The Tram Line is a collection of boards that are united through a shared love of the turn. It’s a quiver of directional boards for arcs of different shapes, mountains of different contours and snow of different consistencies. The Mountain Division is a versatile assassin built for logging multiple days in spots like Jackson, St. Anton, Stowe and Niseko. Whether it snows or not, our innovative camber shaping and our targeted placement of proprietary carbon tubes create a ride that floats through the light stuff, blasts through the chop and digs deep ruts on the groomers. Our Whiteroom is built on a design package that optimizes float and powder carving, with the power to snap off a lip and throw clouds. We created the Winterland for riders who appreciate a high-quality turn in any type of snow conditions. It’s for riders who lap buffed out groomed trails and who want the freedom to venture into the sidecountry to float the less common, semi-secret lines. Along the way, they created RK1 and they continue to put out video edits with their unique approach to snowboarding. A typical season has each rider heading in different directions for twelve months around the globe to film snowboarding and shred contests. Whenever they get the

chance to meet up film together, one thing is true of every RK1 video—it’s guaranteed to be a video based around fun with friends and creative snowboard progression that makes you want to shred. In support of the way they snowboard and share the stoke with other riders, we’ve created the Rome x RK1 collection of boards, a binding, and some select apparel pieces.

The Label is the perfect progression-oriented design for smaller riders who are big enough to be pushing into advanced levels of riding, but still small enough to ride product specifically designed for kids. To complement our Minishred board and how quickly it helps kids learn how to properly rip a snowboard, we created the Minishred binding. The Blur is the choice when you want a technical board that can ride the mountain with speed, quickness and power. Advanced riders, from contest riders to seasoned locals, often demand the high-energy response of positive camber whether their preference is ripping clean turns or popping off the lips of jumps. In the redesigned Lo-Fi, we’ve put our innovative “modern” positive camber into the chassis of the board. Positive camber for most of the running length, we put a touch of rocker at the contact points for easier initiation and completion of turns. The result is powerful all-mountain performance with a smoother personality.

The award-winning Kashmir came on the scene last year with a bang. Our Contact camber’s flat profile gives it the right blend of responsive performance for dropping freeride lines and the fun flexibility for running park laps. To complement the more mellow nature of the flat camber, we add edge response with our FiveGnar sidecut that increases power in nose, tail and directly between the feet.

A typical day for the Guide SRT might involve running high-speed top-to-bottom laps or tucking into the trees to drop a less well-known line. It might involve running splitboard laps in a bottomless zone or boot-packing up a long backcountry couloir. With this life of mountain shredding in mind, we construct an upper leather for durability and climbing rubber for a better connection between boot and binding. We give each piece a temperature rating. This is an average target for what temperatures the piece is ideal for. Depending on the rider, it can vary with layering and how hot or cold each rider runs.

For our quiver of board designs that rip different zones of the mountain from the summit couloirs to the handrail near the lodge, our Co-Founder and board designer Paul Maravetz creates cambers, shapes, technologies and material placements that optimize three things that snowboarding demands:

CAMBER DESIGN Snowboarding has a wide diversity of super fun ways of shredding the mountain— trees, park, groomers, cliff lines, side hits, street features, half pipes, open bowls, backyards and more. And different cambers are better at bringing the stoke for some types of riding than other cambers. Selecting your cambers to build a quiver comes down to what you want to ride and how you want to ride it.

From rocks to rails to the way some other brands design binding baseplates, there are certain things in snowboarding that put stress on snowboards. So we create technologies to make your board last longer.

We will always make the camber that most of our team riders and long-term Syndicate riders demand: positive camber through 100% of the running length. The reason why snowboarders like Stale, Ozzy, Bjorn and Alek like pure positive camber is for the high level of response it delivers. It loads rider energy and releases it with a distinctive feel for precision and power for carving, popping off the lip of a jump, stomping a landing or locking into a rail trick.

A modern evolution of a Rome “industry first” that we created back in 2009, Fusion Camber features positive camber through most of the running length, with a small amount of rocker just before the contact points. This design creates a versatile allmountain freestyle feel that has the power and response of the majority positive camber zone, combined with a smoother overall feel and added rise in powder from the small dose of early rise.

