ABOUT EU HOLIDAYS MISSION • Delighting every travel experience
VISION • Be Travellers’ FIRST choice
VALUES 1. Deliver what we promise 2. Serve customers passionately 3. Do what we do, best 4. Make work fun 5. Care for employees 6. Stay as one big family as we grow 7. Be a good business partner 8. Be socially responsible
PROGRESS AND MILESTONES EU Holidays was founded by a group of experienced directors passionate about their work in the travel industry. They wanted to do something new that could better serve the travel needs of consumers, which is the main driving force behind the establishment of our travel agency. Within five years of business operations, we have expanded EU Holidays and opened up three other subsidiary offices to focus on the various needs of our customers. The EU MICE office was set up in 2013 to cater for corporate travel with a focus on corporate meetings, conventions and events. In that same year, EU Asia was launched to cater for customers who are interested in travelling within Asia. In the following year, we opened up EU Vacations to serve the Malaysian market. In
doing so, EU Holidays strives to constantly improve our products and services so that we can better serve our customers. Despite being a young company, EU Holidays has gained significant recognition from both customers and industry professionals. Founded in late 2010, EU Holidays was voted Top MasterCard Supporter in NATAS Travel for four consecutive years since 2012. Since then, EU Holidays was named the ‘Best Travel Agency for Europe and USA Tours’ as voted by readers of ESCAPE! Magazine. After just two years in the business, EU Holidays was presented with two valuable awards – the Asia Excellence Award 2013 and the Singapore Excellence Award 2013. In 2014, we received the Singapore Quality Brands 2014 award and the Weekender Travellers’ Choice Award as No. 1 for Europe and USA tours, as voted by readers. We continued to be awarded for the next three years by Weekender and held our position as the top travel agency in Singapore. From Tripzillia.sg - Singapore’s No.1 Travel Portal – EU Holidays also acquired excellence awards in “Best for Europe 2015” and “Best for USA 2015”. The coveted award recognises the most outstanding travel companies for their professionalism and experience in the travel industry. EU Holidays Pte Ltd has recently received the prestigious Singapore Trusted Quality Brand 2015 award from the Singapore Enrich Group. In addition, the travel agency has gone through the year-long Customer- Centric Initiative (CCI) program and successfully attained the Singapore Service Class certification under the Ministry of Trade and Industry agency, SPRING Singapore. The agency certifies EU Holidays with the niche Business Excellence (BE) standard for service.

Why Travel in Winter?
P
ure, white and soft, snow is a rare beauty that only appears during one season each year and that’s for nontropical islands near the equator. For city dwellers that are pretty much sick of the sun and humidity, seeing gorgeous snowflakes plunge from the sky is a priceless experience in itself. The weather may be biting and the temperature may be freezing, but the sight of snow-covered roads and snow-capped mountains trumps it all, hands down. Have you always wanted to get down and dirty and make a snow angel? Or build a snowman? Or engage in a snowball fight? Without winter, these activities would not be possible. Without winter, there also would not be snowboarding or skiing. Sure, there are alternatives to these sports, but they’re just not the same without the crunchy, icy

ground. Besides, if you’re venturing near a forested area, you may even discover a rad frozen lake or better yet, an ice cave. Though, it’s better to be safe than sorry when exploring mysterious off-track locations. Next, this may be a no-brainer, but in winter, there’s never a time when you will have to complain about sweating because of the scorching sun’s sweltering heat. Be honest: no one likes to burn and be subjected to possible heat stroke. When it’s the time of year where water turns into snow, it will feel like there’s automatic airconditioning wherever you go. You will feel the delightful glow of the sun, but you won’t melt. Any sane person wouldn’t be able to say no to that. As the temperature drops, so will the prices for air tickets and hotel rooms. This is
because everyone who prefers vacations at the beach would usually flock towards where the sun is. In a bid to attract travellers and keep their tourism industry alive and thriving, these establishments will most likely offer discounts and deals. A huge plus for budget-conscious visitors, it basically offers picturesque wintery views and experiences for lesser. Thanks to all the residents who have fled the country temporarily for a sunnier one, there will be fewer people crowding the places of attraction. No more getting stuck at the back of a horde with a lousy view; no more elbowing strangers for personal space; no more winding queues and long waiting hours. Whether you’re heading to the museum or the ski resort, you’ll get to lap it up in tranquillity and near blissful solitude.

‘Tis the season to be snowy! If you’re thinking about going for a Christmas vacation, stop and consider a wintery destination, unlike Miami, Thailand or Dubai. There may be worries about the bleak weather, lack of colour and the dangers of falling ill, but there are plenty more reasons why you should take on a holiday during the winter season. Here are five of them.
4 TIPS
to Survive Winter Winter can turn out to be a brutal season if you’re not aware of the necessary precautions to take. For all the first-timers, this mini guide will come in handy and aid in ensuring a more pleasurable holiday in the snow. 1.
2.
3.

