MONDAY, NOVEMBER 28 AT 8PM ON WXXI-TV Hailed by critics as one of the greatest concert films ever made, the Last Waltz was a concert by the Canadian-American rock group The Band, held on Thanksgiving Day in 1976, at Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. It was advertised as The Band’s “farewell concert appearance” with more than a dozen special guests, including Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Emmylou Harris, Ringo Starr, Ronnie Hawkins, Dr. John, Joni Mitchell, Van Morrison, Muddy Waters, Neil Diamond, The Staple Singers, and Eric Clapton. The film, directed by Martin Scorsese, features concert performances, intermittent song renditions shot on a studio soundstage, and interviews with members of The Band. < Richard Manuel, Robbie Robertson, Rick Danko, Levon Helm and Garth Hudson of The Band.
