountaineers finished the 2019 season with a record of 10-12, the best mark WVU had achieved since 2010 (17-7). WVU competed against six ranked opponents in 2019, including four in the top 25 nationally, and swept four opponents. West Virginia wrapped up the 2018 season with a 7-14 overall record while competing against at least eight teams ranked in the top 50 of the ITA/Oracle team rankings for the second consecutive year. The highlight of the campaign came with a 4-1 win over Iowa State, WVU’s first Big 12 conference win in program history. The win solidified the program’s growth under Lisac’s watch and marked another milestone in his goal to become consistent Big 12 contenders. In addition to leading WVU past in-state rival Marshall for the second straight year, West Virginia also saw four Mountaineers post at least 20 wins in singles and doubles play during the year. Paula Goetz capped the season by being named to the CoSIDA Google Cloud Academic All-District and All-America Teams, the Mountaineers’ first selection in program history. 2019-20 SEASON

PREVIEW

Back and ready for another year, the West Virginia University women’s tennis team returns six letterwinners and welcomes a new member to the Mountaineer tennis family. WVU tennis enters the 2019-20 season with the goal to improve and grow each and every day to become one of the best programs in the Big 12 Conference and the nation. Miha Lisac enters his seventh season at the helm for the Mountaineers and is ready to help WVU soar to new heights.

HERE, THERE AND EVERYWHERE: MOUNTAINEERS AROUND THE WORLD Entering his seventh season leading the Mountaineer tennis program, Lisac – a native of Velenje, Slovenia – has always had diverse, international roster of student-athletes year in and year out. The Mountaineers have seven players hailing from five different countries, including three different continents.

This year’s squad is led by seniors Sofia Duran and Christina Jordan, who have completed 285 matches between their two careers. Aided by four other returners (juniors Giovanna Caputo and Anne-Sophie Courteau and sophomores Anastasiia Bovolskaia and Nicole Roc), the Mountaineers’ mission is to build upon their previous experience and produce a competitive, passionate spirit on the court.

Two Mountaineers hail from South America: senior Sofía Duran (Guayaquil, Ecuador) and junior Giovanna Caputo (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil).

Playing in the best tennis conference in the nation – the Big 12 – WVU faces another rigorous schedule in 2019-20, which will provide the Mountaineers with several familiar obstacles to overcome and some new challenges along the way. Even with one of the toughest conferences in all of college tennis, Lisac and the rest of the support staff are preparing the Mountaineers to compete. COMPETING IN THE CLASSROOM The Mountaineers continued their tradition of excellence in the classroom, averaging a 3.22 grade point average (GPA) in 2018-19. Five student-athletes were selected to AllAcademic Big 12 First Team last year, the most in the Big 12 Conference. Recent graduates Paula Goetz, Abigail Rosiello and Kirsten white, as well as juniors Giovanna Caputo and Anne-Sophie Courteau all collected first-team honors, while sophomores Anastasiia Bovolskaia and Nicole Roc were selected to the Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team. Furthermore, four student-athletes – Caputo, Goetz, Roc and Rosiello – were named ITA Scholar-Athletes and WVU was named an ITA All-Academic team for the sixth consecutive year. Rosiello captured one of the most successful academic years in Mountaineer tennis history. On top of her Academic AllBig 12 First Team and ITA Scholar-Athlete honors, Rosiello was named one of WVU’s 40 Most Outstanding Senior and received the Dr. Prentice Gautt Postgraduate Scholarship from the Big 12 Conference. The Morgantown, West Virginia, native also was selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District 2 Women’s At-Large Team after posting a perfect 4.0 GPA. Rosiello capped the year by being named to the 2019 Google Cloud Academic All-America Women’s Second Team, the highest selection for WVU in 2019 and WVU tennis’ highest Academic All-American ever.

