Antuo Hill Museum Park Practical work Team work Shenzhen, Guangdong Province Contribution: Design of ceramics museum Graduate 1st year in 2013 Advisor: Prof. Qin
Master Plan
From the day reforming and opening to the world,Shenzhen has changed a lot, especially the landscape damaged.Today, the government pays attention to this situation. Antuo Hill Museum park aims to recover this hill and provide different museums to the public. The design is characterized by a comprehensive approach where site, architecture and landscape are integrated, merged and mixed. This museum park not only contains research space, exhibition space, experience space and commercial space, but also has other kinds of space which could be used to hold different sorts of cultural activities.Residents or visitors can experience a comprehensive tour and during the tour there are lots of surprises.Above all, museum park is a village with a variety of spaces which are open to the public. The museum park is composed by two sides which are complementary and diametrically opposed. One is the museum group which are full of cultural ambience and the other is the natural forest reservation. The design respects the site and the history and also keeps the original form of the site. The entire design develops a game and a dialogue between two concepts which is urban nature and organic city shape.Architecture and landscape will restore the Antuo hill in their own ways of the stone form and the cultural space.

The fire fighting system is very important in this design for the forest in the park and so many antiques in the museums.
In the forest,we designed the path to lead the tourists to have a good experience in this park.

Architecture of the Museum Park The main architectures we designed are at the entrance of the whole park which is called musuem street. There are five museums in the street:1.Comprehensive Museum, 2.Ceramic Museum, 3.Ming&Qing Dynasty Furniture Museum, 4.Paint Museum, 5.Stone Museum. All the museums have their own themes in the park. The tourists can explore what they want in this museum park. There is a large plaza at the entrance and after some stairs you can see these buildings. The first one is the largest named comprehensive museum. At the other side of the comprehensice museum is the ceramic museum which is a three-storeyed building. When coming out of the ceramic museum, there is a plaza in front of u to have a break.Three museums left at the end of this street. You can go back to comprehensive museum when finished Ming&Qing dynasty furniture museum through the space underneath the ground. The stone museum is the symble of this wonderful museum street.
05
Ceramic Museum This project was designed by QL studio. For this project was too large for one person, almost all the staff and all the students were invovled in the project. My work during the process is to design the Ceramic Museum. This museum is not that much large but it was the only one that was three-storeyed high.Maybe it is a little difficult to mix such different functions in this small museum. Finally,it is very interesting to design such a museum and it turned out to be a very interesting one in the museum street, and at the same time stay harmony with all the five museums around, especially the comprehensive museum.

High-rise Hospital Inpatient Building Academic work Individual work Changsha, Hunan Province Undergradute 4th year in 2011 Advisor: Prof. He
Social Need Analysis Take Changsha as example, almost all the general hospitals are located at the center of the cit, where we can find experienced doctors and good medical appliances. In such a situation, people always prefer to consult in these hospitals. As a result, the hospitals have to expand. This is one of the Reasons why the high-rise hospital inpatient buildings are springing up in Chinese cities. Nowadays, all these hospitals in Changsha have built or will build their own high-rise buildings to meet the need.

Individual Need Analysis Patients’ demands are different from the ordinary people’s. They often need some services that ordinary people don't need to. Even as to the basic demands, the demands of the patients are different from those of the ordinary people. Therefore, we should take many factors into consideration in design.

Existing Activities Analysis Patients are usually weak and inconvenient in mobility, and the high-rise building made it even harder for them to reach the ground. Therefore, they have to stay indoors, reading watching TV and more frequently relaxing in the bed. The hospital inpatient building should provide more outdoor space for patients to take activities. This is a key factor for the patients to be cured. 32

Courtyard The most common courtyard in China is a quadrangle dwelling, i.e. buildings surrounding a courtyard in 4 directions. The most existing quadrangle dwellings now in China are called three courtyard quadrangle dwelling. The first courtyard is designed for the maid. The second courtyard is main courtyard which is surrounded by the bedrooms for different people. The third one is the backyard. The main courtyard is always designed as rectangle. People who live in the dwellings may decorate this space, such as setting some stones, planting some trees or keep some fishes in the center of the courtyard. It is the ideal outside space for people to live in and it is just like a huge living room. Another reason for people to create courtyard is to get more sunshine in the winter. T h e re a re a l w a y s m o re than one courtyard in the quadrangle dwellings. They are varied in space and invade into each other. In the design, there are several courtyards from the ground floor to the top.
The courtyards are becoming more privative when you walking through these yards. In the design it is progressive in three dimensions and this leads to the diversified spaces in all directions.
35
Traditional Courtyard
Vetical Courtyard
In the traditional method, the courtyards are extended only in one direction, the X axis. The spaces can emerge into each other by this way through the gates, the windows and the patios.
All the courtyards are turned up to be the vertical courtyards. In the traditional design methods, courtyards can only extend in one direction. The vertical courtyards, however, can extend vertically as well as horizontally and a three-dimension courtyard results. In addition, the overlap of the different courtyards can make the space plentiful and offer a wider horizon.

