Staff Success WHS staff running club After a small group of teachers gathered on a Thursday night before Christmas, to explore the rolling hills of Wycombe, word spread and a Wednesday night session was also started. The Wednesday session is aimed at those who wanted to get into running, but were maybe apprehensive about distance or pace.

This is open to all Staff and has seen small and larger groups go out on both days, with the Wednesday group exploring routes of approximately five to six km and the Thursday group heading off for anything from 10 to 15 km. The Thursday group does have some marathon and half-marathon runners in there, so there is always someone keen for some distance, hills or both. Hopefully this will continue to grow as the lighter evenings arrive, as there are lots of local trails worth exploring too, so there is something for

Sports Achievements

Our next fundraising appeal, ‘Pedal 4 a Pitch’ is fast approaching! It will take place on Sunday 19 March at the Eden Centre from 10.00 am to 5.00 pm. Come along and ride a spin bike provided by Anytime Fitness to help raise money for our all-weather pitch campaign. Our goal is to cycle 500 miles the equivalent distance from High Wycombe to our twin town of Kelkheim, Germany. Students, staff and parents are encouraged to sign up for 15 to 30 minutes slots and secure sponsorship from friends, family and colleagues. We will be sending out a letter with more details about the event and sponsorship forms. If you wish to sign up for a slot please email dmorgan@whs.bucks.sch.uk.

Sponsor A Square ‘Sponsor a Square’ is continuing to help raise money for our pitches with £10,000 raised to date.

We encourage families to purchase a square in honour of your daughters, the family, or a friend of the family. If you run a local business, work in a large corporation or know of someone who does, you can purchase a square or two in the company’s name which is a great opportunity to advertise at the new facility. Squares range in price from £50 to £725. http:// www.whs.bucks.sch.uk/PlayYourPart This year we have challenged each tutor group to raise £50 to sponsor a square. Nine out of 60 tutor groups have purchased a square so far. Please encourage your daughter to either contribute £2.00 to her Tutor or help organise a fundraising event for her Tutor Group. Thank you for your support.

We would like to celebrate your daughter’s sporting achievements outside of school. Please email us at office@whs.bucks.sch.uk with your daughter’s success stories for inclusion in the next edition and / or if you would like to become a Friend of Sport to help with fixtures, events, etc.
