Hello, I’m Belynda Wong, a photographer born and raised in Singapore. My photography and design style is greatly inspired by my strong interest in the fashion, aesthetics and music from different eras. I am constantly influenced by the colours of sunsets and I enjoy taking photos of people and capturing their emotions. I always take pride in my style and all the work I do. I am able to adapt to changes quickly, turning any problems faced into new opportunities. With a passion for design and photography, I’m constantly exploring so as to better my skills. I enjoy creating publications that help complement my photography and communicate my concepts.

Eastern Allure This was my very first actual studio shoot using proper studio lights and modifiers. In this module we learned the basic to studio lighting and this was our last assignment— to shoot an advertisement/campaign for any brand/event. I wanted to try a beauty shoot, something very elegant yet strong, highlighting the features of my models. (2017) Models: Niina Yeo, Elsie Loh and Katherlyn Tham Makeup & Styling by: Belynda Wong

Paradise City A product photography series I based my photo sets off the idea of all things summer— melting ice cream/ ice, palm trees, beaches and fruits. I wanted to beauty products of a summer collection and incorporate actual aspects of summer in it. In the second set of photographs, I wanted to capture more aspects of summer, something more related to people and what’s more fitting than tropical patterned shirts. (2017)

The Human Race A Narrative Project (2017) There was a quote by the character Wally Mars from the movie, The Switch which goes, “look at us. Running around, always rushed, always late. I guess that’s why they call it the human race.” That’s where I got the idea of capturing people commuting. To commute is to travel some distance between one’s home and place of work on a regular basis and with that constant travel comes rushing, crowding, waiting and even falling asleep in an attempt to get to one’s destination. To take these photographs, I went to bus stops around Admiralty, a variety of train stations mainly on the East West line and Tampines bus interchange at 7a.m. and 6p.m. respectively as that’s the start of the peak period. Capturing the peak period rush is no easy feat when photography isn’t allowed in Singapore’s train stations but I hope these photos show you the essence of commuting in such a busy country as Singapore.

Teenage Riot A Fashion Photography Project Fashion photography is something I take great interest in so for this module, I decided to try a concept that I’ve been wanting to try out for the longest time. I decided to come up with a line for the clothing brand UNIF. From bold prints to acid wash jackets, this seasons line is totally inspired by the unforgettable and simply iconic fashion trends of the 1980s! Channel your inner Madonna or Cyndi Lauper and throw caution to the wind as you rock these bold pieces! The images are purely for learning purposes and doesn’t affect the brand. Photographed by Belynda Wong Models: Katherlyn Tham & Jenni Jang Styled by Belynda Wong, Elsie Loh, Tammy Koh

Landscape In this project, I photographed Punggol and Tiong Bahru. This is a series of images depicting Punggol as an eco town and showing the integration of urban structures into nature and vice versa. As for Tiong Bahru, I aimed to capture the architecture of the place, especially the buildings/ flats that held specific historical backstories. It also aimed to show the gentrification of the place and how we are trying to advance while retaining the history. All images are shot on 120mm Kodak Portra 400 film using a Hasselblad.

Fersken by The Body Shop Photographs for the branding of a sub brand of The Body Shop created by a friend for his studio project in school.

A A TYP TYP O O --

24 Oct – 18 Nov 2016 9am – 6pm

GRAPHY GRAPHY During this Typography module, I learnt the many rules of type, including proper kerning and proper use of hyphenation. My headline, “Its A Typography Thing” is depicted in an almost ironic way in this poster because I chose to include the hyphenation when the text is left aligned and mess around with some of the kerning

as well as creating awkward shadows with the white italics and regular text overlapping the original black text. This plays around with the term typography which is sometimes known to be rigid especially with all the proper rules but my depiction of the headline defies all those rules, making it somewhat ironic.
