The unprecedented urbanization process in China has amazed the world. Behind China's urbanization there are plethora of emerging urban environmental challenges. What we need is not mere superficial buildings devoid of soul, but instead the harmonious resonance between architecture and human beings. Cell is the basic structural and functional unit of the organism. Green cell is used as the skin of the urban complex design. It consist of diverse materials, in order to adapt to different needs. It not only serves as structure but also plays a key role in environmental sustainability as well as purifying the air.

The bad (Outdoor BBQ/Straw Burning/ climate condition threaten our health Restaurant Oil Fume) everyday. It is the time to introspect and change for the better.

The Photo Of A Same Site From 11/1/2014 To 11/30/2014 shows that more than 80% of a month In Zhengzhou was heavily polluted. The envitonmental problem is becoming increasingly serious! It is our duty to try our best to create a new city for residential.

The use of a double layer skin creates an in- between space which increases the flexibility of space and prevent air pollutant into the building.

The project site is located in Zhengzhou high-tech park. It is surrounded by residential complexes and science institutes. The existing plaza is undertutilized during hot summer time due to lack of trees and shelters. This design is to create a refuge for people to escape from summer heat or strong storm. Meanwhile it also aims to provide opportunities for meeting and viewing. The sculpture form of the shared balcony will also serve as a landmark of the high-tech park in future.

We have lived here more than thirty years, we go to the square to exercise 6:30~8:00am every morning and night. 7:00~8:30pm We are glad to see the new building that I have never seen before, it provides us a new activity place.

I retired five years ago. My daughter and son work in other cities, sometimes I 7:30~9:00pm feel lonely. So I organize a dance team, we dance every evening in the plaza. This really enrich my life!

We like to play tennis in this garden every Saturday. But we could only stay at home in summer in the past time, because there is no shelter Saturday 4:00~6:00pm in the plaza, and the sun is too hot and shine. The new building really provides us a cool space.

The client wants to create a flexible, interactive, equal, and fun space atmosphere to inspire employees’ creativity. A split-level strategy is applied to arrange the large conference room and the animation rehearsal room so that people from both first and second level can see the activities inside these spaces. The flowing space creates unique experiences by the collaboration of five different levels and the multi-opening walls. 35

Huaniao island is located in the northmost part of Zhoushan archipelago, which holds abundant tourism resources. In recent years, heating up island tourism brings more opportunities to this island and the original port station is expected to be improved accordingly. The assignment includes renovation of current station building and landscape design for the surroundings. Collecting all the functional requirements, we reorganise these functions in a branched layout, and choose semi-arch as structural brace for the building and landscape elements. By using the creative design language, a new landmark is anticipated to be brought to this emerging tourism destination. 37

03 Baihuan Community Square Renovation —Public Landscape Space in Beijing Type Date Location Status

The project locates at the centre of Baihuan Community, Chaoyang District, Beijing. The community has been realised for ten years, and all of the public facilities need to be renewed.

We retained the original floor pavement, adding a circular pattern pixelated two hot-melt coating consisting of two square pattern as a division of the activities in the region. The pixel block grow vertically at the edge in order to form flower beds and sitting benches.

East part is circular plaza, the current status is a semi-enclosed tertiary level. By strengthening our sense of enclosure to define the theme of the Circus Space Square: half-moon yellow walls to strengthen the sense of heart circular plaza, originally shorter steps wooden seats were added to the convenience of residents to sit down rest, increasing the mushroom chairs and bright colors to bring vitality to the plaza.