Room Types Single Room Area: 20m² Balcony: Yes washroome: Yes The single room boasts spacious space, resting place, balcony, and complete facilities which make it very comfortable.
Double Room Area: 28m² Balcony: No washroome: No Although the privacy of double room is less than that of the single room, double room boasts all kinds of equipment. Moreover, all kinds of the green plants are decorated outside the room to help the patient recover.
Double Room with Balcony Area: 30m² Balcony: Yes washroome: No The double room with a balcony is a room between a double room and single room. It has a small balcony for activities.
Tectonic Plants, wood, concrete, steel, glass and other materials are used to make the structure reasonable and the whole facade looks very harmonious.

Facade Changes with Seasons Because of the plants on the window sill, the whole facade is alive. The facade changes with the change of seasons. In the spring, the wall is very colorful with flowers; in the summer, the wall becomes green; in the autumn, the wall becomes a gold wall; and in the winter, the wall shows its original color.

In.For.Mation Academic work Cooperate work Contribution: low poly concept 2016 Advisor: Lecturer. Erin Besler
People see the UCLA campus for its sustainability and greenery, we see these trees for its shades. To further analyze this we captured panoramas of the view of outdoors and processed the image in two different ways. First we lter this image to halftone to achieve round pixels of RGB (Red, green, blue) colours overlapping each other forming various shades of green. These make identifiable pattern of bushes but at the same time leaves room for interpretation.

The building, located at the southeast corner of the lake, lies to the south of the library, which is a landmark building on the campus, and to the west of the grand hall and the main office building. In this site there are terrain height differences, the design is to uprise the building to form space between the building and the site. This can not only get maximum viewing but also make the building access for different people from everywhere.

Young Bird Plan 2014 Individual work 2014
61
Young bird plan is a competition sponsored by the magazine named Domus and is hold annually in the summer of every year. This year the competition is the design of a Kiosk for the Taizi Bay in Shenzhen and the space is limited in 5x5x5m. This Kiosk must have the possibility to expand to sell something,to offer help to others, to hold a small exhibition or to be the entrance for the exhibition.Besides this,it should be constructed and deconstructed easily. In addition, the kiosk should take the regional spirit into consideration to design in a creative way and to attract the public.SLIDE² is my design and it is located at the Dacheng Industrial Cultural Center. The conception comes from the light house at the Taizi Bay and the millions of containers there. It is made of steel and frosted glass which are very common in today’s industry. Thus, these two kinds materials can make SLIDE² stay harmony with the Dacheng Industrial Cultural Center.SLIDE² is designed as a two-storeyed kiosk resulting in the complement of the private space and public space. There are railways in two directions in order to divide space in the kiosk.Axis X controls the kiosk to be open or closed and Axis Y could change the the space to enrich the possibilities of the space. In conclusion, the two directions of change make the kiosk more variable to adapt to every kinds of function demands.

Case 1. The development of the urbanization in Chinese rural places, together with the resulting social economy phenomenons have already constituted one of the most outstanding distinguishing features in Chinese modernization process. Due to the development of urbanization, there is increasing immigration to the urban regions. Villages and farm land felled into disuse. Case2. In the year of 1997 and 1998, some areas along the river in China suffered from unprecedented flood. The government immediately began to implement the police of “Keeping the lakes form being farming”, which turned out to be helpful to gradually ease the flood issue. However, though the villages appeared again after the flood, all its left is just the empty context and fragile walls of the buildings without memories and soul which have already gone with the immigration. Having considered all the points above, the idea of “parasitic building” attempts to discover the relationship between new and old buildings. Meanwhile, through the interaction of these two kind of buildings, the “parasitic building” can recall the the memories of the immigrants’ homeland, and also update the building model of farming-residential building in the future. This include the considerations of economic pattern and the combination of agriculture, cultivation, bamboo processing and contemporary stay for migrant workers. More specifically, the “parasitic building” should meet the requirements of memories recalling, being adaptable both to the future and present.
Project of Shenzhen University Chai District Student Dormitory Cooperate work Contribution:Design Graduate 2nd year in 2014 Tutor:Prof. Qin Email:ht2002-2003@vip.163com
The site of Shenzhen University chai district student dormitory is located in the north campus. There are Cuckoo Mountain and WenShan Lake in the south and a Litchi forest in the north. At the east side,it is the Yuehai rebuilding zone cross the road.Because of this, the elevation of the dormitory is very important to the campus. Almost all the teaching buildings are at the west side of the dormitory.Above all, this site connects to every part of the campus and can easily get to anywhere. In the design, we choose to control the height of the building in order not to oppress the buildings around it.Besides grey space between the tower and the annex part, the design also open the ground floor and some part of the building to form a line of sight to the sky.All the buildings are connected by the annex part to provide the students to communicate. In addition, there are three courtyards in the middle to offer different functions for the students to enrich their campus lives. Meanwhile,we also redesigned the dorm type in this project. It is more useful, more efficient and could save more energy than others. The design not only provides a building with graceful landscape, but also in it something new can be found about living pattern. 62