Junior Anne-Sophie Courteau is a Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada, native. She is the lone Canadian on the roster. Sophomore Anastasiia Bovolskaia traveled 6,076 miles – the furthest on the team – from Irkutsk, Russia to join the WVU tennis squad. She is the lone Russian on the roster. Rounding out the roster, senior Christina Jordan and sophomore Nicole Roc both hail from the Midwestern United States. Jordan is a native of West Bloomfield, Michigan, and Roc is from Chicago, Illinois. Finally, newcomer Kat Lyman joins the Mountaineer tennis team from Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. A PAIR OF SENIORS In 2019, head coach Miha Lisac will once again look to his seniors and their experience to help produce a competitive Mountaineer tennis team. Competing in nearly 300 matches in their first three years, senior Sofia Duran and Christina Jordan are seasoned veterans who will look to lead the Mountaineers on their journey to win a Big 12 title. With a great amount of experience behind them, Duran and Jordan have made every second of their time as Mountaineers count, on and off the court. WVU WELCOMES SOMEONE NEW In July 2019, the West Virginia tennis program welcomed the newest addition to this year’s squad – Kat Lyman. A native of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Lyman was rated as a four-star recruit, according to Tennisrecruiting. net, and reached her highest national ranking of No. 26 in June 2017. She checked in at No. 64 nationally, her highest ranking of 2019, in July. A graduate of Oceanside Collegiate Academy, Lyman was ranked as the No. 5 player in South Carolina and No. 20 in the Southeast region in 2019. Lyman began her junior tennis career at Wando High School in Mount Pleasant where she led the Warriors to a state championship in 2015-16 as a freshman. As a sophomore, she helped Wando High finish the season as the state runner up.

WVUSPORTS.COM

In 2016, Lyman won the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Southern Junior Tournament and was awarded the South Carolina Kimberly Hampton Award, given to the junior player who makes the most improvement in their game with consideration given to their improvement in state, section and national rankings. She also won the Chick-fil-A Palmetto Championships, South Carolina’s junior qualifying tournament, and advanced to the USTA Southern Junior Tournament for the second consecutive year in 2017. Prior to her junior year, Lyman transferred to Oceanside Collegiate Academy. As a senior, she went undefeated and helped the Landsharks secure a Class AA state runner-up finish in 2018-19. As a result, Lyman was named The Post and Courier All-Lowcountry Player of the Year and the Moultrie News Best Prep Sports Player of the Year. She was also named to the All-Lowcountry Girls Tennis Team and the South Carolina All-State Girls Tennis Team. DOUBLES OVERVIEW Even with losing graduate Abigail Rosiello, one of WVU’s best doubles players in 2019, every returner was a contributor in doubles play last season. Junior AnneSophie Courteau, last year’s Team MVP, tied for the team lead in doubles wins (18) a season ago and leader in the Mountaineer clubhouse with 30 career doubles wins.

Seniors Christina Jordan and Sofia Duran check in at second and third on the team, with 29 and 24 career doubles victories, respectively. Junior Giovanna Caputo comes into 2019 with 20 career doubles wins, the fourth-most on the team. Sophomores Anastasiia Bovolskaia and Nicole Roc round out all returners with 11 and four career doubles wins, respectively. Collectively, this year’s Mountaineer roster has 118 doubles wins under its belt and is looking to be strong and competitive in doubles play this season. SINGLES OVERVIEW The 2019 West Virginia tennis team is looking to rally behind impressive seasons from a trio of Mountaineers. Junior Anne-Sophie Courteau and sophomores Anastasiia Bovolskaia and Nicole Roc all posted 10-win seasons in singles last spring. Additionally, Bovolskaia posted a 20-win season in singles between the fall and spring a year ago. Junior Giovanna Caputo leads the Mountaineers with 33 career singles wins, followed shortly by Courteau with 28 career singles wins for second place. Bovolskaia and senior Sofia Duran are tied for third place on the team with 23 career singles wins, with senior Christina Jordan checking in next with 19 career singles wins. Roc rounds out the team with 10 career singles wins. This year’s Mountaineers roster looks to build on the experiences that they have built through playing in, arguably, the best tennis conference in the nation – the Big 12.