We like snowboarding to feel like a sports car or a moto bike and less like a luxury sedan or an old man’s Harley. Specifically, we want our boards to pop with dynamic response when riders load energy into them. This is critical for freeriding, all-mountain freestyle snowboarding, or park riding. Regardless of flex profile, all our boards have technology and design for Pop.

FEEL: While all our boards have pop, they have different feels. Some feel surfy, some feel playful, some feel super responsive, and some find that happy spot between playful and powerful. We do this through camber and other shape designs, as well as unique material applications.

We unify three distinct zones of camber in this profile. Zone 1: from the tail to just in front of the front foot, we use positive camber. Zone 2: in front of the front foot, we use a section of flat camber. Zone 3: rocker in the nose. The result is a camber that drives all-mountain freeride performance. The positive camber mid body and tail drive the carving responsiveness and the slashing power. The flat zone that merges into the rockered nose balances powder float with clean turn initiation.

Featuring the same three-zone approach as the Free-The-Ride camber, the FTR 3D profile includes 3D rocker in the nose of the board. The 3D adds a round, surfy feel in powder, while the positive camber from the front foot to the tail works with the flat camber forebody to deliver a powerful, responsive feel for turning in all snow conditions. The result is a profile designed for all-mountain freeriding, with added performance in powder conditions.

Flat camber throughout the entire running length creates a balanced feel that combines the responsiveness of positive camber and the playfulness of rocker. This makes it a perfect camber for a rider who likes to rail turns and session jumps, but who wants the board to be more forgiving than a traditional positive camber board. To keep performance in this profile, we combine it with our responsive FiveGnar sidecut geometry.

ADVANCED CARBON TUBES FOR PRECISION AND RESPONSE

TARGETED POP FROM A DIVERSITY OF MATERIALS

Carbon is light and super poppy. Not a brand to just throw some carbon tape in a board, we take a unique approach to how we use carbon to improve response. We mill channels in targeted areas of the core and place a sleeve inside the channel. Then we insert a thin rod of carbon inside the sleeve and anchor the carbon rod at the end of the channel closest to the midpoint of the board. This allows the other end of the carbon to move in and out of the sleeve and load up more energy. When the storage of energy is released, it releases cleanly without vibration to increase power and pop for the board.

Using rods of carbon, glass and bamboo, we place HotRods in the boards to deliver power to specific areas.

CONFIGURATIONS OF TURBOROD AND HOTROD TECHNOLOGIES: PUTTING POWER AND POP PRECISELY WHERE YOU WANT IT CONTACT ROCKER CAMBER

NOHANG-UPS ROCKER 2.0 CAMBER

A moderate amount of rocker between the feet and positive camber in the nose and tail create a versatile feel that many riders prefer for a varied life of freestyle snowboarding and all-mountain freeriding. The rocker between the feet keeps the board floaty in powder and nimble at slow speeds, while the positive camber in the nose and tail deliver precision turning performance and pop off the lips of jumps.

This profile starts with a flat camber in the mid section of the board, and then adds rocker in front of each binding through the nose and tail. Looser and more playful than the straight Contact Camber, the rocker version is perfect for riders who want a park destroyer or an all-mountain weapon that flows smooth turns and floats effortlessly in powder.

The world’s best camber for learning to snowboard. We combine a “diamond” of flat camber under foot that also extends to the centerline of the nose and tail. Outside of this positive camber shape, we integrate three-dimensional continuous curvilinear rocker that raises the edges and becomes full rocker at the ends of the running length. The 3D rocker in the nose and tail keep kids from catching an edge, while the Rome-exclusive diamond under foot gives the edge control needed to learn proper carves and slashes.

We combine a 3D rockered nose with positive camber from the mid-body to the tail. The 3D profiling in the nose adds float in powder and it gives a smooth, round shape to the arc of your powder turn. From there, the positive cambered mid body and tail take over to add power to your powder snowboarding for driving through arcs of deep snow an finishing with an explosive slash that can only come from a positive cambered tail.

