Motivation Letter Plan of Action Curriculum Vitae

Motivation Letter Dear Americas family, My name is Ximena Paredes González, I’m 24 years old and currently studying the last year of my medical career at the Universidad del Pacífico in my beloved city of Asunción, Paraguay. I address myself with a lot of affection and admiration to present, with great pride, my candidacy for Regional Director for Americas ad interim. Why did I decide to do it? After analyzing deeply, thinking a lot and taking many hard decisions, I realized that I see passion, dedication, potential and experience, not only in me, but in you, my family, my region, and all this must be exploited and show the world that we are made of. My path in IFMSA started in 2015, in the committee that took my heart, SCOME. As I acted as LOME, I loved seeing how the students of my university acquired capacities to be agents of change and that they did it for the simple fact of wanting change the world. That motivated me to apply for NOME, and for the next two periods, I worked and took SCOME in IFMSA Paraguay to expand and grow. During those years, I attended the General Assemblies in Mexico and Tanzania, and the RM in Peru, I took the TMET, but I also developed my abilities within the executive board of my local committee, first as general secretary , where my greatest achievement was the complete reform of the local bylaws, and then as vice president of internal affairs. I applied for the position of regional SCOME assistant for the Americas region and, at the same time, as the Supervising Council of my local committee.

During the period as a member of the international team, I developed management skills and improved my teamwork skills, I also got to know the IFMSA Constitution and Bylaws, and during my last general assembly in Montreal, Canada, I had the opportunity to represent IFMSA Paraguay as head of delegation and participate in work sessions and discussions with other presidents. At a local, national and international level, IFMSA gave me too much, and what better way to give back than using all the knowledge, skills and aptitudes within my beloved region, taking it to another level where we continue to be an example of capacity and improvement. Then, you will see my ideas reflected in work strategies so that all this is possible. With love, Ximena