4.
Keep your immune system up by taking your vitamins every day. You wouldn’t want to have one hand on ski poles and another hand stuffing tissue paper into your nose. Don’t end up becoming Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, who has to stay indoors with a pathetic bowl of chicken broth. When it gets cold, the air loses its humidity. As a result, your skin will be affected by the environment and become all dry and chapped. The worst part is feeling the damage on your lips. To prevent these problems, go crazy on the moisturiser. Follow a skincare regime religiously and regularly. Winter has a dress code, and unless you’re an experienced native who has braved multiple blizzards and survived, don’t go against it. First things first, get some long johns. The more coverage the better, so you’ll need a long winter coat as well – not a leather jacket or a cardigan, but a winter coat. A thick wool sweater will do the trick when you’re indoors. Other essential garments include thick socks, scarves, gloves and a sturdy pair of snow boots. Stay active to beat the cold. It may take a while to get used to the plunging negative degree temperatures, so aside from staying put in front of the fireplace, the next best way to survive it is to do some exercise. Be it a casual jog around the neighbourhood or a full-on skiing and ice-skating adventure, these high-energy activities will help generate more bodily heat and battle the frosty forecast.

Things to do in New York Here’s a list of the best things to do on a casual night out in the Big Apple.
PHOTO: 123RF/ ANDREY BAYDA
Visit the Rockefeller Centre You don’t need a single dime to tour the Rockefeller Centre on your own. The complex of commercial buildings was constructed during the Great Depression, and has since then been a significant landmark. As you walk around the grounds, don’t miss the art deco designs of the buildings, as well as the art and impressive sculptures displayed publicly everywhere. Rockefeller Centre even has an ice-skating rink, otherwise known as the Rock Centre Ice Rink.
Stroll along Fifth Avenue The infamous Fifth Avenue is an absolute
must-visit. Located in Manhattan in New York City, the Fifth Avenue starts from West 143rd Street to Washington Square North and is known as a shopping mecca with some of the most expensive price tags, although quality can always be ensured. A few landmarks to look forward to as you walk through the Avenue include the Aeolian Building, Gorham Building, Lord & Taylor, Rizzoli Building, Sidewalk Clock, Saks Fifth Avenue, The St. Regis Hotel, the Swiss Center Building, the 500 Fifth Avenue Building, as well as the Manufacturers Trust Company Building and the George W. Vanderbilt Residence.
Visit Times Square A big-time commercial intersection, Times Square is located at Midtown Manhattan and is known to be one of the world’s busiest intersections, as it attracts about 39 million visitors every single year consistently. Bright lights and big neon signs are a sure thing in Times Square. Some of the area’s most intriguing landmarks you can’t miss are the Disney Store, The Hard Rock Café New York, M&M’s World, Planet Hollywood, Times Square Studios, the famous Coca-Cola sign, Toys ‘R Us, in which lies a ferris wheel, and the Chevrolet clock. Here, you can also satisfy your shopping needs. If there is one store you have to check out, it is Forever 21.

TOP 5
Most Breath-taking Sights in Machu Picchu
1
Dominating all others, the most enthralling spot in all of South America is Machu Picchu. Dating back to the 15th century, the ancient site is allegedly the last Incan city in Peru. Its primeval presence will transport you into the mysterious world of yesteryear. To reach the ruins, you would have to journey 2,430m above the sea level to the top of the mountain. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the abandoned grounds blend into the steep, rocky terrain and green plains. To get the best views, head to the highest point for a panorama of the almost systematically placed rows of stonewalls.
South Iguazu Falls America 5
In Latin America, home to such nations as Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Peru, there is no shortage of beauty, both natural and manufactured. We provide you with a run-down of the most picturesque attractions in the continent that promises to take your breath away.
Straddling between the border of Brazil and Argentina is the arc-shaped waterfall, Iguazu Falls. The gargantuan natural landmark spans an impressive 2,700m across from end to end, making it one of the world’s largest cataracts. Watch in awe as the curtain of water cascade down an 80m distance. A train ride takes you to the waterfall, but if you prefer to be airborne, you can hop on to a helicopter as well. Found in the heart of the Iguazu National Park, it is enveloped in dense greenery, which also makes for an impressive sight. Diverse and eye-catching, the wildlife there, such as howler monkeys, jaguars and tapirs, can be easily spotted.
Torres Del Paine
PHOTO: 123RF/ ÅUKASZ KURBIEL, DMITRY BURLAKOV, MACIEJ BÅ‚Ä™DOWSKI, JAN TREGER, MICHAL KNITL
3
Coming in third is the Torres del Paine National Park in Chile. Picturesque mountains and glaciers, almost too impressive to seem real, sit among winding rivers and lakes. The protected area may be populated with stunning flora and fauna, but the show-stealer remains to be the trio of mountain peaks known as Torres del Paine, the park’s namesake. Other odd-shaped, snow-capped Alps command attention as well.
Ica Desert Uyuni Salt Flats
2
At 10,582sqkm, Bolivia’s Uyuni Salt Flats is the largest of its kind in the world. Unlike the sand dunes of the Ica Desert, this vast stretch of land has a level surface coated with a snowy white salt crust. What’s more, the unbelievably breath-taking panorama looks like a giant mirror that reflects the sky, hence creating the illusion of a reduced gap between the Earth and sky.
4
Venture towards southern Peru and you will find the city of Ica, within which lies the renowned Ica Desert. An endless landscape of sand dunes dipping in and out of the horizon, the barren land is not a sight commonly seen in urban cities. Take advantage of the soft terrain to do some sandboarding or roam around in sand buggies. Don’t forget to make a pit stop at Huacachina, a puny village in the Ica Region, a lone settlement surrounded by the expanse of sand. The spectacular desert oasis, built around a lake, is surprisingly inhabited by only a hundred over people.
