...at the turn of the 19th century it became art: the art of losing the way, the art of overtaking. some became artists in kind. or perhaps, merely, moved on. in paris they called them flâneurs. a passenger who observes the metropolis, a gentleman (or woman) who wanders in urban fabric. addicted to wandering, she cross the streets, anonymous into the crowd, with only purpose to enjoy the observation of constanlty changing scenes. she is a passive spectator of urban happenings, wherever crowding happens. wandering may seems individual, but it has puplic character. arcades... protected from the rythm of metropolis, the different scenes seemed small independent cities, with covered worlds in miniature. without the arcades, flâneur would be misserable, and without the flâneur, the arcades as well, wouldn’t have the same glory.

Wandering is the first identification and reading tool. deconstructing the city, there are hard elements that constitute the city. these are the roads, the buidling blocks and their buildings, and the uncovered areas of the building blocks as well. the city center doesn’t leave any urban gap, any discontinuity. everything is full. into the saturated urban landscape inherent soft elements too. a constant game of presence and absence of human activity. [...] tonight we improvise. starting an embodied process, he\she crosses arcades and pavements. his/her gaze detects a different style from the usual. a mettalic structure steps on the grey pavement tiles and got lost into the recess of the block. she/he follows... the interior uncovered area of the block becomes the scene to develop multiple naratives, contrasting multiple spaces and different times in real space.

contested narratives | scenes of the city the city within the city

cubes of spatialized emotions

we simulate the architecture with a rample through the city, where there is a variety of stimuli. architecture: the idea of a constant process, where alternation of colours, spaces, materials and shadings got revealed. the power of coherences and collage, the artistic interpretation of emotions and subconscious, the libertine and subjective flow of action are preceded. the spectactor is called to embody all these as immediate experience, as a process that happens at present tense, as a thetrical performance in progress. each cube aims to interpret the symbolism and the visualisation of the process, to mediate the emotion, expressing a range of abstract intentions and ideals.

the interior uncovered of the blocks becomes the scene to get developed multiple narratives, juxtaposing in real space multiple spaces and different times. the visitor becomes a flâneur who enters the city’s fabric (flâneur’s way of concentration of senses). human experience of the space. space displaced in time and function. condition of scene place. we overtake the image, the visual perception of the spectactor - receiver. how an actor embodies the scene? the scenic area creates discontinuities, canalizing and imposing the movements of the body and vision perception. coexistence, isolation, visual juctions are allowed. [...] theatrical performance in progress
