Site: Xuzhou, Jiangsu, China Xuzhou is an important coal industry city in inland China. This project is to transform a derelict boiler house factory on a university campus in Xuzhou, which is famous for its coal majors, into a vibrant space for contemporary college students’ campus life.

Coal has played an important role in the rapid development of China's reform and opening up economy for decades. As an important inland city with abundant reserves of coal and other minerals, Xuzhou has a pivotal position. Therefore, a large number of coal mining and processing plants have been built. This renovation project is located in the old campus of CUMT. It used to be a plant that relied on coal to supply hot water. It has withdrawn from the stage of history over time.

Shape generation Diagram The internal functions of the building are divided into square boxes and cylindrical spaces. The box space includes self-study, rehearsal, communication space, etc.; the cylindrical space is an open circular theater.

Site: New Cairo, Egypt, Africa The New Cairo City Affordable Housing Project was proposed to solve the problems of population explosion and harsh environment when building a city in the Arabian desert. Versatility and creating sustainable living environment are the main features of this project.

But nowadays, the population is increasing rapidly, arable land is degraded, and the deserts are bothering them. The condition of the capital Cairo is the most direct manifestation of these problems. The industrious Egyptians also try to improve their way of life in the city through the diversity of architecture.

Massing Diagram The original traditional building volume in the city of New Cairo was improved, the ground floor was retreated and used as a trading place, and the rainwater collection tube was placed in the center to i m p ro ve t h e wate r shortage in the desert.

Site: Washington D.C. America As a country of immigrants, the United States has always been pursuing the goal of multi-ethnic integration. In recent years, more and more ethnic conflicts have occurred in various parts of the United States. It is particularly important to promote mutual understanding and mutual respect between races.


Impression Collage The White House is the symbol of the supreme power of the U.S. government, and the spiritual place that should most embody national e q u a l i t y. N e a r t h e White House are also important symbols representing the United States such as the Lincoln Memorial, t h e V i e t n a m Wa r Memorial and the Obelisk.

Site Plan The park site is located on the oval lawn in front of the White House of the U.S. Government Building in Washington, DC, USA. This is one of the most popular parks for outdoor activities in Washington, DC. Through the deconstruction and design of the venue, a public activity area, including a children’s play ground,

Design Proccess a public meeting and speech forum, etc., is constructed. The aim of this project is to create an urban cultural platform for people of all ethic groups in the US to communicate, understand and respected.

1 The venue is based on the line connecting the Obelisk, the White House and the Lincoln Memorial.

2 The two axes divide an oval lawn, and a imaginary wall is erected to show the barriers between ethnic groups.

3 At the intersection of the axis is the most important American National History Memorial in the park.

4 Retain the original ring road on the site and build a vertical gallery bridge to connect the various buildings in the site.

5 Add interesting vo l u m e s i n t h e frame structure and grid points of the site to form a complete functional park.

Using a large number of geometric elements and the combination of virtual and real, the two high walls are transformed into an exhibition space showing ethnic history and a communication space for people of various ethnic groups.

Function Flow

1 The outer ring of the top floor is the train track and platform, and the inner ring is the control tower.

2 In the waiting hall, the equipped passengers are sent from a single cabin to the top track.

3 Passengers are transported from two transparent pipes around the tower to the waiting hall.

4 Passengers enter the p i p e l i n e entrance from the green space in the center of the China World Tra d e C e nte r overpass.
