Jubilee Fun IN CAOL Karin MacKay Caol Locality Action Group, in partnership with the Highland Council, Scottish Fire and Rescue, Police Scotland, Highlife Highland, Caol Regeneration and Caol Community Council, has organised a Jubilee Engagement Event on Saturday June 4. The aim of the day, based at Caol Community Centre, is to bring local groups, services and people together for an informative fun day. Groups and organisations will be showcasing what services they have available and some free taster sessions from activity providers can also be enjoyed. For local produce or crafts, a visit to the outdoor market is a must. Meet with local fire and police who will be showing off their vehicles, find out what Highlife Highland offers or show off your baking skills with our Great Scottish Bake Off by bringing along your home made jubilee cake for a chance to win a great prize. Karin McKay Tenant, participation officer, and Jane Young, community support co-ordinator, will be engaging with residents regarding the locality plan activity and would like to hear your views. also find out how you can get involved in your community. Recently formed Caol Resident Group and Lochyside Group will be attending on the day to showcase their plans and raise funds with excellent raffle prizes alongside a Highlife Highland’s tombola. There will be activities for all ages with fun inflatables, Segways, face painting, a shinty tournament for youth teams and beat the goalie. Children’s entertainer Maddie will be in the youth centre and youngsters are encouraged to come in fancy dress - princesses, super heroes, anything they want. Everyone who attends in fancy dress will receive a goody bag. For adults, Nevis Radio will be on air throughout the day with live music from local musicians and star guest Gary

Innes will be playing a few tunes. Outdoor entertainment will start at 1pm and an outside beer garden will be available to provide refreshments. Inside, there will be a taster session from local line dancers at 12.30pm, followed by Zumba. Linda Campbell and Jo Cowan have organised an afternoon ceilidh tea dance from 2pm to 4pm followed by a show from Highland dancers. A prizegiving will finish off the event at 4.30pm in the main hall, however, the community centre bar will remain open with music and food until late. You could end up staying! Everyone welcome.