This profile combines positive camber from the tail through the mid-body with a rockered nose. This delivers two things that we feel snowboarding demands for surfing powder: float and glide up front, and slashing power in the tail. We want to float into deep pockets, and then we want to explode them and enter dark white rooms.

In our TurboRod and HotRod Technologies, we use different configurations to control the level of response and the feel of the board. Some configurations just add longitudinal ollie pop. Some balance longitudinal pop with torisional response. And others focus more on improving the torsional power of a board

BOARD SHAPING We design three types of board shapes that work with camber to drive the different feels within the Rome quiver. Shapes don’t dictate where a board should be ridden, but different shapes definitely prefer different types of riding.

Our True Twin shapes are perfectly symmetrical. Stances are centered and the nose is identical to the tail. If you want to mount your bindings “backwards”, the board will ride exactly the same. The best boards in the line for riding switch, the True Twins define the the personality of our park boards and our allmountain freestyle boards.

When you set these boards on the snow, the part that touches the ground is a twin; from contact point to contact point, they are twin. They are directional in the nose and tail kick areas— the nose is slightly longer than the tail, and the shape of the nose and the tail often differ from each other. With twin and directional components to the shape, these boards are versatile, destroy-anything all-mountain freestyle snowboards.

Directional boards are boards that have longer noses than tails and boards that are stiffer in the tail. Many of the Directional boards also have taper where the width of the nose is wider than the width of the tail. These shapes are ideal for all-mountain freeriding and powder riding.

The configuration inlays a rod in the centerline of the board emanating from the binding towards the tip. This is great for freestyle boards that want more ollie and jump pop, without increasing the torsional stiffness of the board. Focused for a freestyle approach.

This pattern features arcs that start under the bindings and bend towards the middle of the board at the contact points in the nose and tail. On our advanced freestyle boards, this focuses rider energy in the middle of the board for added ollie pop without significantly increasing the torsional response.

This configuration features two rods that start under both bindings and extend in straight lines towards the tip and tail. The result is a double dose of straightline pop, and it also increases torsional response to put more kick into our flat-rocker and powder boards.

This pattern follows the arc of the sidecut on both the toeside and heelside edges. It results in a ton of extra torsional response for quick, powerful edge work, and explosive longitudinal response for high ollies and explosive pow slashes.

New for this year, the Thruster pattern includes two rods that start at the back binding near the center of the board and angle towards the edges of the board. This creates increased tail-specific power to add response to the carves and pow slashes of some of our freeride boards.

HIBEAM TECHNOLOGY: 3D DESIGN TO ADD OLLIE POP In the new Artifact, we three-dimensionally design an “I-beam” shape into the core in the nose and tail to add power where you ollie and nollie into and out of tricks. The top glass laminate contours over the I-beam profile, adding targeted stiffness where you want it, while still allowing the overall flex of the board to be forgiving and playful.

Our flat Contact Camber boards like the Marshal, Blackjack and Kashmir have a feel that is at once playful and responsive for a versatile approach to the mountain. To give these board a little more kick and precision on edge, we’ve created FiveGnar Sidecut. It features two different sidecut radii used in five distinct zones of the board. The sidecut arcs under the front and back feet are the same, while the sidecut arcs in the nose, tail and the middle of the board are all the same tighter radius sidecut. All zones are blended seamlessly into each other to make one smooth arc. With a tighter radius in the nose, tail and mid section, the board engages more actively, feels tighter in the middle of a turn, and finishes the turn with more pop.

The all-mountain destroyer that is at the center of our Tram Line collection of boards, the Mountain Division spends a bit of time ripping at high speed and powering through chopped up snow. To keep it laying the cleanest arcs possible, we created BuzzKill Technology to reduce chatter and extra vibrations. In the shovel near the nose, we mill radiating channels in the core and inlay elastomeric dampening material. This shape and location of material dampens unwanted vibration to keep the front end of the snowboard stable and in contact with the snow.

45/90 CARBON HYBRID LAMINATE The 45 degree fibers deliver edge response and power, while the 90 degree fibers keep the feeling locked and loaded in the freestyle side of things. Then we add carbon for added pop and unmatched lightness.

