Roy Orbison Tribute

Felix Dexter

Gyles Brandreth

Multiple Personalities in Order

The One to One Show

Barry Steele takes to the stage as Roy Orbison for one night, accompanied by a five-piece band.

Critically acclaimed for his characters and performance on BBC2’s Bellamy’s People and the star of Radio 4’s Down The Line, Felix Dexter will be coming to the Wyvern Theatre after having returned to Edinburgh this year with this new stand-up and character show.

They say all political careers end in tears. In Gyles Brandreth’s case it’s tears of laughter as the actor, author, One Show reporter, former MP and government whip turns stand-up.

Barry has had rave reviews in the hit show Rockin’ on Heaven’s Door, before leaving in April 2009 to concentrate on his own solo show. He will sing all the classic hits including; Only the Lonely, Crying, and Blue Angel, right through to Orbison’s later hits California Blue, and You Got it.

Sally Morgan

Circus of Horrors Micky Flanagan The Four Chapters From Hell

Fresh from her new TV Series – Psychic Sally On The Road on LIVING TV, Britain’s best loved celebrity psychic, Sally Morgan returns by overwhelming public demand. Sally has used her gift over the years to help many people and her reputation has been built from her close relationship with many highprofile celebrities. Sally now brings her amazing abilities and her tremendous personality to the stage with a unique theatrical experience, which is both hugely entertaining and enlightening. An evening with Sally Morgan is experimental/ investigational. There are no guaranteed or certain results and the show is for the purposes of amusement/entertainment.

Following on from the success of last year’s show, this spectacle has had a revamp and is even more rocking and shocking. The story will take the audience on a journey through the Circus of Horror incarnations. The show contains some of the most bizarre and beautiful circus acts from flying trapeze, whirlwind roller skaters and sword swallowers. Tickets £17.50

Micky draws on his East End background as he ruthlessly deconstructs the Cockney Myth with razor-sharp observational wit. He tells a comic tale of a working class upbringing, where alphabetti spaghetti is a luxury. Micky has come a long way since then, thanks to a university education he is now a rare delight – an intellectual cockney. Adults only.

Andy Parsons

Just Fair Laughs

Oxford Phil0musica

A Night of Comedy

Andy will be bringing his brandnew show to the Wyvern Theatre. Andy delivers his jokes in a unique and clever style, substantial and beautifully crafted, and very, very funny. This is political comedy without the leaflet, satire without the lecture, ridicule without the sanctimony – all brushed with a bit of showbiz glitter. The audience will leave fulfilled, energised, emotionally uplifted and, maybe, a little bit giddy.

‘Perfectly calibrated… the King of Political Comedy’

Preston funnyman, Tony Vino, leads an all-star line up of top UK comedians for an unforgettable night of comedy. TV and radio favourite Paul Tonkinson heads the bill; he first emerged on the stand-up circuit back in 1992 when he scooped the Time Out New Act of the Year Award. He completed the Time Out double when the London entertainment Bible named him as their stand-up comic of the year in 1997. Joining him is the Edinburgh Festival favourite Jason Cook and the warm and engaging Andy Kind.

Full of light serenade music, this concert will convey the atmosphere of late 18th century Austria. Music Director Marios Papadopoulos will be in his familiar dual role as pianist and conductor, directing from the keyboard Mozart’s Piano Concerto in A Major, a work of intimate beauty and delicate proportions. What candles may be held to speed them all? Not in the hands of boys, but in their eyes Shall shine the holy glimmers of goodbyes.

Tues 26–Sat 30 April Tue–Sat 7.30pm, Wed, Thu & Sat 2pm In the days leading up to the last great German offensive of the First World War, Raleigh, an 18-year-old soldier joins a besieged company of soldiers in the British trenches at St Quentin. There he finds his new comrades being led by his old school friend Stanhope, but discovers that the man in army greens much changed from the boy he left behind in cricketing whites. Journey’s End is the Olivier-nominated, Tony and Drama Desk award winning production directed by David Grindley (Six Degrees of Separation, Crown Matrimonial, The Philanthropist) that won critical acclaim in the West End and on Broadway. R.C.Sheriff’s masterpiece is a must-see of British theatre. Based on the author’s own experience of the Front and life in the trenches, it celebrates humour and courage in the face of certain tragedy, and remains an important reminder of the horrors of war and the real, unromanticised heroes who fought it. As our young men continue to fight and die for their country in foreign fields, this tale of ordinary men facing extraordinary circumstances exposes the impact of war past and present and why in remembrance their sacrifices cannot be forgotten.
