Immediate transport information on your phone Iain Ferguson The Highlands and Islands are leading the way in Scotland with the launch of a ground-breaking new GO HI app which will make it easier for residents, tourists and business travellers to access the information they need to make greater use of public transport, car sharing and to decide when cycling is an option. Regional transport partnership HITRANS has developed and launched the app which can provide the answer to questions with a few strokes on a mobile phone. The plan is to help everyone make better use of public transport which, in turn, can lead to less pollution through sharing of resources and less slow moving traffic. Funded by the EU North Sea Region Stronger Combined project and the Scottish Government’s Mobility as a Service (MaaS) Investment Fund, which aims to deliver the commitment to lowering carbon emissions, improving health through developing digital solutions to encourage and enable active moves to public transport and travel alternatives. shop for all travel needs, combining a journey planner with real-time travel information, tickets and payment options, allowing integration of bus, rail, flight, bike, car club, demand responsive transport (DRT), car rental and taxi operators across the Highlands.
