HOT ENTERTAINMENT FOR THE SUMMER The Wyvern Theatre is your theatre and we hope you will join us many times throughout the forthcoming season. Top drama, musicals, ballet, comedy and live music all take centre stage at the Wyvern over the next few months. One of the best plays you’ll ever see is An Inspector Calls in April; Horrible Histories jumps out of the television and onto the stage in July; and 250 talented local young people present West Side Story in August! SWINDON TALENT The Wyvern has been staging Summer Youth Projects for many years and it is something that Swindonians can be very proud of. The town and its surrounding areas are full of talent and this can be seen both on stage and backstage. Our projects demonstrate how important the arts are to young people and their development as they learn the vital skills of communication and teamwork – not to mention learning lines! HOLD YOUR EVENT HERE If you are looking for a venue for your party, celebration, meeting, conference or wedding reception we offer a unique setting in the heart of Swindon. Our team can provide everything you need in our flexible function rooms to create your perfect event at the Wyvern! THANK YOU This is the first opportunity to thank you for making our recent pantomime, Cinderella, so successful. With over 27,000 people seeing the show it was our best attended pantomime ever! MON 26 – SAT 31 MARCH After nearly five years of mischief, bad behaviour and political incorrectness, London’s funniest show heads straight for Swindon. The Tony award-winning Avenue Q is an irresistibly charming and wickedly funny musical about the lovably hopeless characters on a downtown New York street trying to make sense of life’s burning issues: love, work, relationships and above all, just how are you supposed to pay the   bills with a BA in English? Life may suck on Avenue Q but being jobless, homeless, politically incorrect, having sex (whether hetero, homo or porno...and that’s just the puppets) are just some of the topics featured in the terrific songs of this show. WE’LL MEET AGAIN

JACK DEE Work in Progress

JACKSON

This wartime cavalcade show, We’ll Meet Again, returns to the Wyvern with music from the time of the Queen’s Coronation. Starring Adam Daye and international soprano Marilyn Hill Smith, this matinee performance offers a charming recollection of the days when the spirit of Britain was at its highest.

Catch Jack as he road-tests his new material for a 2012 tour.

Why is he touring again? ‘I want to spend less time with my family’ says Jack.

A cast of musicians, singers and dancers work their way through all the King of Pop’s hits led by a vocally and visually astounding Amir Sharma. He’s got the look, the moonwalk and above all, the voice! Sing along to his renditions of classic Michael Jackson songs including Thriller, Beat It and Billie Jean.

‘What is truly unique about theatre, for me, is the immediate experience that performing provides. Surely, one of the greatest feelings in the world, for an actor is the sheer pleasure of using every single bit of yourself, your past experiences, profoundly sad or ecstatically happy to fill and enrich the character you’re playing. But, even more thrilling, sending out enormous amounts of energy and having it come back at you doubled. AUDITIONS SAT 21 APRIL Now THAT is the meaning of CALL BACKS SUN 22 APRIL synchronicity!!!’ If you’re aged 9 – 21 and would like to be involved in this year’s RITA MORENO production, to experience ‘what is truly unique about theatre’, download an application form from wyverntheatre.org.uk and return it to the Wyvern before the audition date. All participants  will be asked to perform a short dance routine and sing a song  from the show, both taught on the day by an experienced choreographer and musical director.