PRESIDENT » WEST VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY

E. GORDON

D

GEE J.D., ED.D

r. E. Gordon Gee is one of America’s most prominent higher education leaders, having helmed universities for more than three decades. In 2009, Time magazine named him one of the top 10 university presidents in the United States. Recently, the website Great Value Colleges named him the nation’s top university president. In 2014, Gee returned to West Virginia University, where his career as a university president began. His leadership goals include putting students first, advancing the university’s research agenda, partnering with West Virginia communities and making sure that 1.8 million West Virginians know in their hearts and minds that West Virginia University is their university. Born in Vernal, Utah, Gee graduated from the University of Utah with an honors degree in history and earned his J.D. and Ed.D. degrees from Columbia University. He clerked under Chief Justice David T. Lewis of the U.S. 10th Circuit Court of Appeals before being named a judicial fellow and staff assistant to the U.S. Supreme Court. In this role, he worked for Chief Justice Warren Burger on administrative and legal problems of the Court and federal judiciary. Gee returned to Utah as an associate professor and associate dean in the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University and was granted full professorship in 1978. One year later, he became dean of the West Virginia University College of Law, and, in 1980, was named West Virginia University president. He served in that role until 1985. He went on to lead the University of Colorado (1985-1990), Brown University (1998-2000) and Vanderbilt University (20012007). He served as president of The Ohio State University from 1990 to 1997 and again from 2007 to 2013. Gee has been a member of several education-governance organizations and committees including the Big 12 Conference Council of Presidents, the Business-Higher Education Forum and the American Association of Universities. He was chair of the American Council on Education’s Commission on Higher Education Attainment and served as co-chair of the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities’ Energy Advisory Committee. In 2009, Gee was invited to join the International Advisory Board of King Adbulaziz University in Saudi Arabia, and he currently serves on the Board of the Royal University for Women in Bahrain. In March 2015, he was elected to the board of directors of the American Council on Education, the nation’s largest higher education organization. And he served as chair of the Big 12 Board of Directors Executive Committee for the 2017-18 year. Gee presently serves on the council of presidents for the Southern University Research Association. Mentoring and inspiring youth is one of Gee’s highest priorities. He serves on the National Executive Board for Boy Scouts of America and on the Board of Trustees for the National 4-H Council. Through his leadership, West Virginia University has created a Youth Development Initiative office to expand its partnering relationships with Boy Scouts, 4-H and similar organizations. Gee has received many honorary degrees, awards, fellowships and recognitions. He is a fellow of the prestigious American Association for the Advancement of Science, the world’s largest science organization. In 1994, Gee received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Utah, as well as from Teachers College of Columbia University. DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS

