X-TRA Contemporary Art Quarterly

X-TRA is a contemporary art journal. Our mission is to provoke critical dialogue about contemporary art. Edited by a collective of artists and writers, X-TRA publishes expansive features, interviews, columns, reviews, and commissioned artist's projects. The journal has been published quarterly in Los Angeles since 1997, and its archive forms a considerable contribution to the art historical record. X-TRA is published by Project X Foundation for Art & Criticism, a nonprofit organization founded to support X-TRA and create platforms and community for critical art dialogue. In tandem with X-TRA, Project X produces artists’ editions, books, and a wide range of public events.