We created QuickRip Sidecut to added power and precision to the inherently looser feel that our rocker boards have. We integrate two off-set sidecuts that create one sidecut zone in the nose, one between the feet, and one in the tail. Instead of blending the sidecuts smoothly, we create “bumps” that we call Mid-Board Contact Points at the places near your bindings where the radii meet. These Mid-Board Contact Points do two things: they add edge hold and turning response at high speed, and they also act like contact points at slow speed to let you adjust quickly and effectively have a board with a shorter running length.

Power to the people. Riders should have the freedom and power to customize their bindings to match their style and response preferences. We create more ways to customize and we make them easy.

Lock your boot in place, comfortably. Strap work takes up a ton of our design time every year. The mission is always to create a solid, gap free connection that works with your boots to keep feet happy.

For the type of person who likes to tweak a dirt bike or sports car to maximize performance, we include precision points of customization in our high-end bindings. Depending on a rider’s height or stance width, the angle of the lower leg is not the same for every rider. So we’ve designed optional highback canting so that you can angle your highbacks to match the angle of your lower leg. The result is more precise communication between rider and snowboard.

FLEX-WITH-POP: The proper snowboard feel. All bindings need to combine flexibility with power. From baseplates to heel hoops to highbacks, we create technologies that balance tweakability and direct control.

To change toeside response, we make it super easy to move where your ankle strap sits on your ankle. Simply loosen a screw and rotate the PivotMount’s arm into different positions. HIGHBACK ROTATION ADJUSTABLE HIGHBACK POWER PLACEMENT—THE RIGHT OF EVERY SNOWBOARDER When we started making bindings fourteen years ago, we knew from Day 1 that highback rotation would be a fundamental performance feature on every binding that we would ever make. We’d never make a binding without giving riders the ability to rotate the highback so that it is in line with the heel edge of their board. For 2019, we’ve expanded our family of highbacks that are driven by our Designed By Snowboarding philosophy. While different models have different combinations of flexibility and power, they all share the concept of an asymmetrical flex pattern that puts more support on the lateral side. Another way we build Flex With Pop into our bindings is through our V-Rod baseplates. In our V-Rod Ultralight Baseplate and the V-Rod Baseplate, we create direct connection from front to back from your big toe to the lateral side of your heel. At the same time, we raise the corner of the baseplate near your little toe and the opposing corner on the medial side of your heel. This combination gives you power edge to edge AND flexibility side to side. It improves board flex by reducing the plastic contacting the board. D30 SUBBASE PAD THE MOST INNOVATIVE APPROACH TO DAMPENING AND IMPACT ABSORPTION On the Katana and our Stale colorway of the Targa, we use D30 under the baseplate for the highest level of impact absorption available. Compared to standard EVA, D30 absorbs 30% more impact. The result is premium dampening for bigger drops and flatter landings.

For 2019, we’re pushing new ideas and new models in the boot world. First and foremost, we focus our creative work on the fit and comfort—a boot needs to both feel good and hold your foot securely in place without slop. After comfort and fit, we spend most of our design time on giving our boots a proper flex—regardless of whether a boot is supportive or flexible, it needs to flex progressively and it needs to dynamically flex back much the way a good snowboard does. For every model in the Rome line, these are the three things that our boot technologies deliver::

We 3D mold EVA into the contours of the heel pocket of our liners for a consistent ankle fit. With soft face fabrics against your ankle region, the 3D Skate Cuff surrounds your foot in comfort and holds it firmly in place for better performance.

Flex With Pop. The Flex With Pop concept that drives the binding portion of our interface is super important in boot design as well. Snowboard boots need to flex progressively and bounce back with a dynamic “pop”. Whether the boot is supportive or flexible, it needs to start with flexibility and ramp up to its proper level of support.

In our redesigned UltraFit and ProFit liners, we’ve added cuff closure that is similar to the double Velcro wrap of a surf leash. The result is bomber closure at the top of your liner so you can completely lock in the level of toeside support that you want.

