Important Information Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of all walks to allow for registration, putting boots on, etc. When attending an activity please take the advice of the leader. We reserve the right to refuse to take people on activities if we feel they are unsuitably equipped for the activity. If you intend to leave the event early inform your leader for your own safety. The finish times of the walks are approximate as the duration may depend on the number of walkers, e.g. crossing stiles. Please let the leader know if you need to return for a certain time at the start of the activity. If you cannot attend a bookable activity please, if possible, let the Duty Ranger (07976 650803) or Visit Garstang staff (01995 602125) know in good time so if there are reserves on the list they can be given the chance to attend the walk. Unfortunately dogs are not allowed on guided walks unless stated in the walk description. This is because many of

the walks cross farmland containing livestock or ground nesting birds. Dogs are allowed only on the health walks and legstretcher, but dogs must be kept under close control at all times and on a lead on request by the leader, and you must clean up after your dog(s). Please check the suitability of the route for your dog before you attend. Please come dressed to match the type of activity and be prepared for all weather conditions with appropriate footwear and waterproof clothing – even if the sun is shining. Please bring a drink particularly on the longer walks. Please bring any medication required including inhalers and food if required. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. For some walks there may be items such as binoculars etc. to bring with you, please check the customer information sheet provided when you book on the walk.

health

If you have any medical conditions that the activity leader should know about, mention this at the start of the activity. If you have any concerns check with your GP or health practitioner before you take part. Our health walks are a good starting point for people recovering from ill health. For more details and health walk listings, see page 13. 3

Would you like to help support the future success and development of the Garstang Walking Festival? The festival was launched over a decade ago by Wyre Council to encourage people to visit Garstang, enjoy the lovely countryside and also use and support local businesses and organisations. The Friends group was formed to support Wyre Council's Countryside Ranger team in organising the festival and now the Friends carry out a coordinating role in delivering the festival. The Friends of Garstang Walking Festival are looking for people to help with various aspects such as becoming walk co-leaders or helping with all the administration of the festival. If you feel that you may wish to help please contact Les by calling 01995 672230 or by emailing les.fragle@gmail.com and he will happily explain more about the Friends and the work they do. There is an initial ÂŁ5 joining fee to support the Friends. 4
