Overall, a great 2018 season with Allie reducing her handicap to 19! In early spring Allie was asked to represent Oxfordshire as an ambassador for Girls' Golf Rocks. This is an national initiative by Golf England to help encourage more girls into the sport. In April, Allie represented the Oxfordshire girls team against Berkshire winning her handicap match at East Berkshire Golf Club, then a week later Allie halved her best ball scratch match at Henley Golf Club. Towards the end of April, Allie played for Oxfordshire again at Woburn on The Duke's Course. Allie narrowly lost her best ball scratch match to Buckinghamshire on the 17th green.

Football

Trampolining Zoe Godfrey (Y7, T1) recently competed in the Southern Region NDP (National Development Programme) Level 1 grading, achieving a qualifying score high enough to also qualify for the Regional Team trials at the end of March, finishing 5th out of 26. On the same day, she also competed with her team in the Southern Region Regional Development U15 Team Competition, finishing in first place! She is now training hard for the trials at the end of March. Good luck Zoe!

In terms of aggregate points for all age groups, Harshika came a very close third. An amazing Harshika Srivastava (Y7, N2) is to be congratulated for a very successful performance at achievement Harshika, keep up the good work! the Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire County Swimming Championships 2019. The event took place over two weekends - 12/13 January and 26/27 January at Wycombe Leisure Centre.

Swimming

Harshika participated in 15 events in the 12 year age group with 9 first place finishes, 2 second places, 2 third places and 1 fourth and fifth place finish. She achieved south east regional qualification times for 9 events, based on provisional times published by Swim South East, and also broke three county records. Congratulations to Molly Finn (Y9, B1) who has been selected to play in the Buckinghamshire County U15 Rugby Squad.

Team Success Cross Country

Gymnastics Floor and Vault Championships

On Sunday 3 February the U14 Gym Squad travelled to St Mary’s School in Gerrards Cross to compete in the 2019 Floor and Vault A fantastic 15 Wycombe High School students competes at the 'Bucks Cross Country Champs' on Championships. The girls all performed beautifully and unfortunately just missed out on a podium Wednesday 6 February 2019. It was a great position. Buckinghamshire Schools’ Cross Country Championships

Lucy and Ana both received letters inviting them to join the County team, as is the aim and challenge of this event. Most difficult considering the talent in Buckinghamshire! Lucy placed 5th and Ana 10th. Absolutely amazing! The Minor Girls race saw Sofia, Jo, Isabelle and Aashni place all between 8:31 and 8:47 over their 2000 m course.

Swimming

Hill-loving Tia placed highest in the junior girls race League in an amazing 15th out of 115 runners, followed by On Wednesday 30 January the third round of the Buckinghamshire Schools Swimming League took Keshni, Annie, Lyra, Bessie and Alexandra. place at Wycombe Abbey School. Year 7 & 8 Gala

On Wednesday 6 February the Year 7 and 8 swimming teams took part in the annual Wycombe Abbey Sports Leader gala. For lots of the team it was their first time representing the WHS swim team. Wycombe High School dominated the competition, winning both the Year 7 and Year 8 competition and therefore taking the overall school win! Congratulations to all of the swimmers who took part 3


Hockey U12 In2 Tournament

On Tue 12 Feb the U12A Hockey Team travelled to Marlow Sports Club to play in the U12 In2Hockey National Schools Competition 1st Round. The competition format meant that the team had 5 matches to play, the first game against a very strong GMS side, after a challenging game the team lost 5-0. However they learnt a lot from this game and approached their next games with a very competitive edge seeing them win their next two games against SWB & BHS. Their 4th game against DCHS proved very competitive and they narrowly lost 2-0. In their final game they came back strong and ran out 2-1 winners over AHS. Overall the team finished joint 3rd which was an excellent result and shows a team that is growing in strength and character. Team: Kailee, Tilly, Millie, Rosie, Eloise, Katie, Aashni, Izzy, Ruby, & Emily.

