01 REJUVENATING the SRO co-living, Single Room Occupancy, Urban
Studio Work Instructor: Prof. Jasmit Rangr Fall 2019
The SROs (single room occupancy) was created in 19th century and often inhabited by underrepresented immigrants and other new-comers to cities for short stays. While the history of SROs has been fraught, the needs and benefits of SRO housing are clear with a housing crisis. This project proposes a rejuvenation of the SRO as a co-living social space to crate safe, humane and affordable housing in urban areas.

02 ONE MORE FACADE Intervention on Residential Building
Studio Work Instructor: Prof. Ping Wang Spring 2016
Variability of life are discarded when those monotonic residential buildings rising expansively in China contemporary cities. However, we human beings are social animals. A flexible and interactional communication is needed to stimulate the potential activities in the compact living units of urban fabric. This design is an integration system based on Chongqing geomorphology to add one vertical space to challenge the programmed living situation.

03 SHARING ARCHITECTURE The Social Role of Architecture School
Competition Spring 2017
Due to the gap of aesthetic cognition between the public and architect, it urges me to think of the potential of architecture school. This project proposes a new identity for architecture school as a platform that welcome the diversity of public. By including programs typically foreign to the architecture school, such as park and shopping, the design strives to integrate the architecture school into city’s everyday life, where aesthetic ideas can be exchanged.

04 HOUSING PRACTICE China, Countryside, Vernacular, Single Family House It’s been great chances to get practical housing project during my graduate time. After the thinking of residential project, it made me realized the more complicated system of a house customized to different users. More importantly, vernacular has always been a topic to reflect in this two housing projects of form, interior, material and furniture staging. Also, to balance the concept with constructional reality is the another challenge for me to learn as a beginner.

05 BRIDGE MOVEMENT City Strategy, Data Visualization
Studio Work Instructor: Prof. Mabel O. Wilson Partner: Vincent Lai Spring 2018
After the 2014 HK protest also known as umbrella movement, studies were raised on the impact of citizens media in mobilizing such large scale movement. This project proposes to analyze citizens thoughts within the complexity of HK multi-layered urban fabric with bridges. It explores and visualizes the citizens occupation in city space with data from twitter within 72 days of movement.
Retweet Data Visualization Data resource from Tweeter during the movement period is visualized to space the protest site with people activity and a read of their attitudes

07 BACK TO DAILY Renovation of Industrial Heritage
Undergraduate Thesis Instructor: Prof. Wei Zhou Partner: Jianfei Yang Spring 2016
This site used to be a cement factory, which becomes a valuable identity of industrialization history, however, also an isolated void losing the connection to city fabric. This project focus on how to transform the site into a cultural and creative hub with economic and social sustainability. Through its renovation, we try to provide people with a new lifestyle and define the character of a community with a strong link with the past, present and future.
“the city is like a large house, and the house in turn is like a small city.” In spite of history, memory can imagine and reconstruct a future time of fantasy. — Aldo Rossi The Architecture of the City
