RESUME Hi, I am Xinye, the third-year master student in Architecture. Two passions, simple but over whelmingly strong, have governed my life: the love of design and the longing for knowledge. As a young architect, designer, and artist with Architecture and Urban Planning background, I believe that design and creation could make a better future for our human beings. I have an innate curiosity to try new things and to challenge myself to the limit. After traveling more than 16 countries, I have experienced different cultures extensively, which inspires the creations of my architecture and ar t designs. I view myself as a easygoing person and a good team player, and have a strong sense of responsibility for the work. I am highly motivated and willing to work under pressure.

PERFORMANCE TOWER RISD Design Principle Professor: Hansy Better Barraza Time: 2015 09-12

A special tower designed for shuttle maker to live, work and exhibit her works.

This is a narrow site located in Providence, Rhode Island, USA. It is close to the riverside and connects to the two main roads. There are three adjacent buildings. The tallest building is 90' heigh while the other two lower builidings is about 32' and 37'. There is a notable geographic difference from the main road to the riverside. Thus people standing in the side which close to the mainroad could directly see the riverside.

In a narrow and windy site, an elegant tower stands in the wind and perform the shuttle falling silently. Inside of the tower, there are various rooms. Each of them has different floor heights. A spiral staircase connects all of them together. In such a special tower, a shuttle maker lives there for experiencing her shullte movement. When she walks into the tower along the spiral staircase, she becomes a "live" shuttle herself. As she moving from one room to another, she is mimicing the falling track of the shuttle she made. As she staying in the room, which indicates the moment of the direction change of the shuttle falling. She can experiences how the shuttle swings and spins when it falls off as she move inside of tower. She also knows how the shuttle shape is affected by air friction when she stays in different spaces with different heights. In this unique tower, she has everything she needs such as studio, exhibition place, livingroom, kitchen, bedroom, restroom. She can test shuttle she made by drop it from the top floor, and people who walk inside of the spiral staircase could oberve the shuttle falling everywhere. Only in this unique tower, every character of the falling shuttle transfered as architecture language. The shuttle maker could enjoy the invisible but various spaces inside of the "shuttle". She is performing the shuttle falling while she lives there.

The c onc ept model indic ates the relationship between the narrow site and the shuttle falling track. The wood sticks along the narrow site indicates the column grids of adjacent buildings and how the grids affects the site. The transparent acrylic represents the the ground. The shuttle falling track model is based on the abstract elevation. The wood sticks indicates one edge of the shuttle and the length indicates how large area the falling could occupy, while the other wider wood highlights the space change inside of the shuttle.

Mobile Architecture

"The idea of the Ville Spatiale was to assure for its inhabitant the freedom to shape both their individual habitat and the city layout, freely after their preferences. The second element of that idea was the Architecture mobile, the possibility to periodically remodel the individual habitat and urban layout, without imposing demolition." [1] [1] Friedman, Yona, Kenneth Frampton, and María I. Rodríguez. Arquitectura Con La Gente, Por La Gente, Para La Gente =: Architecture with the People, by the People, for the People. León: MUSAC, 2011.

Half-public space for meeting neighbors

Two adjacent units share one column grid and one staircase

As the site suffers the heavy water pollution and flooding, residential space can be hard to build on the ground. For avoiding such problems, living on the "air" becomes a reasonable choice. By building a column frame to lift the whole apartment, people could enjoy a wider beautiful view of river and the fresh air. Considering residents who live in the modern apartment tend to have less chance to interact with their neighbors, some public space such as the corridor is designed wider and face to the riverside. Thus residents could appreciate the river view and get more chance to interact with their neighbors. Wider balconies and windows are also designed for better sunlight and outdoor space.

various units group

For the ground level, there is a landscape designed for improving the vegetation coverage, purifying the water, and absorbing the flooding. As a small open park, it could also be shared with the nearby community.

SINGLE COLUMN GRID MODEL WITH STAIRCASE AND ELEVATOR

The rainwater pipeline along the columns frame could collect water and purify water. There are also living machines on the ground floor. By water recycling system, residents get fresh water from air instead of directly from polluted river.

The residential units are prefabricated and can be set up by using crane. As the whole frame system is flexible, the community could add or reduce units according to the number of residents.Residents could also change their units depending on their need.

FABRIC POETRY RISD Advanced Studio Professor: Christopher Bardt Time: 2017 02-05

Reading room & Landscape

Comparing with other ordinary projects which begin with one site or certain requirements, this project is asked to start with exploring a surface of specific material. The design process is guided by the object. By continuous constructing and deconstructing the surface, elements and features of the material are extracted and translated to architectural language. Eventually, the language is applied as a bridge to connect the two opposite programs, combining them into an organic whole.

As the poetry describes, this is a landscape with a big reading room located in a fictitious green park. The project is inspired by wrinkles of the fabric. By the deepen and flatten drawing of the object, the "weaves" are extracted from the cracks of fabric wrinkles. Overall, the two-layer space is based on "weaves". The bottom one forms the reading room while the top one becomes the landscape. Both layers have their own crests and troughes. Therefore, a space with various heights and inclined ground is created. When walking on the top layer, people could experience the undulating ground and appreciate the elegant weaves of the landscaoe. While walking inside, people could also appreciate a quite space with natural ground. Readers could always find a comfortable place to sit and read.

More and more man-made materials with high quality are used for buildings today. However, there is fewer chance for people to appreciate the beauty of the nature. Bamboo, as a nutural “live material, is flexible with beautiful texture and color, which is familiar to human beings. Supposing this space is in a park, by re-arranging this strip-like material with Sunbrella, a multiple-hieght space is generated. Sunshine can easily pass through gaps between layers while the bamboo shadows dance with the sun. People who want to relax and enjoy a peaceful moment can have a break here and play with the shadow.

Curves Control By bending the bamboo in dif ferent points we can get multiple cruves.

By changing the connection points of cruves we can redef ine the space and have different space experiences.

THE RUNNING BALL (GAME DESIGN) RISD, The Drawing Game We Play Instructor: Zachary Rochman Time: 2017 01-02 Game design of the running ball is based on a cube game. By changing the cube to sphere, the rules are changed accordingly. The cube-based game scene transfer to fast track for accelerating ball movements. This accelerometer-based game requires high concentration and delicate operations. Hence the player's rapid reaction capability could be improved when enjoying this game.

Ă… (FURNITURE DESIGN) RISD, Denmark, Scandinavian Design Instructor: Nathaniel Smith Time: 2016 06-07 This floor lamp is designed during a summer course in Denmark, inspired by Scandinavian furniture deisgn and Denish lifestyle. The aim is to use the least material and simple geometric element to create the most elegant lighting effect. The stable tripod frame is made by wood sticks and wires, which could be a sculptural decoration at home during daytime. For the lampshade, there are multiple choices. 1. Rice paper lampshade: create a soft and warm lighting effect. 2. Plastic bag: create a bright and cool lighting effect. It is easy and cheap to change the lighting color by changing plastic bag.

THE AEROLITE COLLECTION (JEWELRY DESIGN) Personal work Time: 2017.06

The aerolite collection is inspired by a sci-fiction called the Three-Body Problem. The concept is based on the imagination of topological spac e and spac e projection which relate to the dimensionality reduction of higher dimensional space to low dimensional space, such as from 3D to 2D. By t wisting the space and changing the sur face connection we can obtain a complex topological space. The complex part as the higher dimensional space is eventually be simplified, flattened and folded.