U13 In2 Tournament

Our final match was against Dr Challoners and with an amazing goal from Anouska Modray-Lane we secured a win at 1-0. This put us in 3rd place overall meaning that we just missed out a place to the next round. On behalf of the whole team we would like to say thank you to Mrs McPhillips who gave up her time to help us in the last few matches, it definitely made a difference to our game play. Also thank you to Jess Harrison for umpiring all of our matches and giving us advice and Miss SaintSmith for stepping in for Mrs Butterfield and also taking us to the tournament. And last but not least a massive thank you to Mrs Butterfield for coaching us every Monday evening and Wednesday lunchtime. We wouldn’t have been able to do any of this without them.

The In2 Hockey Tournament was on Thursday 14 February and we took nine players, this included: Emma Turrell (Y8, P4), Rosie Windsor (Y8, P3), Sophie Midwinter (Y8, N1), Sophie Ellis (Y8, N5), Sophie Newcombe (Y8, P9), Katie McPhillips (Y8, A4, Anouska Modray-Lane (Y8, C5) , Annabel Tillyer (Y8, B10), Hannah Saunders (Y8, B8). We went straight into our first match against Great Marlow and came out with a bang. We got two early goals which secured our win at 2-0, Rosie Windsor scored the first goal and Sophie Ellis did some great runs down the wings and Anouska Modray-Lane got a great deflection into the goal. After that we played Pipers Corner and although we defended hard we lost 4-0 with an unfortunate injury to Sophie Midwinter resulting in being unable to play the next few matches, but she was also awarded player of the match.

Netball U19 Regional Finals

The wonderfully talented U19 Netball team, coached by Sarah Grey, did an outstanding job by winning the County round of the National Schools progressing onto the Regional Finals. It was always going to be a tough day for them but they fought hard and lost just two of the matches which unfortunately meant they couldn’t progress A few injuries led to the team having no substitutes and a minimum number of players. We through to the National Finals. Nevertheless, a great team effort and some superb netball on battled against Borlase only to lose by 5-0, with show from the girls. Well done to Polly Campanini, terrific saves from our keeper Katie McPhillips. Izzy Merrick, Ellie Ervine, Lucy Herritty, Caitlin Hannah Saunders stepped into defence and did Joyce, Mia Pierce, Phoebe Grey, Steph Marsden, some amazing tackles. Lucy Sutton. Our following game was Aylesbury High School and with two early goals from Emma Turrell and Cricket some good block tackles from Annabel Tillyer we Lady Taverners Indoor District Competition won 3-0. Very well done to the U13 Indoor Cricket Team who recently WON the District Tournament at Beaconsfield High were our next opponents and Amersham School. They now progress onto the we got our first goal with a great cross into the D Regional Finals which we wish them the very best from Sophie Newcombe. We kept going but of luck for. The team consisted of: Alex Clark, unfortunately Beaconsfield High managed to pull it Aashni Manek, Anah Rahman, Anusha Mittapalli, back and scored an easy goal in the last few Navya Sareen, Tilly Fellows, Sophie Midwinter and minutes. This resulted in a 1-1 draw. Amber Drewe.

U13

Well done to everyone who took part from Years 7 The U13s won the futsal tournament winning all of to 11! Below are the results for the spring term. their 3 games, scoring 11 goals and only conceding 1, outstanding play! The team have had Year Group Results: continued success in the league by winning their first game 2—1, we wish them the best of luck for the rest of their league games.

U15

The U15s won the futsal tournament also winning all of their 4 games, scoring 19 goals and conceding 1, another amazing performance from our WHS footballers. The team have had further success in the league, they won all of their seven games and therefore are the league winners. Additionally, the team won their County Cup semi final in a very close game against Lord Grey School but managed a last minute 2-1 win! They will now go through the final round and will play at Arbour Park on Wednesday 13 March—good luck WHS!

Fencing The Wycombe High School fencing team recently fought against Wycombe Abbey. We fielded a novice team. The foil team did win some bouts but unfortunately lost overall. However, despite having Key Dates fewer fencers than the opposition the Epee team Highlights: drew, having to fence three times as much as their Wednesday 27 March & Thursday 28 March rival counterparts. We wish the team further successes in upcoming events.
