Reading room & Landscape
Comparing with other ordinary projects which begin with one site or certain requirements, this project is asked to start with exploring a surface of specific material. The design process is guided by the object. By continuous constructing and deconstructing the surface, elements and features of the material are extracted and translated to architectural language. Eventually, the language is applied as a bridge to connect the two opposite programs, combining them into an organic whole.

As the poetry describes, this is a landscape with a big reading room located in a fictitious green park. The project is inspired by wrinkles of the fabric. By the deepen and flatten drawing of the object, the "weaves" are extracted from the cracks of fabric wrinkles. Overall, the two-layer space is based on "weaves". The bottom one forms the reading room while the top one becomes the landscape. Both layers have their own crests and troughes. Therefore, a space with various heights and inclined ground is created. When walking on the top layer, people could experience the undulating ground and appreciate the elegant weaves of the landscaoe. While walking inside, people could also appreciate a quite space with natural ground. Readers could always find a comfortable place to sit and read.

WALL OF BOOKS
The interior wall is designed as bookshelf. As people take books from the wall, there are more and more lights could pass through the wall. The Wall of books serves as a great place for people to communicate and exchange their thoughts with others.