SHANE

I

LYONS ASSOCIATE VICE-PRESIDENT

n his fifth year as the director of athletics at West Virginia University, Shane Lyons’ vison for the athletic program is crystal clear and working. It’s a vision that focuses on the betterment of more than 500 student-athletes and the day-to-day needs that will help them succeed in the classroom and in competition. His open lines of communications have made him a popular role model for WVU athletes and coaches. His honest, fair and caring approach has energized an entire department, which has led to great success on and off the field. Whether it’s regularly scheduled meetings with the student-athletes or his open-door office policy, Lyons has his finger on the pulse of his student-athletes, coaches and staff. He devotes endless energy to his Climbing Higher facilities master plan that will keep West Virginia a strong Power 5 institution and position his department for growth and continued success. Lyons’ Climbing Higher facilities master plan isn’t about keeping up with the Joneses, it’s about taking what his department has, improving it and making it complete for the student-athlete. It’s an aggressive $100 million fundraising campaign centered on one of his core values, which is enhancing the student-athlete experience. From training, nutrition, medical and competitiveness, Lyons’ vision is for future success, building winning programs and growing WVU’s strong reputation across the country. He is about results, and he has already left a great deal of accomplishments in his rear-view mirror. In 2019, West Virginia recorded its highest APR score ever at 985 and again finished higher than the national average. The overall athletics department GPA was its highest at 3.26 with 13 teams over a 3.0 GPA for the year. Lyons commissioned and announced an Economic Impact study that showed Mountaineer Athletics produced more than $300 million to the state’s economy and more than $78 million to the local economy. And with the local economy in mind, Lyons’s department will assist with the formal opening of a new $45 million aquatic and track facility that will not only benefit WVU’s swimming and diving program, but also local high schools and the entire community. Among the Mountaineer highlights in the 2019 campaign were 43 All-Americans, 81 All-Conference performers, three conference championships, 159 Academic AllConference selections, seven teams to the NCAA postseason, a fourth-place finish for the Heisman Trophy and 22 professional draft picks among all sports. In addition, Lyons’ department hosted for the first time in history both the NCAA Rifle Championships and the Big 12 golf championship as well as the NCAA baseball regionals for the first time since 1955. In total, WVU athletics hosted more than 160 events during the 2018-19 season. From 2015-18, he spearheaded and finished more than $100 million in fan enhancements to Milan Puskar Stadium and the WVU Coliseum, completed a second phase Coliseum renovations, bringing the arena up to current ADA seating code, and for the first-time ever, introduced a second video board to Milan Puskar Stadium to provide information and improve fan entertainment. Overseeing 18 varsity sports, a self-sustaining department budget of more than $93 million and 250 employees, under Lyons’ leadership, WVU athletics has implemented a Clinical and Sport Psychology unit with a full-time director and professional interns, added specialized learning assistants to the Student-Athlete Development unit and entered into a partnership with WVU Medicine’s Neuroscience Department to assist in the training and recovery of student-athletes, all emphasizing his overall commitment to the well-being and performance of Mountaineer student-athletes. Ask him and he’ll tell you it’s not his department, but West Virginia’s department, and he can tell you his vision to improve it not only for the coming year, but for three, five, seven and 10 years down the road. He cares, and the proof lies in what he has already accomplished in four years. The director hates to be last, and he rolls up his sleeves every day to make sure WVU is not last in anything. Additionally, his work with WVU President E. Gordon Gee’s senior leadership team, as well as the Big 12 Conference and other national committees, has brought additional respect and positive exposure to his department and the University. He currently serves on the Big 12 Administration Committee, Finance and Budget Committee and the Game Management and Officiating Subcommittee. In 2018, he chaired the overall athletic directors committee for the Big 12, was named again to the NCAA Division I Council and will serve as chair of the NCAA Division I Football Oversight Committee. He is also a member of the college football competition committee and locally serves on the board of directors for Mylan Park i n Morgantown. Lyons came to West Virginia after spending three years as the deputy director of athletics and chief operating officer at Alabama where he worked closely on day-to-day strategic leadership and direction of the Crimson Tide Athletic program. During his time at Alabama, his responsibilities included oversight of a $120 million budget, management of the day-to-day operations of the department and oversight of the Crimson Tide’s 21 sports teams. In addition, he played a pivotal role in a historic renegotiation of Alabama’s multimedia rights agreement that started in 2014 and was involved in several significant capital projects totaling more than $85 million. The Crimson Tide won seven national titles in five different sports during his time there – two in football, two in men’s golf, one in women’s golf, one in gymnastics and one in softball. He also played a critical role in the hiring of four Alabama head coaches. Prior to joining the Alabama staff in November 2011, Lyons spent 10 years as an associate commissioner at the Atlantic Coast Conference. At the ACC, Lyons focused on

conference-wide compliance and academic initiatives, providing direct assistance to the conference’s presidents, chancellors and athletics directors in matters dealing with NCAA regulatory matters. In addition, he served as the ACC’s human resource manager and was responsible for the administration, negotiation and mediation of the employee benefits program and managing the conference’s organizational policies and procedures. He was part of the senior administrative team for ACC events, including the football championship game, the men’s basketball tournament and men’s and women’s NCAA basketball events. Prior to working at the ACC, Lyons served as associate athletics director for compliance at Big 12 member Texas Tech from 1998 to 2001. During that time, Lyons assumed responsibility for the leadership, administration and implementation of a comprehensive NCAA compliance program with emphasis toward rules education and extensive monitoring systems. He also served as oversight administrator for several of the Red Raiders’ athletic teams and had financial and operational supervision of the strength and conditioning, nutritional and sports medicine units. Before joining Texas Tech, Lyons worked at the NCAA for almost 10 years as a senior membership services representative, where he was responsible for the oversight and coordination of rules and interpretations for the 25 membership service representatives and was the staff liaison to various NCAA standing committees. Lyons began his career in college athletics in July 1988 as assistant commissioner of the Big South Conference. With the Big South, he was in charge of conference-wide compliance and championships. A native of Parkersburg, West Virginia, and a graduate of Parkersburg High, Lyons was a standout basketball player for the Big Reds. He earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in sport management from WVU in 1987 and 1988, respectively. Lyons, the University’s 12th athletic director, and his wife, Emily, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, have two children: Cameron and Brooke. Cameron is a member of the football team at Akron and Brooke attends Morgantown High School.