We’ve redesigned the forefoot area of our liners for better fit in the arch and toe areas of your boot. With fewer seams, our new liners wrap more snuggly around your foot for a more anatomically correct and secure fit. This new anatomical shaping creates lower profile boots that fit better into bindings and reduce toe drag.

We created a unique power strap that is mounted to the eyestays of the boot’s upper area. The purpose for placing the strap’s anchors on the eyestay is to increase the ability to close and lock-off the upper portion of the cuff. With our PowerStay strap, riders can modulate the amount of toeside power and response they have.

GRIPLIGHT OUTSOLE WITH VIBRAM: ENGINEERED TO FLEX WITH SNOWBOARDING; BUILT TO GRIP ICE, SNOW AND ROCK Traction in our SRT boots is delivered with our Vibram-powered GripLight outsole. Using two different compounds of Vibram rubber for premium traction on snow, rock and ice, we also integrate harder durometer studs in the toe region for added grip. We also design this outsole around our V-Rod concept that drives power toe-to-heel and flexibility side-to-side. Because we know hiking is a fundamental part of a quality snowboard life.

GRIP-RIGHT OUTSOLE LIGHTWEIGHT HIGH TRACTION WITH EVEN BOARD FEEL For the middle range of our boot line, we’ve created a new outsole to improve performance and reduce weight. Sharing a midsole with our high-end GripLight Outsole, the GripRight outsole features a consistent pattern of lugs that bite into snow for grip, while providing an even platform for board feel similar to a skate show. We also incorporate our V-Rod concept of toe-to-heel power transmission combined with side-to-side flex.

ASYM TPU BACKSTAY: SUPPORT FOR HEELSIDE PERFORMANCE; FLEX FOR POKED-OUT FRONTSIDES On our Inferno SRT and Guide SRT boots we’ve introduced an asymmetrical injected TPU backstay that wraps around the lateral side of the upper cuff. This allows for added power transfer on heelside turns and heelside take offs. At the same time, the medial side does not include the added support so the boot is still free to flex and tweak to the medial side. Yet another way we integrate Flex With Pop into the design of our products.

LINER TECHNOLOGY F.I.T. LINERS WE’VE REDESIGNED OUR LINERS FOR EVEN MORE COMFORT, CONTROL AN RESPONSE To improve the fit of our boots, we upgraded the heat-moldable foam for 2019 to a premium, dual-density foam, we re-configured our liner closure, and we reduced the profile of the forefoot region. Combined with our existing technologies like our molded SkateCuff 3D and our Zonal Lining, our family of Foot Impression Technology liners keep your feet locked in comfort.

3D SHELL TONGUE: LEAN INTO A TOESIDE TURN AND FEEL YOUR BOOT RESPOND The design of your shell tongue matters a lot. It makes the difference between a boot that responds with a poppy flex over the course of a long season and one that doesn’t. To give our boots a progressive, poppy flex on toeside turns, we 3D mold our shell tongues. Responsive on Day 1, our boots are still responsive 100 days later.

In our engineered textile upper materials, we weld overlays of TPU in key areas to add support and to increase abrasion resistance.

On our Guide SRT boot, we weld climbing rubber on the toe for two reasons. First, it adds grip with the strap for better fit between boot and binding. Second, it increases strength for resting the edge of your board on your toe while on the lift, or for scrambling through high-altitude rocks to get to a gully full of snow.

TECHNICAL HANDWEAR FITTED AND FEATURED FOR SNOWBOARDING We’ve been building mitts and gloves for almost as long as Rome has been making snowboards. 15 years into creating gloves, our new line is a result of our Design House principals: loaded with snowboarding-first features and technical fabrics to optimize your time on the hill. Built around tested insulations like Primaloft and waterproof Hipora fabrics, the new line is a technical and stylish commitment to the demands of the modern rider. For durability, we have a new 100% cowhide Poacher and a new thumb/forefinger design featuring our IndexWrap construction pattern to let riders tweak grabs, shovel, and strap-in for the long haul.

OverUnder Cuff: At 3.5” in length, this is the perfect cuff for riders with different preferences—short enough to ride under the cuff of outerwear on cold days and perfectly long for riding as an over with one of our Riding Hoodies or a light jacket.
