Gymnastics

Wycombe High School gymnast Poppy Whelehan Well done Poppy—we are very proud of all of your has become the new Irish National FIG achievements! Gymnastics champion after impressing at the National Series final in Dublin last weekend. Poppy who flew to Ireland last weekend accompanied by her family and coach Becky Birkett to compete at the National Sports Campus. Poppy trains for 23 hours a week at the Phoenix Gymnastics Club having been with the club since she was three years old. Becky has coached her from the very beginning.

Hockey Tilly Fellows (7B, C7) and Millie Stebbings (7F, T8) are National Finalists in the England Hockey U12 Club Championships, representing Marlow Hockey Club. Their team qualified after reaching the final of the Southern Region Club Competition on Sunday 28th April. This followed success as winners of the Buckinghamshire County Championships in March. Sixteen teams competed in Sunday’s Southern Region competition, all of whom were winners of their respective County competitions. The tournament was hosted at Surbiton Hockey Club, where the girls played the 7-aside In2Hockey format of the game. The standard was extremely high but the girls worked hard to come through their pool in second place, followed by wins over Wimbledon in the quarter-finals, and Dragons in the semi-final. After a very close final against the home team, Surbiton, ending 3-2 to the hosts, the girls took second place and qualification for the National Finals on 18th May.

Junior Inter-Regionals - she was selected for the Eight representing Thames Upper Region. Junior Sculling Regatta - she won Silver in the WJ16 Coxless Quad Wallingford Regatta - she won Gold by 13 secs in WJ16 Coxed Four An excellent start to the season for Eloise, we look forward to hearing about how the rest of the season goes.

DofE Celebration Evening In April we hosted our inaugural DofE Celebration Evening to showcase the fantastic things our DofE Bronze and Gold students have done to achieve their awards. It is not easy to achieve any level of award so it is extremely fitting that we celebrate these wonderful achievements! We had a tap dance from Megan Noad (Y10, P4) and a wonderful cello performance from Nina Bernatowicz (Y10, C3). It was a superb evening — well done to everyone!

In the finals, they finished an incredible 7th in the Country! A fantastic achievement following a great season with their club.

DofE Gold at Buckingham Palace

Congratulations to Serena, Ellie, Cleo, Ahmynah, Abi, Mia and Ana who all went to Buckingham Palace to receive their DofE Gold Awards. It is Volleyball Izzy Tucker (Y10, C4) and her beach partner have such a massive achievement and we are very proud of the efforts that all of them have put in to been selected as the pair to represent Team achieve their award. Well done! England at the European U18 Beach Volleyball Championships in Vienna in June. This is the highest level selection Izzy has had to date. And still only 14 in the U18s! An incredible achievement—good luck!

Rowing Eloise Brindle attend the GB February ID assessments and came 10 out of over 60 Single sculls and 4th in her double, and has now been invited to the GB camp in April. Congratulations! Eloise has also competed in the following competitions, with outstanding finishes in all of

Athletics Indoor Athletics League The WHS athletics season has got off to a great start! All of the athletics squads attended the Indoor Athletics District Competition at Cressex school and finished the competition with high placings. Year 7: 1st Place

After a long wait the email finally came through confirming that both the junior and inter team had qualified to compete the regional round on Wednesday 12 June! Well done to all of the competitors and good luck for the next round of competition!

Senior District Championships On Monday 13 May the Year 9 and Year 10 athletics teams competed at the Little Marlow Track in the Senior District Championships. Overall, a very successful day for the WHS athletes! The Year 9 team taking second place and the Year 10 team a comfortable first place!

Year 9 and 10 League Throughout May the Year 9 and 10 athletics team competed in the athletics league at the Little ESAA 1st Round Marlow athletics track on Tuesday evenings. The team got off to a great start finishing on top the On Thursday 9 May the WHS junior and inter leader board in week 1. The team managed to athletics teams travelled to the Hillingdon Athletics hold their first place after week 2 but Great Marlow Stadium to compete in the first round of the managed to gain lots of points, making the gap English Schools Athletics competition. Cricket On Tuesday 30 April the day at the U13 Cricket team travelled to the Lady Taverners South East Regional Finals, thanks to the EBC cricket and and Middlesex Cricket. The team made it out of their group in first place to reach the finals but lost out to a stunning team from Sevenoaks, Kent. The 2nd best team n the South East! Not too bad at all! Many thanks to coach Keith!

Cheerleading

Overall results: On Tuesday 14 May our cheerleading squads the ‘Wycombe High Warriors’ and the ‘Wycombe High 1st Place: Bronte Flyers’ competed in the Kobika Starlites Schools 3rd Place: Parks Cheerleading competition. The Wycombe High Warriors won the Secondary School Level 1 5th Place: Pankhurst category and the Wycombe High Flyers won the Secondary School Level 2 Category! A evening full of success for our cheerleading squads!

Congratulations to all the WHS trampolinists who competed at Wycombe Abbey annual trampolining finals. An evening filled with spectacular routines with multiple podium finishes across all categories.
